The microwaves only heat up water. The metal can shields the water inside the can from the microwaves, so it doesn't heat up, no pressure builds up, and it doesn't explode.

first of it was a bottle of beer not a can. 2 min is what they did,they said it was going for about 10mins and it was a old one so can change the heat so if your going 2 try it do it right.
Maybe the microwave doesn't work, which is why you're willing to ruin it? But the waves can't get through the metal can anyway, so the worst it could do is ruin the microwave oven.
