god dam people lose the fucking shitty ass music i would much rather hear what there talking about then some crap ass song you thought was good for the video!
A great example that you don't have to be a complicated person to be smart and happy. I read Cody's book JUST before he started getting more popular from dual survival and I was SO excited to learn that he was gonna be on T.V. I think he needs his own show on HGN or DIY as well as Discovery. He has become my new favorite survivalist. Yes even better than Les Stroud!
@longfootbuddy your blind to the fact that we have it so well, where as other country's barely have drinking water let alone a computer to complain on
Thank you for making this video. While the detractors here sit on their butts and complain, you went out there and made this video happen. It wasn't perfect, but what is? I'm cool with imperfection. Thank you.
Lol this guys doesn't even need electricity to live in his home and its actually a very beautiful home, very nice warming and cozy and much better than any average household or even large household. It even reminds me of lord of the rings. And the cost of rent $0, why can't we all live this way? Or at least use healthy green energy to power our homes. It's even better and cheaper than most people think it is, but the system the whole world is stuck in keeps us within the shadow of ignorance.
Peyote is actually a psychedelic cactus. In one episode of Dual Survival Cody refers to the days of his youth when he used to smoke weed but I don't think he's into any kind of substance anymore. This is a man who's found his passion and gets high on life. Very inspirational!
@Jumpybeaver I've had the kool-aid, and its mighty good! Jobs are good, money to support my family is good. I like lots of growth hormoned meat, big fake titties, lots of money, steroids, gas-guzzling suv's, consuming and wasting as much as I can, burning forests down just for the hell of it, not recycling, leaving a t-rex sized carbon footprint, and being able to pay my cable bill so I can watch Cody Lundin!!!!! =D

its good and natural to live "green".. but as with everything, the government is taking advantage of opportunities to drain you of freedom, in the name of whats good...we will all be living in a giant day care, where we'll be forced to share our toys, take our nappies, and be permitted to have milk and cookies if we're good little children.. government regulation is turning americans into retarded slaves.. scaring you into compliance with promises of security, and brainwashing with public school
@longfootbuddy I agree my friend and it is good to see that people are catching on. Not only does our government coerce us to pay high taxes, the bureaucrats that run the show only know how to spend, spend and spend some more. They don't do a god damn thing. DEA for example. Our government can also take peoples land if they want to. What would our founding fathers say about all this?
@longfootbuddy Thats why I advocate new economic system that isn't based on greed, power, scarcity, poverty, war, corruption, and pollution. Our current economic system gives incentives for these things. The very money in our pockets is the main reason for all these problems we see around us. Money is unnatural and since its creation it has only caused problems.
Check out the film Zeitgeist Moving Forward for a sustainable, egalitarian, and scientific approach to society.
@IHighLikePlane goverments depend on the people's dependence on money.. if you know why the u.s. goverment was created, youll know it was for commercial purposes between the states.. if you know anything about the federal reserve, youll know its designed to make perpetual debtors of us all.. if you look to the source of all goverment control over us, youll find that its through the money that they gain power over people.. but its people's love of money that makes them trade all their freedom
@longfootbuddy Yes, I agree. Thats why we need a moneyless society. We are at the stage in human knowledge where we can easily feed, clothe, house, transport, and provide all the benefits of society to all mankind for free, while being sustainable. We have the technology, scientific understanding, and resources to make it happen. All that is lacking is people's awareness of this possibility.
The Zeitgeist Movement is only 3 years old and already the largest social movement in human history.
@longfootbuddy Nothing in an RBE is done by force or coercion. Machines already do most of the labor nowadays. If we weren't limited by costs over 90% of jobs could be done by machines. I'm sure you've seen the restaurants in Asia were robots do all the work, or the robots that clean malls in Japan. Machines are already making human labor obsolete anyway.
Yes, there are intellectual problems people would work on, but a small number of volunteers working a few hours would be more than enough.
@IHighLikePlane if people produced these robots, and maintained them for free, this would free other people from work.. but i dont know of anyone that builds and maintains robots to be given away for free... you would need a very large number of these robots, if you were planning on replacing peoples labors... there are billions of people working now.. and like i said, you are proposing a society ruled by the scientific consensus.. which i dont want..
@IHighLikePlane a society ruled by a scientific consensus, is just a form of democracy.. a group majority, ruling over individuals.. thats not what i want
@longfootbuddy Its not a group majority. The majority could say that the Earth is flat, but all the maps of the Earth would be round in an RBE because that is where the science and evidence points. Also no one tells you what to do. You get everything you need for free (within reason without causing a large environmental impact) and from there you can do with your life as you please.
@IHighLikePlane no, im saying that in your system, it would be a scientific consensus which would determine how society would be run (ruled)... this obviously would be better than the majority of fools making the decisions for all of us, but i would prefer none of you make decisions for me.. i value individual freedom, and when you let groups of people decide whats best for me, i lose my freedom.. i do no harm to anyone, im a decent guy, i dont need or want groups taking away my freedom
@longfootbuddy I think you misunderstand the concept. When committees get together to make decisions it isn't to decide anything for you. Its to decide things like how to build a bridge, efficient cell phone designs, and what type of energy systems to implement.
If you want to go and live like the Amish no one would stop you, in fact you would still have access to all of the resources of the society free of charge. No one would tell you what to do. An RBE is the most free system I know of.
@IHighLikePlane hey, im all for groups of people getting together to do a bunch of "free stuff" in the world.. use technology and scientific thinking to make the world better.. all for that.. but when groups get together to make decisions about how society should run, it tends to lead to regulating the lives of everyone, interferring with individual rights and happiness, and generally sticking their noses where it doesnt belong.. you understand, dont you?
@IHighLikePlane " Robots will turn like rabid dogs and murder everything with organic thought process. Earth will become devoid of life as we know it and be ruled and occupied by machines only. Never trust a machine smarter than you." A quote by Dr. I.P Freely PHD. on the upcoming robot containment legislation before Congress.
@IHighLikePlane according to wiki, the zeitgeist movement states that "there will be no decision-making process regarding greater social issues by human beings, those decisions are arrived at by using the scientific method, based on the carrying capacity of the Earth, rather than using human opinions. The replacement of human decision making by artificial intelligence" .. we may agree on the money, but i want to run my own life, rather than let scientists, machines, or anyone else do it for me
@longfootbuddy All your doing is complaining, everyones not out to get you, it saddens me that this is such a favored comment on a video that is so humbling.
@eddiequest4 Go to his website and itll show you every step of building and every bit of the philosophy, The north, west, south and east of this house all have a purpose in how to heat/cool your home, radiated rocks warn the house at night, its very amazing how every inch of the building plays a part in heating/cooling and lighting. those big black containers are water resivors painted black to heat his water. its worth reading on his site cause you can use his techniques in even a dabree shelter
Does anyone know what the knife was that Cody carried in the latest Dual Survival "eat my dust"?? Where they are in the salt flats of Sonora? It isn't his mora, it has a, what looks to be wood handle, and the sheath has a metal guard strip along the edge side of the sheath. I think it maybe is Swedish made, but that is only my opinion. I was quite surprise to seNice knifee him use a differnt knife, but we never got a direct look at it up close! See Dave carrying the Habilis Bushtool?
-- Now that I think it, he *might* do some indoor gardening, so maybe there's a reason the camera didn't pry into those details ;). The one missed opportunity I see here is the lack of rainwater collection. I see cisterns/water tanks (filled by a truck, perhaps?), but the green roof more than makes up for that. Also, other clips show that Cody is very mindful of his water use and I bet whatever outside water he uses goes a long way. Maybe there is water collection that I'm missing. Cool house.
-- Did he say anthing in this about ventilation? It looks like he has venting windows on that south-facting wall, but I wonder if there are earth tubes or vents on the North side of the structure, or if that skylight can be opened to allow air to enter the structure. Also, I need to read more about "Shotcrete" (is it the same as ferro-cement, or whatever it's called?). I don't like how he goes to compost something and the camera doesn't follow... I'd like to know his setup and if he gardens.
That place is like a Hobbit mansion. I assume he goes to the bathroom outside in nature then. Kinda sucks for the guests I suppose....if he ever has any. I wonder if he attracts any hippy chicks to his pad.
I like it that he has beautiful old antique furniture in that gloriously earthy, funky hobbit home. Interesting fellow. And strangely enough, I really like that house.
@tuscaniman25 -- while I much prefer Cody and there *are* a lot of hokey things about Dave, I shudder when I see people totally dismissing what he brings to the equation. Sure, he makes boneheaded decisions and he is too much the glory hound when prudence and patience is really the better choice (e.g., his choice to hunt in Africa and thoughts about the shelter needing to be bigger in case he had to "fight a lion" = crazy). However, there is something to be said for a "get her done" attitude.
@jscanyon -- I'll check it out. I'm aware that he (and/or the show's producers) misrepresented his military service. You also really have a sense that Cody's approach is one that is developed from living the life, while Dave's is about fashioning himself as a celebrity. Still, learned recently from books or not, I think some of what Dave can do (and the skills he has) are useful. In a survival situation, I'd pick Cody as help over Dave any day. Dave would be helpful to have around, though.
Cody is a close friend of ours and I can tell you, he knows his stuff, he has earned All of his training. He is a great person. Dave does have some skills, but yes, he misrepesented himself.... had he been honest Cody would have someone else as his co-host. Mykel was a 2nd choice- he does know his stuff also. There were a few other non-famous Seals who were also in the running. The show works as it is, with Dave.
@jscanyon -- Thx so much for the insight. It's a pity about Dave's misrepresentations. I've read that Cody+Dave are actually friends in real life, but I have a hard time believing that. Sorry for the ignorance, but who is Mykel? In any case, it is too bad that non-famous Seals didn't make it as I will always be wary of Dave considering his lie. Regardless, thanks for your responses and take care. Please send Cody our regards. I've considered attending his school many times (too poor tho -- heh!)
@cantecleer, Mykel Hawke, the man from Man Woman wild. Cody and Dave don't really have any contact outside of filming.... prior to D.S. Cody had never heard of Dave- he doesn't have much computers-skills, or time to watch youtube videos. Don't give up on Cody's courses, they are worth it. =)
You take care and I will tell him how cool you are via youtube =)
@jscanyon -- Oh, I've seen Man Woman Wild. Good show, but just not one of my favorites (I do think the guy is a *lot* more patient/practical than Dave or Bear Grylls, however... which isn't saying much, tbh). It's not surprising that Cody doesn't use the internet much (I can't imagine a person with so many things going on sitting in front of a computer for very long). Still, thanks for passing along my regards and, of course, I won't give up on his courses (just have to save some $). Thx again^^
-- I think the clear contrast in styles (and my strong preference for the balance and pragmatism that Cody pursues) doesn't change the fact that Dave should still be respected and has a lot to offer people who are wanting to know more about survival. In a long-term setting, Cody is more the teacher and his ways are much more sustainable in the long term. There is something to be said about just plain guts, too... and I would never turn away a person like Dave if I were in a survival situation
My atti is well over 110' in the summer. I wouldn't be surprised if it is 140. Would putting a 55 gal drum of water for hot water in the summer be worth the money?
Great plan, Cody. I'm always frustrated that we build opaque roofs to block out unlimited free light, and then create artificial lamp light. Or that we have a 200 degree attic in the summer, and put our water tank in the basement to heat up in the coldest part of the hourse. Or that we have unlimited cold air in the winter and block it out and create a powered cold refrigerator box. Common sense stuff, right? I wish it was more common in new construction.
Cody did mention in one of the episodes, and it makes perfectly sense, that one tend to be more observant and careful were one put his feet when walking barefoot. One might think that you are more in danger of snakes and alike but it's actually the opposite, your slower pace and cautiousness prevents you from getting in to these situations in the first place and most boots would not protect you from snake-bites anyway, in that case you need a pair of snake gaiters and they are damn hot to wear.
@randomperson342 what! you mean that the years dont go in order? because im pretty sure so far the have gone sequentially, will we start jumping around in time? i hope we go from 2011 to 5683.
@Jumpybeaver My concern for cost was more of a planning stage; if I can't afford it, no one will build one for me... the long run is certainly a bonus, plus the idea of being free of the grid and it's glitches like power down everytime it storms and the usual tree across the line, frozen line, lighting strikes, or drunk driver hits a pole...
@threepercenter03 Or when a Squirrel touches a transformer and causes it to blow out. Then at Christmas. I heard, even if you don't hang lights, they still charge your bill for others who do. Since power companies just assume you'll hang lights as well. Not too sure how true that part is, but it's something I heard once.
@1a2b3cdf3 impressive but imo unnecessary. I enjoy watching quality image rather than watching something that looked like it was recorded with a phone by a novice cameraman.
this show has more entertaining scenes due to the fact that they don't need to film themselves every time they're about to do something.
@1a2b3cdf3 There are times when Les seemed to be followed by a crew; multiple camera angles, etc.... despite that, crew or not, these guys all are the "real deal", just with their own style of teaching.
in dual survival why is he always bare foot?? also is he a part of any religion or not?? i really want to know how he made that little tee pee lookin hut in the woods.. the one where he used big sticks and tree bark and moss to make the walls
@llHyRaXll He dosent believe in shoes,he wants to train his body the be more effcient against fighting off cold weather,he slowly removes items of clothing a little at a time over a long periods which allows his body to tempature regulate no matter what the elements are,and bypassing bio-degradable stuff such as the soles of shoes which will be on the planet for close to forever, basically he's a minimalist wanting to use what the earth supplies for us already
Little tip when you interview someone don't play music when they're talking. Music is for the intro, end and maybe even parts in the middle when nobody is talking.
I really want to build myself a self sustaining Round House. Man this place looks cool. So many cool 'Natural' Homes, and some kinds can be build fairly cheap... Idk how much this costs or how much time it took, but I know that new age celtic roundhouses can be built from $ 500 to around 1,000. If you use the natural clays in the earth around you.Lets all live like Hobbits :D
true. but cody's facts are far more legit. and he didnt stoop so low as to make a kid version of survivor on cartoon network. ill watch les, but i dont care for him.
@danceblast15 Yeah you're right :P but i still enjoy the survivorman show allot, because he actually does survive all alone in the wild. And he does get knowledge from guides before he goes in , but as all other shows it's "Entertainment" so as long as we enjoy watching it.... They've got what they want :D it's just awsome to see how minimalistic you can live as a person (meaning cody here) but i think if everyone tried to do the same it would be a great deal of chaos :P

@IHighLikePlane if people produced these robots, and maintained them for free, this would free other people from work.. but i dont know of anyone that builds and maintains robots to be given away for free... you would need a very large number of these robots, if you were planning on replacing peoples labors... there are billions of people working now.. and like i said, you are proposing a society ruled by the scientific consensus.. which i dont want..
longfootbuddy 4 months ago
@IHighLikePlane a society ruled by a scientific consensus, is just a form of democracy.. a group majority, ruling over individuals.. thats not what i want
longfootbuddy 4 months ago
@longfootbuddy Its not a group majority. The majority could say that the Earth is flat, but all the maps of the Earth would be round in an RBE because that is where the science and evidence points. Also no one tells you what to do. You get everything you need for free (within reason without causing a large environmental impact) and from there you can do with your life as you please.
IHighLikePlane 4 months ago
@IHighLikePlane no, im saying that in your system, it would be a scientific consensus which would determine how society would be run (ruled)... this obviously would be better than the majority of fools making the decisions for all of us, but i would prefer none of you make decisions for me.. i value individual freedom, and when you let groups of people decide whats best for me, i lose my freedom.. i do no harm to anyone, im a decent guy, i dont need or want groups taking away my freedom
longfootbuddy 4 months ago
@longfootbuddy I think you misunderstand the concept. When committees get together to make decisions it isn't to decide anything for you. Its to decide things like how to build a bridge, efficient cell phone designs, and what type of energy systems to implement.
If you want to go and live like the Amish no one would stop you, in fact you would still have access to all of the resources of the society free of charge. No one would tell you what to do. An RBE is the most free system I know of.
IHighLikePlane 4 months ago
@IHighLikePlane hey, im all for groups of people getting together to do a bunch of "free stuff" in the world.. use technology and scientific thinking to make the world better.. all for that.. but when groups get together to make decisions about how society should run, it tends to lead to regulating the lives of everyone, interferring with individual rights and happiness, and generally sticking their noses where it doesnt belong.. you understand, dont you?
longfootbuddy 4 months ago
@IHighLikePlane " Robots will turn like rabid dogs and murder everything with organic thought process. Earth will become devoid of life as we know it and be ruled and occupied by machines only. Never trust a machine smarter than you." A quote by Dr. I.P Freely PHD. on the upcoming robot containment legislation before Congress.
nerblebun 4 months ago
@IHighLikePlane according to wiki, the zeitgeist movement states that "there will be no decision-making process regarding greater social issues by human beings, those decisions are arrived at by using the scientific method, based on the carrying capacity of the Earth, rather than using human opinions. The replacement of human decision making by artificial intelligence" .. we may agree on the money, but i want to run my own life, rather than let scientists, machines, or anyone else do it for me

Cool house.
cantecleer 7 months ago
-- Did he say anthing in this about ventilation? It looks like he has venting windows on that south-facting wall, but I wonder if there are earth tubes or vents on the North side of the structure, or if that skylight can be opened to allow air to enter the structure. Also, I need to read more about "Shotcrete" (is it the same as ferro-cement, or whatever it's called?). I don't like how he goes to compost something and the camera doesn't follow... I'd like to know his setup and if he gardens.

You're the douchebag. Now go sit on your couch, eat some more potato chips and keep being an armchair critic.
tuscaniman25 7 months ago
@tuscaniman25 -- while I much prefer Cody and there *are* a lot of hokey things about Dave, I shudder when I see people totally dismissing what he brings to the equation. Sure, he makes boneheaded decisions and he is too much the glory hound when prudence and patience is really the better choice (e.g., his choice to hunt in Africa and thoughts about the shelter needing to be bigger in case he had to "fight a lion" = crazy). However, there is something to be said for a "get her done" attitude.
cantecleer 7 months ago
@cantecleer Look up "Dave Lies" or 'Dave Fake" and you will know why Dave is "hokey".
Cody has been teaching and living the life for 20+ years, Dave learned his info out of books and started making Youtube videos in 2008....
jscanyon 7 months ago
@jscanyon -- I'll check it out. I'm aware that he (and/or the show's producers) misrepresented his military service. You also really have a sense that Cody's approach is one that is developed from living the life, while Dave's is about fashioning himself as a celebrity. Still, learned recently from books or not, I think some of what Dave can do (and the skills he has) are useful. In a survival situation, I'd pick Cody as help over Dave any day. Dave would be helpful to have around, though.
cantecleer 7 months ago
@cantecleer
The show works as it is, with Dave.
jscanyon 7 months ago
@jscanyon -- Thx so much for the insight. It's a pity about Dave's misrepresentations. I've read that Cody+Dave are actually friends in real life, but I have a hard time believing that. Sorry for the ignorance, but who is Mykel? In any case, it is too bad that non-famous Seals didn't make it as I will always be wary of Dave considering his lie. Regardless, thanks for your responses and take care. Please send Cody our regards. I've considered attending his school many times (too poor tho -- heh!)
cantecleer 7 months ago
@cantecleer, Mykel Hawke, the man from Man Woman wild. Cody and Dave don't really have any contact outside of filming.... prior to D.S. Cody had never heard of Dave- he doesn't have much computers-skills, or time to watch youtube videos. Don't give up on Cody's courses, they are worth it. =)
You take care and I will tell him how cool you are via youtube =)
jscanyon 7 months ago
@jscanyon -- Oh, I've seen Man Woman Wild. Good show, but just not one of my favorites (I do think the guy is a *lot* more patient/practical than Dave or Bear Grylls, however... which isn't saying much, tbh). It's not surprising that Cody doesn't use the internet much (I can't imagine a person with so many things going on sitting in front of a computer for very long). Still, thanks for passing along my regards and, of course, I won't give up on his courses (just have to save some $). Thx again^^
cantecleer 7 months ago
-- I think the clear contrast in styles (and my strong preference for the balance and pragmatism that Cody pursues) doesn't change the fact that Dave should still be respected and has a lot to offer people who are wanting to know more about survival. In a long-term setting, Cody is more the teacher and his ways are much more sustainable in the long term. There is something to be said about just plain guts, too... and I would never turn away a person like Dave if I were in a survival situation

MILOSLAVJMP 8 months ago
Great plan, Cody. I'm always frustrated that we build opaque roofs to block out unlimited free light, and then create artificial lamp light. Or that we have a 200 degree attic in the summer, and put our water tank in the basement to heat up in the coldest part of the hourse. Or that we have unlimited cold air in the winter and block it out and create a powered cold refrigerator box. Common sense stuff, right? I wish it was more common in new construction.
polymythic 8 months ago
Cody did mention in one of the episodes, and it makes perfectly sense, that one tend to be more observant and careful were one put his feet when walking barefoot. One might think that you are more in danger of snakes and alike but it's actually the opposite, your slower pace and cautiousness prevents you from getting in to these situations in the first place and most boots would not protect you from snake-bites anyway, in that case you need a pair of snake gaiters and they are damn hot to wear.

Jumpybeaver 7 months ago
@threepercenter03 Not too sure. But think of the money it saves you in the long run.
Jumpybeaver 6 months ago
@Jumpybeaver My concern for cost was more of a planning stage; if I can't afford it, no one will build one for me... the long run is certainly a bonus, plus the idea of being free of the grid and it's glitches like power down everytime it storms and the usual tree across the line, frozen line, lighting strikes, or drunk driver hits a pole...
threepercenter03 6 months ago
@threepercenter03 Or when a Squirrel touches a transformer and causes it to blow out. Then at Christmas. I heard, even if you don't hang lights, they still charge your bill for others who do. Since power companies just assume you'll hang lights as well. Not too sure how true that part is, but it's something I heard once.

dual survival is a great show, but its got NOTHING on Les strouds Survivorman.
les did it all by him self...not even a camera crew. impressive to say the least
1a2b3cdf3 9 months ago
@1a2b3cdf3 impressive but imo unnecessary. I enjoy watching quality image rather than watching something that looked like it was recorded with a phone by a novice cameraman.
this show has more entertaining scenes due to the fact that they don't need to film themselves every time they're about to do something.
falco2G 9 months ago
@1a2b3cdf3 There are times when Les seemed to be followed by a crew; multiple camera angles, etc.... despite that, crew or not, these guys all are the "real deal", just with their own style of teaching.
