  • @ratrodgirl I have a cloyes gear drive on my big block dont really like the sound , but do they usually mess things up ?

  • @1986montecarloss496 i dont think they are rated for as many miles as a regular timing chain, but as long as your not going to be at high revs frequently or put 50,000 miles on your motor you should be fine. if you wanted to change it, it wouldnt cost much i think a roller timing chain is about $50 and its not hard to change

  • That like an 83 or so front end right? Cuz ive got an 83 silverado and the front end is the same

  • Has that gear drive wiped out the front crank bearing an cam bearing yet?

  • Love your truck man, building a 4X4 right now but one day going to do a 2X4 like that. GREAT JOB MAN!!!

  • wish it still had the proper front end on it .. late 70's style trucks looked so awesome

  • Why? Because fuck gas mileage!! I like it!

  • @camarogod93 hauls ass and drinks gas

  • Sounds cool. You should have let people hear the idle more. I like the sound of an oversized cam... bumpity bumputy crack bang bumpity

  • i sold my just like 1.500

  • Hey 247countryboy I know why the truck wont start up for a while its because your starter solenoid is getting to hot and its expanding u can buy a starter heat shield for it for like 5 bucks at autozone

  • What mufflers are you running......I really like the sound. I'm looking for good sounding mufflers for my 502 bigblock.

  • @5024X4 has 3 in exhaust with 3 in. one chamber flowmasters at rear end

  • lets see this bitch get up and get it

  • u have a nice car

  • awesome! what gear drive are you using (brand)?

  • @thunderup86 big...

    haha

  • @247Countryboy1 lol yeah really. I run a 268/ 280 duration lunati cam now with 110 lobe and 504 lift I think it works well with the 383 stroker I have in it. I would hate to over cam.

  • @thunderup86 Yeah, my 350sb in my 89 Silverado put down 450hp last time it was dynoed, wish I had been around for the build so I'd know more about it, was done in the 90's by my grandpa, if you shut it down or kill it hot it WILL NOT start for a good 20 mins lol

  • love that truck

  • Sweet 

  • @KSWR500Z lol oh yeah? wheres your truck.

  • What is the compression ratio on this motor?

  • @ledbetterbrothers around 10:1

  • @wolfdog2001 words of true hotrodder

  • this is disgusting

  • bad ass

  • is it still for sale?

  • @Sc0oteR60d nope sorry

  • @chevyguy1982 hat did you get for it?

  • Hmmm,, sounds like a gear timing set in there. :) It idle a little better once it warms up? That's the one downside to big N/A builds. Cold starts are no fun if you're not fuel injected.

Pretty sharp little truck. I'd have kept the 77 front end on it though rather than updating to the ~87 but that's just my own personal preference :)

Edit: haha yah i must have missed the Gear Drive part in the title. :p

  • I love that sound, that's sex for my ears

  • NICE TRUCK I HEAR A GEAR DRIVE~! IT SOUNDED LIKE A MILD CAM LIKE A 270 470 LIFT~! I WORK FOR SUMMIT~! BTW

  • what stage cam is that

  • @Bishn0zle dont know the exact size, but its got a good thump to it

  • love gear drive timing

  • sharp truck bud, its gotta good lookin body. I have a 77 chevy short bed with a 454, just thinkin about adding a weiand stealth hise rise intake and my quick fuel Q series 750 carb. that should work till i get a decent cam

  • @dustinj619 thanks, nothin sounds better than a thumpin cam

  • Nice truck, sounds damn good!!

  • What size cowl hood is that?

  • @dixieboycrf its a 4 inch

  • Hey man nice truck... how did you manage to put a newer front end on it? i've got a '77 front end and I like the look of the 1982+ truck way more so eventually I want to swap it.

  • Cool truck. They sure are fun aren't they?

  • thats not a 79 chevy

  • dude that thing is badass, 454? damn son haha...wanna trade for my 4.8 vortec? ahahaha

  • love the truck, ive got a 79 gmc stepside im puttin together, but im not gonna go so hi-perf. that it wont idle......youshould tighten down the ile screw on the carb so it might idle (built motors need higher idle speeds than stock)

  • @Texassince1836 the truck idles fine, its the cam that makes it thump. it idles on about 900 rpm, it just doesn't sound like it

  • it appears to be a 1979 with an 85-87 front end....it has the 73-80 dashpad and vent windows

  • your truck is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy.......

  • dang id love to have this bow tie sounds and looks good

  • that thing sounds healthy

  • @sickbro91 you should hear it now, its got a bigger cam, roller lifters and one chamber flowmasters on it. with a 750 holley off of a race car. i'll try to get a new video soon

  • we had a cam in a maverick one time so big that it wouldnt idol but that thing would turn a circle when u hit 3rd

  • This truck is clean and simple! Perfect job man I just want to know what kind of drop it has, like what springs or spindles in the front and what you got in the back? As well as how tall the front tires and back tires are. Thanks and good luck with it

  • Nice truck, If you need a bulletproof maddogtransmission let me know. I will also stand behind it with a one-year unlimited mile warranty. Thanks MaddogLou.

  • TSSSSSSSSSSSS brooo...your fuckn lucky....just looks beautiful..if i had that shytt...tsss i woulda tricked that shyt out...

  • That is just a flippin sweet ride man !!!

  • 80 was the first year with the square head lights 79 thay were round

  • what kind of gear drive

  • This aint a 79 its later than that! i had a 79 and the finder marker was up and down not sideways and it only had 1 headlight on each side not 4!

  • @MrJAK9584 its got a newer model front end

  • @chevyguy1982 and bed

  • dag thats a nice truck bad too like that color all i can say is niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that son of gun breathe takeing

  • sweet

  • headlights are 81to 87.....? weird,anyway nice yellow shorty....

  • i hate gear drives. Its like a fake-out. People think theirs a BDS blower on it and then oh, never mind its just a loud gear drive. kinda disappointing really.

  • whats the lift on this cam?

  • @numskull92 dont know exactly but its not too wild just has a good lopey idle

  • I am so glad you have this video on here. I bought a 454 and installed it in my chevelle the guy didnt tell me much about the motor. I started it up and it had that same noise. Thought he had sold me some junk until this video and hearing some talk about gear timing.

  • @mackadoo30 a lot of people like to run gear drives because they sound similar to the whine of a supercharger.

  • beast

  • The Chevy & GMC trucks had round headlights in 1979. There were no (optional)dual headlights until 1981. Whatever it is, it has a grille & headlight bezels from an '58, '86, or "87 with a 4-headlight setup. The parts are more easily available, The hood is aftermarket, from LMC Truck, Classic Parts of America, or Brothers.

  • is the p/u still 4 sale if so hit me back

  • @petsonopaver truck sold a while back, thanks

  • I've got the same stuff done to my 84 f150 but it's got a 351. I love to hear the whine of the damn gear drive :D

  • @blindskater200 i wish it was the whine of a supercharger, but i can pretend

  • @chevyguy1982

Me too dude, me too. My friends who ride with me are like 'wtf is that bro' and i fuck with em and say its a supercharger. Then a little farther down the road i just tell em it's the gear drive lmao.

  • @blindskater200 a lot of people dont even know what a gear drive is, and i have to explain it to them

  • Your cams way to big

  • is that a harwood fiberglass hood?

  • This is a really nice truck.

  • That cowl hood is smooth.....Chevy

  • man when i here that wein and it rev i want me a chevy truck sounds freakn awesome!

  • bitchin truck. i have a 77 chevy scottsdale. its a shortwide and im dropping a different 350 in it thats bored out a bit bigger and its been completely rebuilt. just got it painted too.

  • badass truck.....i have an 85 pro street runs mid high 11's on motor nothing tooo crazy

  • no such thing as a big cam, my dart has a wild cam in it, when its cold it doesnt even want to stary started, but boy let me tell you if you hold her hair long enough to get off the toilet...... shes a killa!

  • dam this is one nice truck i got the same truck but lifted and it sounds way worse wat carb u got? and what hood?

  • @bk8009 got a 750 Edelbrock carb and a 4 inch cowl hood

  • sounds like shit..

  • cams 2 big

  • @humantestdummy the bigger the better

  • @humantestdummy there's no such thing as too big of a cam!!

  • @aatemple sure there is. wheyour street motor runs like shit you will know why

  • @humantestdummy alright calm down it was a joke.

  • what year engine?

  • @snowman4839 Don't know for sure, but think it is mid 70s

  • no choke?

  • fucken nice

  • Jeeze it sounds like its got a supercharger, sounds like a belt!

  • what kind of flex fan do you have on that>?

  • a metal one

  • @chevyguy1982

    is that a 3inch or 4inch cowl-induction hood?

i want to run the tunnel-ram dual 4bbl intake manifold on my Dart 496 stroker and im thinking the 3in cowl hood will allow for my needed clearence.

    what do you think?

  • @youngron707

it is a 4 inch cowl. you may be able to run a 3 in. but be sure to leave room for adequate size air filters

  • I love the sound of that gear drive!

  • hey mann the truck rocks mann I've got an 83 c10 that I wanted to put a big block after seeing this video how can I refuse.

  • thanks, big block torque is awesome

  • I have a similar truck, 79 C-10 with stock 454, headers, Magnaflow mufflers, TH400 trans and a 14 bolt 4.10 rear end from a later 3/4 ton truck. Unfortunately it doesn't have the power I expected, but it is really setup more for towing than for racing. Nice truck btw! Why did you sell it? I dont think I could part with mine (even tho mine is an ugly gold color)

  • @torque395 didnt have to sell it, but decided to sell it before money got too tight. probably wont have another one as nice

  • i dont care what truck you chevy haters have, all i can say is..YOU CANT BEAT THIS TRUCK.

  • really nice truck, how much are u selling it for? and where u located?

  • @lablue350 already sold

  • hoy much do u want for it man?.and where are u located.its a really nice truck.

  • that sounds so amazing

  • Why does your gear drive sounds quiter then other pete jackson noisy ones? Or is it just a recording thing?

Sounds about right for me, not to quiet and not too loud to angry driving at the street..

  • its pretty loud in person, but not too bad

  • that is not a 79 that is almost a 85 - 88 i got an 86 looks the same...but does sound bad ass thumbs up !

  • whats it 1/4 mile time?

  • no runs at the track yet

  • LIFT YOUR TRUCK PUSSIES!

  • this truck would look stupid at factory height, being tubbed. looks much better lowered a little. its lowered 2 in. front and 3 in. back

  • @19cecil94 Pussy? your a fucking faggot this truck would dominate anything you have including your nissan truck that has a 12 inch lift? Pussy

  • @19cecil94

Lift the toilet seat and stop squatting to piss!

  • love it!

  • I have a 79 with a newer front clip 86 chevy fenders and a 87-91 suburban grille... you gotta change alot more than just the front clip... you have to cut up the cab to swap the hoods.. or nothing will line up like you want.. and/or look stupid with the old 70s hoods

  • I know that you can put a newer front end on an older chevy, but can you put an older front end on a newer truck. like take an 87 chevy and put on the front from a 75 chevy?

  • should work if you change the whole doghouse

  • @danraich I know it can be done, but don't know the details. It might be easier than you think. A guy in my neighborhood has a 64ish frontend on a mid 90's Blazer. Its a trip, to see. Its a nice, smooth transition.

  • @madtownmadman do you have a picture of that. I really want to see what that looks like.

  • @danraich I can take a picture of it, and send it to your email, or send you a pic message.

  • um okay then

  • to big of a cam for that rpm

  • nice very nice

  • too big of a cam

  • idk about yellow but everything else is fucking badass!!!

  • Beautiful truck. I recently bought an 86 with 101k original miles. Solid truck, all original. New paint and it would be like a brand new truck. Some old guy bought it new, garage kept....

  • Very nice. I have n 86 GMC almost the same color, but with rally stripes. Got a 383ci stroker that dynoed 468hp/471tq cuppled to a racing thc350 and a moser 12 bolt w/detroit tru trak

  • hey did you have to replace the fenders and all to get that grill? front clip? someone is telling me you have to replace the hole front clip to use that grill on my 80 c-10

  • it has already changed over when i got it, not for sure

  • yes you do.

  • thats a nice truck i have a 79 im workin on in the summer

  • thanks

  • @chevyguy1982 To use that grille you have to change the fenders out. My buddy put an 83 front end on a 78 dually crewcab and the cutouts in the fender for the grille wont match.

  • nice toy

  • will that grill fit a 80? chevy c-10. im baggin my stepside and been looking at diffrent grills, 396 big block

  • probably will if you use the headlights and all.

  • thanks

  • @justinRkeaton you would have to swap the whole front clip if you wanted to use a later grill like say a 81 or newer. fenders and everything are different from 73-80 and 81-87(91 for blazers and subs)

  • your vid made me miss my truck .. lol. had a 86 c-10 painted corvette yellow ...man o man i miss that truck. you should check out the Phantom grill for that style front end, looks real good.

  • yeah phantom grill looks awesome

  • THIS is what I want all my trucks to sound like!!

  • come on lets hear a real rev =p

  • if thats a 79 then it's got an 82 or newer front clip

  • @dharman19662u he said it has a newer front end

  • @dharman19662u that is an 81-87 that front clip is a 85-87. it isnt that hard to change the front clips

  • @dharman19662u Its an 81 or newer front. 73-80 had the older front, which i liked better, then it changed for 81-87.

  • What size cowl hood is that? is that a flex fan I hear... sounds evil!

  • 4 in. cowl, gear drive is what you hear whining

  • Can you explain to me whats a gear drive? I heard there a lil out dated now

  • instead of a timing chain, you just have two gears, one from the cam and one from the crank, that are splined together so no chain is needed. a lot of people still run them, just seems to be thought of as "old school"

  • Thanks. Yah I'm looking for a beater for my graduation present. Something I can work on during the summer and take to the track.

  • Yeah i like it you got a real clean ol school look neva gets old.

  • nice so you changed the front end on it? grill etc

  • yeah, has newer front end on it

  • Sweet ride! what is your exhaust set up and brand?

I like the way it sounds... smooth, yet aggressive...

    let me know.

  • is your hood fiberglass or steel?

  • steel hood with the cowl scoop molded into it
