  • but if you give up caffeine, nicotine and junk food, wheres the fun in life ?

  • Thanks for your work to educate concerning caffeine! I am caffeine-free after 44years(!) of addiction. It can be done, and is completely worth it.

  • Thank You So much.

  • Just stopped drinking coffee for a week now and feel I've got my sanity back! What a drangerous mind altering substance. Should be banned and classified as dangerous and health effects well publicised.

  • caffeine does not increase vasodillation, it constricts cerebral blood flow up to 32% with dose 200mg of caffeine.

  • I agree, people should quit caffeine but taking tyrosine could benefit only if you dont quit, because when you do, your thyroid would find itself unable to produce its own levothiroxine. Which means you would have to continue drinking supplements, cause you will now have hypothyroidism

  • Caffeine has the biggest effect on my mood. I have been without caffeine for about a day and a half now, and before that, consumed half of my daily amount. Needless to say, I am in agony. My mood swings have gotten SEVERE and I have been much more depressed as usual. However, I am determined to not have to put up with the demands of a caffeine tolerance any longer.

  • Yes, caffeine has a huge impact on moods - at least that was my experience too. Just stay with it for a while, reduce your intake in small steps, but consistently. If you need some more reasons to quit, feel free to check my vids :)

  • i quit tea and coffee and my migraines have gone away, my heart doesnt flutter and i think cofeine is a slow poison. all the arable land wasted on the production of coffee and tea and tobacco is a horrible crime

  • Could you elaborate a bit on "quitting tea"?

What kind of tea did you drink?

I drank coffee and have quitted that, but I have since started to drink Tea - 1 cup of green tea and another one of herbal tea daily...

  • is there really a link to tyrosine supplementation and Melanoma?

  • quit coffee 4 days ago.

taking tyrosine. seems to really work.

feel much more alert after taking tyrosine.

also used Pascoe nuerapas balance (natural) supplement to help me through the caffeine withdrawl.

  • coffee is definitely a major factor in preventing weightloss and contributing to weight gain.

could you comment on the relationship between coffee, cravings, insulin resistance, glucose uptake, abdominal fat, weightloss and weight gain?

since drinking coffee again, i have regain 25 pounds of the 50 pounds previously lost. I know that drinking coffee has significantly contributed to this weight gain.

  • as a side note:

I have always had trouble loosing weight even when counting calories from food and exercise.

while dieting, I switched to decaf coffee and still had poor results.

after quitting coffee altogether, my weight dropped steadily and i was able to loose 50 pounds in a year on a diet counting calories from food and exercise without any supplements or thermogenics(eating 6 times a day 40% protein 20%fat 40% carbohydrates = 1800 calories).

  • Dr.Persall thanks for this video!

i made the mistake of going back to coffee and now am looking for the best way to quit again.

I will try tyrosine to mitigate the withdrawl symptoms and boost alertness. do you have any other recommendations as well?

  • Never mind, I'm going to wean myself off of coffee and take your suggestions. Is decaf ok for the taste?

  • I'm going to try to go a week without coffee...I'm scared. :-)

  • The negative effects of coffee are not remotely compensated for by the positive. Fortunately there are alternatives which can be delicious, beneficial, and nourishing. And, given the powerful marketing techniques of sellers of stimulants, do not doubt that the "Beneficial" qualities of coffee are highly overrated to induce you to consume it without concern, so as to enrich the corporations who are the middlemen in its sale and distribution.

  • Thanks ..

I really want to kick my "addiction" of coffee. At the moment I am up to 2 pots a day. But now it is gonna stop!

Good advice from the nice doctor :)

  • Ummmm....What about all the hard research about the benefits of 1 or 2 cups of coffee per day? Many studies by the way are of the independent variety? Sorry but i totally disagree with you here.

  • Coffee has some indisputably wonderful qualities, Especially taste and pleasure. And yes, some of its chemical constituents are beneficial. However, the body will use three times the amount of water ingested by drinking coffee, to expel the toxins within coffee, The kidneys are very adversely affected by caffeine, thats why it makes you pee so much and causes bowel movements, in addition to the profound adrenal imbalance and consequences spoken of in the video.
