They are going after Rangel, he is under investigation as we speak. They didn't want any vote on him until the findings are in. Remember the presumption of innocence? When and if found in violation, he will be punished. If they can't prove the case against him, he will escape punishment. That's how our legal system works. (not applicable to the poor and minorities in Texas)

Presumption of innocence? Rangel is an admitted tax cheat. He should be punished. In fact, there is a video of him saying he should be held to a higher standard. And Nancy Pelosi promised the "most open and ethical Congress in history." You won't get that as long as a tax cheat is writing the tax code. As for the "presumption of innocence" part, where was that when feminists were attacking the Duke lacrosse team for a rape that never happened?

They have been investigating Rangels corruption for over 3 yrs now. If I ever took this long to conduct an investigation with 3/4s of the evidence in front of my face like his is. Yes they had senates, but the senators were of the upper class only. In many greek city states senators were senators for life.

Maybe you are correct about one city state, I am not an expert on the civic organization of all greek cities, but most were not as you discribe.

B-Turtle, not an expert either. I do recall reading or seeing somewhere (The History Chan) about the ancient Greeks. They pulled from the populace ppl to serve in the senate. Most could only serve a short time, and they cold be banned for life by the senate vote. There was no indication from which they pulled ppl to serve. It may very well have been a glossed over version. The part I liked the most was the self sanctioning of senators. And if I recall right the majority did not serve long
