  • had the privilege of seeing S.M. after the breakup of humble pie. he was doing the steve marriot all stars. TOTAL hard rock....all i remember of THAT night was steve marriot and later in the show frank marino and mahogany rush. MARRIOT ROCKED !!!

  • I had the privelige of seeing these guys many times. The best live rock n roll band live EVER. Marriott was simply awesome.

  • i used to call mcdonalds big & tasty hamburger the hot & nasty

  • Hot and nasty right now- boogLOO Real cool

  • Saw them with Edgar Winter and Gentle Giant in 73. They frickin rocked the Cincinnati Gardens to the ground. The acoustics were shit in that building but somehow they overcame. Awesome live band.!!

  • I'm too lazy to look this up for myself, but did this song come before or after Robert Plant? If it came before, Plant stole SO much from Marriott. Kind of losing my love for Plant a little bit after hearing Marriott. I think I read somewhere that Plant used to come to all Marriott's shows, like some kind of groupie. Must've been taking notes.

  • @StarlightJones It came after .... *but*....for proof look up Small Faces "You Need Lovin'" Robert totally ripped off Steve's style.

  • saw them in '73. to this day one of the best concerts ever

  • in retrospect, how did not become a super group with steve marriot on vocals and peter frampton on lead guitar?...i just dont get it...

  • how is marriott not on rolling stones top 100 singers?

  • @viktorsage i ask the same thing bout Paul Rodgers.

  • Comment removed

  • RIP - why compare bands? just enjoy.

  • Peter Frampton was great in his own right, but he flat out sucks compared to Steve Marriot.

  • 1 guy didn't get the message

  • Peter Frampton's Old Band! I Wonder if he sang this?

  • @ThePaddyjoejr1 No way! They had three singers in the beginning & this is one of the very best English "Blooze" and Soul singers that ever stalked and spit on on a stage, the great Steve Marriot.

  • @craiglouis Well, I Just Know Peter Frampton.

  • @ThePaddyjoejr1

Steve Marriot sang this. By far a greater singer than Peter Framton.

  • @oberfour1 That's your version! Peter Frampton is Better!

  • an advertisment at the begining of the video some big buisness is profiting off of steve mariots work pretty ironic

  • humble pie blows away Grand Funk (not even in the same league)

  • @dealer262 Not really, they were both Great!

  • more cowbell

  • Hard Rockin' Funk, nice but not so good as Grand Funk Railroad

  • Hey "ForReelFunk" hell yes to the old 8-tracks, LOL , you just brought back some dam good old Memories from the past, lol never again will there be any good old days like them ever again !!! but Rock & Roll will live forever !!!

  • Agree'd...I wore out my 8-track because of this song and that sound!!!

  • rock'n....e nuff said !!

  • Steve Marriott never received his recognition as a True Superstar. Not only did it take TWO people to replace him from the Small Faces to the Faces (Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood)…but he also was responsible for launching Peter Frampton’s career. If it weren’t for Marriott…we’d have NEVER heard of Led Zeppelin…few known facts…Plant heard Marriott in the early days and decided to pick up his sound...Jimmy Page LOVED it and signed him immediately!!!

  • @1bermudian Someone knows his music history. Kudos. Visit my channel you may like some of what you hear. Either way Raise a drink for the greats like Marriot , Rodgers and the rest.

  • Dont forget to........CLICK CLICK.......shake that thing !!!!! HA HA wore that Lear Jet 8 track player slap ass out on this song!!! thanx for the post

  • you got to do it with feeling and your gonna hit the ceiling

  • Don't forget to shake that thing! What a great song!

  • I'll never forget the time my older sister bought this album home and my 3 year old niece drove a pencil right through the vinyl. Oh what a waste of a great album. Thanks for uploading theseeker23

  • Holy cow from India! I remmeber, back in the 70s listening to this song whilst I puked on my girlfriend''s ta tas!

    Great song!

  • I got to meet.. and play some tunes with him!! back in the 70's.....

he is missed what a talent....and a founder of modern rock....

  • sounds alot better than that shit boa put out. did they get this song from hp?

  • Steve Marriott...Oh how I miss those vocals, that soul, and the spirit of his music. He was truly one of a kind.

  • How many of you are aware that Marriott was the lead in the musical "Oliver" at about 9?

  • yea i gopt the message !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am fiftey something and had the orignal album when it first came out. smokein was the best album

  • @sk8terscope410

I used to play it on the 8 track in my car! Still have the LP.

  • don't forget to shake that thang!!!!

  • " Hot - N - Nasty "

    One of my "Fav,s " !

  • who dat? who dat say mercy?

  • Rockin!

  • I"m 52 years old and it makes my heart skip beats and reminds me, back in the day..... I love it.

  • @owensg2758, I'm 47 and I feel the exact same way.

  • This is Classic Pie Fans! Oh Yeah!!!!!

  • Love it!

  • by the way, the rapper "Tone Loc" sampled Hot and Nasty.

  • I had a woman like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Steve Stills on the B3 and Jerry Shirley on a Fender Rhodes ...I think

  • yeah-other posters have me wondering: why hasn't SM been inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame? His work with Small Faces was groundbreaking, not to mention Humble Pie.

  • Thanks for posting, got my day started well.

  • "Don't forget to shake that thing!"

  • did he say who dat at the beginning?

  • lol..yep.

  • If you don't at least start tapping your foot when this song starts, you should be checked for a pulse.

  • 9 thumbs up, and well deserved. This has got to get you going.

  • @fredhetz Amen brother, you said it. The Pie was pure unadulterated kick ass rock and roll with no flash pots or any other gimics. If this dont make you get of your ass and jam your not breathing anymore. ROCK ON.

  • @fredhetz So True!

  • @fredhetz Its a damn reflecs for me now when such a groovy song starts :D '

I dig Marriotts voice sooo much!

  • @jnotheman, I agree with you completely.

  • @fredhetz does my big toe count?

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe, it works for me!

  • I always wonder what Marriott's best vocal performance is? Probably Hot 'n' nasty or Tin soldier. There's also great singing on Say no more, Theme from skint, I'm only dreaming, I believe to my soul? No doubt he was the best rock vocalist ever.

  • @DickyGilbersMusic : i would have to say that marriots best vocal performance would be "you need loving" when he was with the small faces.

  • @WatsAVideo : That's indeed a very influential performance. Nice!

  • That's weird because Stephen Stills is present on Smokin'. His backing vocals were over-dubbed on this song.....so did he plagiarise himself?

  • Stevie Marriot and Janis Joplin would have made a good duo, but she died too soon.

  • from drugs :(

  • how about steve and tina turner then?

  • One of the best songs from the 70's. The Small Faces with Stevie Marriot were pretty cool too. Saw these guys with Pete and later with Clem. Phenonemal band. Steve Marriot belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I've been told some asshole from Rolling Stone and Sharon Osborne are blocking his entrance. Must've boinked the eggheads girl and Sharon doesn't want it to get out that her father Don Arden was the terd who ripped these guys off. Anyway great fukking song.

  • Dayyum. You must be an old turd karlforston. LOL. Don't feel alone. Getting ready to turn 49 this summer. Bwahahahaha....

  • saw Robin Trower open up for Humble Pie - thier last tour - Robin blew them away - Saw Montrose open up for the Stones - great show.

  • Saw them open for Montrose! Rochester War Memorial, early 70's. Of course Montrose had Ronnie Montrose and Sammy Hagar....that was the real f*ckin' deal.

I'd love to see Stevie come back from the dead and kick the shit out of the "bands" today. Blink 182 my ass.

  • You could always count on Pie to rock your socks off. Other headline bands would clamour to get either Pie or Climax Blues Band as openers. Either were guaranteed to whip the crowd into a rock & freakin' roll frenzy & ready for them. Similar to the early days of Fleetwood Mac when they toured w/Arthur Brown ("Fire") as openers. You asked yourself, "Who the hell are these guys", & by the time their set was over, there was no need to ask again.

  • greg ridley is amazing on the bottom end of pie. i luv these guys.

  • hoo dat

  • God , I miss those days when you had bands like this. If I had a time machine, I'd go back - hey, sounds the making of a good song

  • hey musicquest would that be a good rory gallagher song?

  • grand funk had a song called ' time machine'.their awsome, as well is humble pie.

  • @clamdraggin Man, just listened to a few slices of pie, and my ears are going to be ringing for hours. Thanks for getting me back into the deep end again..."Roll it baby."

  • Bless Steve Marriott for giving us the real energy that rock and roll is really all about. rest in piece,

  • @cindybarfield1 So true Cindy. Never a voice like it in all of rock annals. Perfect match for the band.

  • glad someone shares my humble opinion. no really, there's not much that i don;t like about HP even when Peter Frampton left, they still had a sound like no other. "Glad that PF was a shining star in his own right. love that man too.

  • there just another chip-tossed in the air--lets go.

  • Just f-ing WOW!!! ....30 plus years and I still love these guys. Ladies and Gents, it don't get much better than this

  • amazin stuff

  • the real nitty gritty folks....don't get better.

  • Amen jhnsn56! Steve is pure genius, what a great voice and man, they have the groove over and over again.

  • Saw Steve come into SamAsh..pull out his '58 LPjr..wail away on Hiwatt stacks..just before

Rockin'Fillmore..loved the bro from then on..

Smokin is still smokin..RIP bro you'll always be remembered!!!

  • I can see what The Black Crowes were listening to back in the day.

  • exactly, and thankfully keepin' this music alive!

  • @sciencekiller EXACTLY! Thats what

I thought when I first heard Black Crowes

Nothing against them ...But this is the real deal right here!!!

  • The Crowe's are great big fans of humble pie it's in their bio!

    It's why I digg'em!

  • I like the bass in this song..

  • I believe that is Steve playing Hammond. At least it was when I saw them do it live in 1972 at Gaelic Park in the Bronx

  • Oh, I got my head in a cloud

    I wanna sing it loud

I'm gonna stand out in the crowd

You got to do it with the feelin'

Don't forget to shake that thing...

    Do it with the feelin'

Then you gonna, then you gonna hit the ceiling

    So hot 'n' nasty!

Damn we love you Steve Marriott! RIP

  • unreal

  • This song kicks total ass thanks for posting. Nobody new today can touch this shit. whofan

  • @oberfour

    Hey,glad you liked it.

  • @oberfour Oh yes! The true church is music, & this voice is the saviour!

  • You said it man.@oberfour

  • Stephen Stills???

  • Steve Marriot had THE Voice...no shit...He was one of the many considered for Led Zeppelin...Peter Frampton was a fool to leave HP if You ask Me...That Sellout Pop Bitch!!

  • Led Zeppelin with Steve Marriot would have been

    perfect,

    I love his singing voice.

  • That's Stephen Stills on organ and backup vocals.

  • From reserach, Stills only played organ on "Road Runner "G"", Clem played keyboards on "Hot "n" Nasty".

  • to the vocalist who died from falling asleep with a lit ciggerate i hope he rests in peace cause the was something very special... and his voice was spectacuilar!!!!.

  • Yo! Down-home Funk, Rock & Soul! Kick-Ass Rock- n- Rollers from England.

  • This is real Rock and Roll! the kids need to hear this

  • anyone remember ... when this song came out, instantly one out of three wide wheeled low-in-front, shag-carpeted van was named 'Hot'n'Nasty'. I saw Marriot and Frampton at the Long Beach (CA) arena in 72 I think. What a show. Screamed until sore-throated - but couldn't get them to sing 30-days. They even came out for 3 encores. Them's the days.

  • No one sounds as down and dirty to this day as Humble Pie. This and "30 days in the hole" are the ultimate songs about sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. RIP, Steve Marriott!

  • Rock On! This still sounds as good as it use to on Friday nights in the dorm. We use to put on Hot N' Nasty and start the party.

  • wow who dusted that one off oh well it's all good

  • Doobie time again . . . now where did I put those 8-tracks?

    Rock On!

  • The cool this about this album, Humble Pie had lost Peter Frampton from their lineup and were considered headed down for sure. And this album sold in the top 10 or better. Please, clue me in. I knew nothing about Humble Pie at the time and this album caught my attention.

  • The closest to Steve Marriott now days is CHRIS ROBINSON from the Black Crowes.

  • total wannabe

  • Hey hippiegirl!
