This can't be as early as 1923. It sounds like an electrical recording, 1925 or later. Did Grey Gull make recordings? I wasn't aware that they did. Or is it a "borrowed" master from a cross-licensing deal with another record company? Nice set-up you have, by the way.
I think you're right. Kind of tough pinning down a date for the Grey Gull recordings, but this was actually released about 1928, that's when hobo and bum songs were all the rage. The flip side of this record was HALLELUJAH, I'M A BUM, a 1928 song.
