Had to pause the video (dammit) to comment on the dollar coins.
I like coins, they're nicer than dollar bills, and all paper bills look pretty much the same.
But the whole reason they first made paper bills was because coins were too heavy! If the U.S. Mint took away the 1 dollar bill (arguably the most common bill in circulation) and replaced them all with coins... I shouldn't have to continue.
I lived in Israel before I moved to the US and there they have shekel coins with 10 shekels being the biggest value coin. Paper bills range from 10 shekels to 200 shekels. My point here is, the Israeli shekel is 1/4 the value of a US dollar and considering the US dollar keeps losing its value, there's no reason why the US should keep the $1 bill alive. I'd even turn the $5 into a coin and that way there'll be room to give birth to $200 bills. Oh and yes pennies are useless.

I think we should switch to bills that look like the polymer notes in Australia. They're differently colored for visually impaired and they have significantly better durability than the paper dollar. I mean if it's really about how long something lasts, why not make it out of something other than paper?? Plus the polymer notes are harder to counterfeit. Seriously, coins? Give me a break.

Changing the dollar to a coin is such a small change that it won't help the economy in the long run. What needs to be done is a complete change in the economic system in the US and around the world. Seriously, this is basically the reason why ppl are out there protesting, because of the economy. Sadly, our representatives do not understand that this change needs to happen. And they also cannot even begin to comprehend how to fix it.

Down with pennies! I worked at a movie theatre and all of our prices included tax, so the smallest denomination of change you'd get ever was a nickel. As an employee, it made EVERYTHING so much easier.
I think changing to the coin is a good idea! I have known the dollar is going to crash for a while. The dollar bill isn't even worth a dollar. Silver and gold coins is where the money is at! I've been buying silver to secure my future and the future of my children. Silver is currently about 33$ for an ounce. Silver and gold have always been worth more than paper and will outlast the paper bill.
Doesn't matter if the Gov saves 5-6 bil on this coin because they'll find some way to squander it (ie Bailouts that go to pay outragious bonuses to uber rich a-holes who grossly mismanage thier companies). Occupy Movements need to focus on Corporate and Government corruption, Rights of the consumer, and Civil liberties that protect Americans' from taking flash-bang grenades to the face
I don't know if the coin dollar will help. I hate change in general. So I don't know if I would like it. And I mean the 5.6 or 6.5 million or billion (can't remember which one it is) is a start yes it's not much but it's a start. And on the occupy thing I don't know much about it but the stun grenade into the middle of that crowd was completely unnecessary. I hope the guy who got hit is ok.

The occupy movement is a consensus based movement made up of people from many many different perspectives. We are our own leaders and this is the reason for the disorganization. I agree that some of us are disillusioned and/or using the attention that the movement is generating for their own benefit or for causes not related to the movement, ie. legaliazation of marijuana ect ect. That is sad but the majority of us know what we are fighting for. I am very proud of our vigilance. :)

QOTD: I support the "Occupy" protests, but I do agree that they need to become more organized and set specific goals. As US citizens, we have the right to protests. The police are pigs and have no right to do some of the disgusting things they have done.

I gotta say I'm disappointed. Yeah, 1% of the population is richer than the rest but to go so far as to say we are the other 99%? It's ludicrous. If that's true, they should be 98.999% because the way I see it, I'm in that other percentile and I don't agree with it at all. If people want to protest economic and social inequality, then fine. But don't say you represent the rest of us because not everyone agrees. I do agree it got out of hand in this case

Changing the dollar to a coin is such a small change that it won't help the economy in the long run. What needs to be done is a complete change in the economic system in the US and around the world. Seriously, this is basically the reason why ppl are out there protesting, because of the economy. Sadly, our representatives do not understand that this change needs to happen. And they also cannot even begin to comprehend how to fix it.

Down with pennies! I worked at a movie theatre and all of our prices included tax, so the smallest denomination of change you'd get ever was a nickel. As an employee, it made EVERYTHING so much easier.

I think changing to the coin is a good idea! I have known the dollar is going to crash for a while. The dollar bill isn't even worth a dollar. Silver and gold coins is where the money is at! I've been buying silver to secure my future and the future of my children. Silver is currently about 33$ for an ounce. Silver and gold have always been worth more than paper and will outlast the paper bill.

Doesn't matter if the Gov saves 5-6 bil on this coin because they'll find some way to squander it (ie Bailouts that go to pay outragious bonuses to uber rich a-holes who grossly mismanage thier companies). Occupy Movements need to focus on Corporate and Government corruption, Rights of the consumer, and Civil liberties that protect Americans' from taking flash-bang grenades to the face

I don't know if the coin dollar will help. I hate change in general. So I don't know if I would like it. And I mean the 5.6 or 6.5 million or billion (can't remember which one it is) is a start yes it's not much but it's a start. And on the occupy thing I don't know much about it but the stun grenade into the middle of that crowd was completely unnecessary. I hope the guy who got hit is ok.

The occupy movement is a consensus based movement made up of people from many many different perspectives. We are our own leaders and this is the reason for the disorganization. I agree that some of us are disillusioned and/or using the attention that the movement is generating for their own benefit or for causes not related to the movement, ie. legaliazation of marijuana ect ect. That is sad but the majority of us know what we are fighting for. I am very proud of our vigilance. :)
