I actually think this movie is realistic in ways. Most teenagers go to their friends for advice instead of grown-ups because they think their friends will relate to them more. I think most of the people who were coming to Charlie for advice and drugs realized that his advice was genuine and that he was a good guy, so when he stopped selling the drugs they still went to him. And not everybody came to him for drugs in the first place. Kat didn't...the girl who dated Tyler Hilton didn't.

Talking in clear cohesive sentences is not as easy as it seems, particularly if you are required to stick to a particular subject and a particular style.

When actors act, they know their lines, so they can say them properly. When they talk informally, they can say whatever they want, but when they are in an interview, the have to come up with things to say and then constantly control and censor themselves before they actually say anything. It takes a lot of practice to do this fluently.

The skills you've outined are skills that all people should have regardless of their occupation. Imagine that you are talking to someone for the first time. Isn't that conversation an interview? You ask them questions and vice versa. Wouldn't you practice the same kind of quick thinking and the same kind of control in what you say that an actor would use in an interview? The only differences here are the presence of a camera and the fact that it's a one sided interview/conversation.
