  • I read the features on a web page and it said this is a detachable face receiver, is this true???

  • no, it's not true. As far as I know only some JVC models have detachable screens.

  • Hey, stupid question.. Where do you put in the CD/DVD?

  • The monitor slides down and behind it there is the slot.

  • how does the background look when u use a photo jpeg? im really considering getting this but i want to kno how good that looks

  • It doesn't look too bad. Nothing amazing but it is ok. It looks much better if you resize the jpeg to the screen resolution!

  • can u change the button color from green to another color and can u change the back round as well

  • Yes you can change it in many other colours. And you can change the background as well.

  • @manchester777..can we put any picture for wallpaper? this pioneer have equalizer follow the beat of song u play like Sony? because i want to buy one but not decide yet which product i want to buy..pls help me,TQ

  • I don't have an ipod. If i wanted it to play music videos and movies from a regular usb drive or DVD what format does it need to be converted to? or is that possible?

  • From a USB you can only play music files (e.g. mp3s). From a DVD you can play divx (avi) and DVDs. Check the pioneer website as well for more info but these are the major ones you would want I guess.

  • thx for the tip! that's works. Still tryna figure out all it's functions. I love it tho, I'll check out their site!

  • question:

the ipod cord you buy it splits off into the USB and The earphone piece, do you have it plugged into both ports? i wanted to hook up the ipod cord for my iphone but also a aux cord incase I need to be using the phone... so what functions will work if just the USB part is plugged in?

  • I use the USB that is used to connect a PC. Using that I only get ipod controls (NO video). If the appropriate Pioneer cable is used (the one that has USB and 3.5mm jack) you get video as well. I don't think the phone use has anything to do with the AUX.

  • Any feedback how this compares to the kenwood ddx514? pros and cons of both?

  • sorry, can't do comparison. I haven't seen the kenwood in use so I can't say.

  • thanks. i'm into that last shadow puppets music, too!

  • Where's part 2?

  • Coming Soon

  • does this have a sd slot

  • Unfortunately no, it doesn't have one.

  • please help im buying this HU in about a month..but are you able to add a custom background with a picture by a CD?? and can you use a picture from an Ipod for the background??

  • You can add a custom background from a USB stick as far as I know. I don't know if it's possible from a CD or iPod.

  • Where do you inser the cd?

  • Behind the screen. You press eject button and the monitor tilts to reveal the place where you insert the disc

  • @oldschoolrep69 lol......

  • Hey I've always wondered if you install one of these can you still use the steering wheel control, or does it get disabled.

  • You need an adapter to connect the steering wheel buttons to the unit.

  • It gets disabled. You have to buy another part called a steering wheel interface it hooks in and makes it so you can use the steering wheel controls with the after market radio. They run around 49.99 plus shipping. If you search around you maybe able to get one for lower then that and with free shipping. Make sure it works with your radio.

  • Does this come with a Double Din install kit? or do i need to buy one for my 2002 VW?

  • I am not sure because I did not install it myself. I think it doesn't include it.

  • Did you have bestbuy do it? If so are they anygood?

  • No I didn't. I bought it from a car stereo shop in Athens, Greece.

  • i installed it in my own mk4 jetta and no it doesnt come with a double din installation kit and apparently they dont exist..as ive been told, but what i did i used the clips from the stock deck modified them a bit and put the on my double din deck and it was still moving a bit so i added some cardboard to jam it in place and than put the cover that goes around the deck and it works perfectly

  • Yeah i got that same line of BS when i called a radio store. That they don't make Double Din install kits. I called the best buy install department and they said they sell them and it's what they use. Just run a search for a double din install kit is what they told me.

  • You must not have a whole lot of music on your USB device for it to start so fast...my 17GB of music on my fast USB hard drive takes 1 minute 5 seconds to start playing every time I switch to it.

    Otherwise great unit!

  • hey is this a detachable?

  • nope. it is fixed.

  • sorry for off topic, but whats the name of the song at 0:11 its so great...what album?

    thanks

  • Hed Kandi - The Mix Spring 2009

CD2 (Saturday night Mix) - Song 3: Ricki-Lee - Wiggle It (Soul Junkie Remix)

    :-)

  • thaks a lot:)got it:))) many thanks for your review:)

  • Can the time be changed to 12 hour instead of 24? Ive heard its only 24hour clock like military time is this true?

  • yup its true..wtf loll

  • Thats weak!!!

  • Yes, you can add custom backgrounds like your daughter or something, only in JPEG format

  • do u get to add custom backgrounds?? like a picture of your daughter or something??

  • if you want to watch videos (of course your passengers) just go to ebay and search words: pioneer avh-p4100dvd bypass

  • do you have to be in park to watch dvd's?

  • Yes, but there is a hack that by-passes that "problem"..I don't know how its done. somebody else did it for me.

  • Do you have the blue tooth module hooked up?

I have not been able to pair my phone :(

  • I am sorry but I don't have it at all. Did you try all the combinations (phone first, then device and vice versa) ?

  • What Phone do you have? I have 2 paired to it and it works OK, not as well as my factory. Its almost as you need to make your phone recognizable and hit search at the same time on the Pioneer, It should atleast list your phone if it is indeed compatible., once its listed you need to register your phone, and to do this hold down the register 1 button while the desired phone is connected. Dave

  • Seems weird. Unfortunately I am not using the unit with my phone (don't like the whole idea of others listening the conversations, so I use an ear bluetooth device).

  • Thanks a Million. My other question is will this unit play them back to back or stop after every video?

    I appreciate your response. Dave

  • I think it will play them back to back (or you can "force it" to play them back to back by editing them using specialized software like Movavi Video Converter)

  • Thanks I will look into it. Thanks for all the help, Dave

  • I figure I would ask on multiple posts as I would love an answer

I was wondering if its possible to put music videos on a dvd or ipod and have them play continously back to back or even shuffle them (and what file formats are best)... If anyone knows this answer that would be awesome! ~Dave

  • You can put music videos on a dvd or ipod( but you must buy the extra cable to connect the ipod to the unit). Thge ipod format is .mp4 and you can put .avi files on a dvd or use software (like ConvertXtoDVD) to convert them all into a DVD.

  • Do you have the special cable that is suposed to play ipod video? I do and I can not get it to play the video I only get sound. Ipod is not a choice for some reason in the AUX, so I can not link that with the ipod...any ideas? This is if you are using that cable with your ipod video...Thanks, Dave

  • The cable is the one that connects to both AUX and USB ports of the unit.Have you configured the ipod in order to send the signal to external sources? I don't have the cable my self (thinking of getting it though) and your question has given me some concern about it...

  • Good News I fixed it. I had to manually do a reset with a paper clip. I had to set up the aux to point to the ipod on the INITIAL SETUP. It was set wrong when I fist turned it on and did not recognize the ipod. So you must have the ipod plugged in when you first turn it on for the first time or you have to reset it like I did. Overall I love it and the video works great now! Thanks.

  • Excellent news! Thanks for the feedback!

  • One last thing, How do you get your own photos as the wallpaper? I cant get pictures to load off my ipod and I tried a mpeg on a usb, but it will not read it. Unless its just a corrupt file/picture.

  • I don't think it can be done via the ipod. Try loading it from a USB stick or a DVD (in a folder named PHOTOS so they are separate from mp3's).

  • Oh thats the Key is to have a folder named photos....Thanks!

  • i have the same problem i cant watch my ipod videos y just hear the music can u help me please thanks

  • with your vehicle off and your ipod hooked up to the cable use a pen or paper clip and push that tiny reset button on the left bottom corner and hold it in for about 20 seconds or so. From here, turn your vehicle on and get into the "INITIAL SETUP" screen and set the AUX ONE to IPOD, The video will now work. Just remember for some reason when the ipod cable is hooked up its impossible to set your own background atleast from what I have been experiencing. Hope this helps. Dave
