Hello Muddah LAGH LAGH LAGH Hello Faddah LAGH LAGH LAGH Get this game called LAGH LAGH LAGH Camp Granada LAGH LAGH LAGH It's a game that LAGH LAGH LAGH should be gotten LAGH LAGH LAGH Milton Bradley's game about a camp that's rotten! BLEURGH
AHHH! '60's TV was great. These kinds of things just aren't done anymore. I remember this commercial and the song...we sang it in the back seat of the station wagon until our parents made us stop. My oldest brother Danny was fresh back from the war and we sang it to him, he laughed 'til he cried.
@susanmroper, Your comment was lovely.Like a little peephole in to a normal american family,,,,,Sadly now gone i fear,,,
We grew up here in england with the viet nam war on our tv screens nightly,My younger brother thought it was a film,,,,,, Oh not again, Ive seen this, he would say, he was only 6 or 7 :)
This commercial was way ahead of its time. It would even be way too "out there" for today. It doesn't come off as fake or forced like every other commercial there is or ever was. It doesn't promise to make you beautiful, or rich, or popular. Just Allan Sherman talking to a bunch of kids about a really cool board game. Gotta love it.
The game was marketed by Milton Bradley in late 1964; this ad probably came from a 1965 "SHENANIGANS" kinescope, as Milton Bradley sponsored and "packaged" that game show for ABC's Saturday morning schedule at the time}
Wow, how perceptive of you! Obviously any man who takes the trouble to sing to children or play board games with them MUST be some kind of sick pedophiliac, huh?
Here's another perceptive observation: Takes one to know one!
I never knew there was a board game for Camp Granada!! That comedy song really stretched its potential didn't it?? I always loved it. And what ever became of Leonard Skinnard?
I clearly remember when this song came out, but I have ZERO recollection of this board game or the commercial. I'm guessing it wasn't heavily marketed by MB. Anyone else here remember this commercial?
I was thinking that same thing. Everybody remembers the song, it was hugely popular. But I don't remember the game at all. That's a great commercial and if I had seen it I'm sure I would have been pestering my parents to BUY ME THAT GAME!!! :-)
