  • Moving! my favorite series! i cried too when isaw ruth

  • 4:52 He bored her to death...

  • I was really disappointed to not see 1 single robot in that whole montage.

2085 will surely have robots; it's the reason I get up every day.

  • soooo mean ending.... but great

  • I do like this ending, especially Maya growing up and getting married (not sure what happened to Willa?). I might be wrong, but it looked like Claire died blind - aren't her eyes all misted?

  • Best ending to a series ever. I put this up there with The Wire and Deadwood as the greatest shows.

  • I've been watching this show for the past 6 months and I've just watched this scene.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who totally lost it and cried during the entire 6 mins, has there ever been a more emotional or better end to a show than that? Amazing

  • que llorera!! Y que buen final!,acorde con toda la serie, Con su protagonista LA MUERTE en todas sus faces

  • The most beautiful tv of all time.

  • Watched it with my girlfriend, cried all the long, my virility is no more.

  • 0:57. Michael C. Hall acting all casual over a dead body. Some things never change.

  • This scene has been powerful to two types of viewers: 1. Those who watched the show and know the characters. 2. Those who never watched it and do not know the characters.

It's so powerful, because it reminds us we are all headed there, along with everyone we love. Life is temporary, and one of the dates on the calander is the anniversary of YOUR death.

I write this a day after the death of Christopher Hitchens, a brilliant and interesting man who was always "there" as a public figure.

  • Yes, probably the best finale I have ever seen.

  • melodramatic schlock

  • nothing on television will ever be this perfect again.

  • @janedoe4221 breaking bad

  • This ending would make a teenager feel his mortality. Which was the whole point of the show. Bravo, Alan Ball!

  • i just finished this final episode. i can not stop crying. it was so beautiful.

  • The only problem I have with this final scene is that the show basically stated that death can come unexpected at any moment (even to Nate) but somehow every other member of the Fisher family lives to a VERY old age (Claire is almost 100). Some should have died younger

  • @b09111 the father and Nate died young.

  • @b09111 I think that the point with Claire's death, which is after a long, full life, in her own home instead of some hospital, with the final image she sees being a picture she took of a man she loves, is to show us how she, the one who left the funeral home, the one who dared getting out of there, is rewarded by a longer life and a better death. Sort of a "go east, young woman!" type message.

  • This is the best finale ever.

  • well said!!!

  • compilation of heart attacks?

  • Very heartbreaking.

  • i juat finished the series and had to watch this again, I can't believe I teared up again!

  • i cry my fucken eyes out everytime

  • This makes me wanna cry

  • Best six minutes in television. Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • this remains the only tv show or movie to ever make me cry

  • wow...just saw this for the first time on HBO on demand. Incredible ending to a fine series

  • did anyone notice how similar lauren ambrose look like ruth fisher at her wedding?? the way she turned, her smile, made me think it was ruth at first!!

and when david died, notice that he had found another partner? but ultimately, he always missed keith. aww

  • Nice Toyota Prius commercial.. ;)

  • I disagree with 1 person saying that this is the best series of all time but I do think it was a very good one. Started watching during the haitus of Dexter's last Season online and I must say that Michael C Hall is an excellent actor, as far as the series finale it WAS probably the best i've seen. Answers all of your questions of what happens to all of the characters all the way up until the end and i liked that. Never felt tempted to watch the same 6minutes of a tv show before until this! LOL

  • I'm not sure I've ever cried so much in my entire life.

  • @maliagregory The same, ball my eyes out every time.

  • Nice ending, but I got this from Robot chicken

  • Brilliant....always moves me to tears....Alan Ball is a true genius!

  • no matter what we do in life, doesnt matter if we're therapists, artists, or funeral directors, on way or another we wall end up, Six Feet Under...

  • i loved this show when it was on

  • I recently rewatched the final season because I missed it. it's been a few years since ive seen it. just like the first time i saw this final episode, i cried so hard i couldn't breathe. this show was ART. beautiful. alan ball is a genius and an artist. nothing could ever top this show, or the ending ball created. simply a masterpiece. i miss the fishers.

  • Fantastic ending ....cry like a girl thinking of my Dad

  • Yes, I have ordered and watched the entire series. The series was so moving and the finale had me in tears.

  • what's Brenda doing as she's about to die? looks like shes jerking off!

  • @Whiteoyster She's being literally bored to death!

  • @Whiteoyster lmao I know!

  • @schneke1 me too!

  • bawling. every. time.

  • There have been some brilliant programmes over the last 20 years or so.

None more sublime than Alan Ball's Six Feet Under.

I am convinced that there will never be a finer first series or indeed a more satisfying climax than this masterpiece.

The Familia episode is equally as good.

    Long live The Fishers

  • ouch!

  • This show changed my life. I cannot express how much I miss it.

  • i have just started to crying again after i saw this.

  • OOOK, this still makes me cry. Check.

  • It's funny I've never seen this show before, I clicked on this just out of curiousity. But I have to say I now want to see the rest of this series just to see the whole show from the beginning!

  • Never in the history of televison has there ever been an ending like this. It still makes me cry!!!!

  • why can't i stop watching this? oh right, because it's amazing.

  • Billy finally talked Brenda to death LOL I miss this show so much! Allan Ball is a genius!

  • Watching this again reminds me that I still need to pick up the remaining seasons on DVD that I haven't picked up yet. I /need/ to hear Alan's commentary on these final six minutes, in particular.

  • Actually, I never watched the show when it aired the first time, oddly enough I found myself in a hotel room because a travel delay and happened to catch part of the marathon they were running the day of the series finale, and catched the final episode and it was almost like I fell under a spell. I came back home and rented out the whole 5 seasons!

  • Best series finale EVER! Closure!

  • CONGRATULATIONS I FEEL LIKE CRAP NOW...

  • the only thing that makes this less depressing is the fact it suggest an after life multiple times during this

  • Seinfeld was the best show in history, my butt!

  • Re-watched for the first time and, wow...... lost it as much as I did during the viewing of final episode...

  • breathtaking

  • i'm sobbing

  • Sencillamente brillante, vaya mezcla de sentimientos tengo ahora que se ha terminado. Uno de los mejores finales que he visto, infinitamente humano, vaya obra de arte...

  • when david sees keith, i can't. hysterics.

  • Great TV show and an amazing ending, i just watched the finale and had to come here and comment on a great show.

  • In the future, nobody will get nuked by crazy Jihadis.

  • I would have thought the brakes on the Toyota Prius would fail and she would smash into a wall.

  • Awesome ending to an awesome show . . .

  • Why did it have to end :(

  • Been watching again, I had to sneak a peak at the finale. OMG, I am back there SPEECHLESS and filled with EMOTION!

  • Why the brotha gotta get shot?

  • I get cold chills every time!

  • yea autumn i just did the same thing (two week span), the joys of unemployment is right, ha. And this was legit the best show i have ever seen.. I cried like a baby when i watched the last couple of episodes.. I really got into the characters so it was actually very hard to watch, even though it was beautifully done... Absolutely the best i have ever seen..

  • And yeah... I still cry when I watch this!

  • I was late getting into this series, so over the summer I watched every episode in a 2 week time span (the joys of unemployment). It was phenomenal... I can't believe I hadn't seen it before. I think this is the best series finale of any tv show I've ever watched. I literally cried for 20 minutes after this scene. No TV show or movie has ever done that to me!

  • I still cry every time I watch this. I've never seen a better ending to a series. So creative, yet so sad. Loved the show. Too bad it had to end.

  • @Evaztlb At least it ended properly, though. I didn't feel as if any of the show was rushed or skipped. This finale gave perfect closure to what will be remembered as an incredible series.

  • Did anyone else notice that Keith got his own security company? The armored car he was in said Charles on the side and the rear bumper.

  • the best ending ever! truly the best...can't find a show equally as good, never will

  • I can't watch this or listen to this song without shedding a tear.

  • This has to be one of the finest moments in the history of television programming. It's amazing how Ball managed to encapsulate everything the Fishers had gone through in 5 seasons into 6 minutes. After watching this, I never knew a simple TV show could move me so much. There's something oddly cathartic about this ending.

  • @LoveisintheStars Great comment.

  • I cry every time i see this part the song is so sad

  • I cry every time I watch this. I loved this series, and this ending is like an emotional pressure release valve to me.

  • hahahaha Dexter married Doakes! LOL.....but all jokes aside, great vid

  • I never watched this. I just heard this song and wanted to know the name of it. Was it a good programme? Worth buying box sets?

  • @JeddFeld7 YES, very worth it. Undoubtedly the best television series ever. It does suck that you've now seen the ending before the rest of the show, but I would still recommend purchasing the complete series box set.

  • @jmarie698 Thank you for the reply. I didn't actually watch the video, as I didn't want to ruin it incase I ever watched it - but the song is very good. I will look into buying the box sets. Cheers.

  • Greatest ending ever... Not to mention the song...

  • Greatest ending ever...

  • Beautiful. Captavating. Perfect. Haunting. Best Series Finale of all time.

  • Poor Keith... : (

  • It feels good to know I am not the only one to break in tears whenever I see it. It´s amazing. The best finale ever. The best show ever.

  • One of the best tv shows ever!

    Perfect ending!

  • never get over the emotion of this...

  • Unbearable, no matters how many times I had seen it. It's just too much. The best tv show ever.

  • Alan Ball is genius..... I was a True Blood fan before ever watching a minute of Six Feet Under - just finished the series he'll have a hard time topping it.

  • ya know, ive seen this ending so many times. ive cried to it so many times, but i thought i could watch it here after it popped up crossreferenced with the song, i thought i could watch it and not break down. and here i am wiping my tears for the millionth time. perfect finale. perfect moments that hurt so bad because they are so real.

  • One of the greatest TV ever! Perfectly flawless show...

  • i told myself i wasn't going to cry

  • @PRIMITIVEPLUS01 I was told that this show was supposed to be really great. I spoiled it for myself. I really did. But I can imagine that this show is incredibly.

  • @SpectralViral That sucks. I was fortunate enough to watch the series when it originally aired on HBO. This was one of the best endings ever IMO.

  • amazing series and i really dont get into dramas, but damn is this a good show!

  • i got massive chills, loved this show

  • Never watched a minute of this show prior to seeing this video, but wow. I'm a 28-year old man and this made me tear up. Powerful stuff.

  • Excellent ending to one of the most amaziing shows of all time. Mind blowing!

  • It's comforting to know the world will still be in good order in 2085

  • El final perfecto para la serie perfecta: sencillamente brillante.

  • The most brilliant ending to a series ever.

  • Even though I consider myself conservative I really like David. I thought he was the most likable and nicest character in the series. I just thought this was a really honest show. HBO made some really good shows now I'm hooked with The Wire.

  • @emmthreejonny

I'm a conservative as well, that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy a tv program.

  • @BanuHaqim - True. I was just reminded how I was watching this show with my folks back then. It was very awkward.

  • beside Keith's death being rather impossible(they wear vest at all times) it was sad to see him go out like that

  • @KanameTousen Armor piercing rounds my friend.

  • @piss666off thing is he wasnt wearin a vest, not the fact he was shot and killed, just that he didn't have a vest, on

  • @KanameTousen

I agree. I was surprised that a security professional who was carrying large sums of money didn't have body armor on and didn't have a partner exiting the truck with him to keep him covered.

  • i cried when i first watched the finale, i was tearing up when claire was leaving, even. it also just made me cry again right now

  • I just remembered why I loved this show so much.

  • It's great, but here's what I don't get: in 2051, what are those clothes Billy and Brenda are wearing? Paper clothes? Also, why do they have gray, scraggly hair if it's 2051? And in 2080, why does Claire have a human nurse? Wouldn't it be a robot by then? Also, is the glare so bright from the window because the ozone layer has disappeared?

  • @chuckmall 1. theyre wearing pyjamas. 2. theyre old and the like long hair?? 3. thats just a plain silly question...4. its sunny

  • It's great, but here's what I don't get: in 2051, what are those clothes Billy and Brenda are wearing? Paper clothes? Also, why do they have gray, scraggly hair if it's 2051? • is it just me, or is the boy sitting next to brenda at Claire's wedding Andrew Hodge, Bree's son in desperate housewives?? 3:28, or just similar??

This was an incredible show, but unfortunately i delayed watching the final series for a few years.

The emotional impact of this episode was lost significantly, which almost irritates me that I couldn't reflect how deserving of emotion this show is. I would have been a mess had i watched it at the time of airing. It's yet to be rivalled

  • @kilroyrichard Hmmm, it does really look like him.

  • The most beautiful TV ever made. The final episode will change your life and make you weep uncontrollably. You have to watch the entire series to truly appreciate the final episode. I am a different person than I was before I watched that show. I now live more in the moment, love more deeply and truly appreciate those around me.

  • so do I

  • wow ... amazing

  • wow...

  • Best ending ever. I cried again...brilliant writing, acting and cinematography...

  • This is the best series finale I've ever seen. The way they showed everyone's deaths, as well as the music selected, fit perfectly with how the show ran for the five seasons. The way all the loose ends are perfectly tied up makes me cry every time!

  • really is the best series finale ever. I watched it over and over.

  • It's been ages since i've watched that show, and the finale still makes me tear up and sob a little.

    *sniffle*

  • Television Genius! Shear Magic! One of if not the best ending EVER to an Amazing series!!

  • BEST.SERIES.FINALE.EVER.

  • Simply perfection!

  • Very powerful and impressive finale, probably the best series ending ever.

Does anyone know where this desert road Claire is driving along is located ?

  • I've never even seen six feet under before and I just stumbled across this, and even I'm crying!

  • This ending has set a standard for all other endings to try and match. Absolutely brilliant.

  • I'm torn between this finale and Bob Newhart's finale as being the best ever. 6FU's theme was death, I found it fitting that the finale shared the main character's deaths, which was sad, but also "ideal deaths" - after a long life, surrounded by loved ones, and seeing their long-lost loves right before their death, except for Keith's.

Claire's cherished photos did me in. I loved the symbolism of the journey alone in the desert, with life happening along the way.

  • so powerful

  • so powerful

  • I cried so hard. Again

  • It's just unforgettable

  • I cried my eyes out the entire last episode. SFU was one of the greatest shows to ever be on television and this was one of the most moving endings I've ever seen. Gah, there I go again...

  • This kills me every time I watch it.

  • I don't even watched this and thought the ending was moving. so they all saw someone they loved right before they moved on?

  • @RobPishot Throughout the show, they are visited by the dead. Sometimes their past loved ones, sometimes just who ever died during that episode.

  • Billy bored Brenda to death.... :(

I always knew Billy would kill her.

  • @Johnokinawa lol

  • For those of us born in the 60s and 70s this is a very sombre clip.

  • ohh fuckk :/

  • forgot how good this ending was. amazing!

  • I was totaly freak out when I saw the final of 6FU. Wow!! The director sur gave all he had. Btw, One of the best tv serie I ever watch. 5*! Making history...

  • Awesome, most powerful ending ever

  • the most powerful ending of any series I have ever seen

  • Gave me goosebumps first time I saw the finale. Still does.

  • damn..

    i am crying LOL

i'm seen time & time again!

    luv this TV Show

    the best i've ever seen

  • on the 4:44 we can see fingering~~?

  • @teddyto123 i dont think so.

  • @teddyto123 We can rather see Parkinson, I guess...

  • I have never cryed during a TV series, but this like really moved me, I started to cry right when she started to cry and when I saw all of the characters die, and I'm 13 years old. The Best season finale Ever!! The Best Show Ever!!

  • To be honest, there are only two types of people in this world: people that have seen Six Feet Under, and people that haven't.

  • @zephyrvidar1 I'm glad to be in the group of those who have.......this was one helluva show-no words are out there to say how great it really is!!!
