Mike Byrne was inspired by this guy. It's only a matter of time before he gets even better. JC will always be JC though. The cold calm reserve of his playing, the posture, and the rhythmic pounding of those toms. You're a fucking machine Jimmy.
@f3nderstrat4 And Lars is a VERY overrated drummer, especially compared to Danny Carey, Neil Peart, and Nicholas Barker (not to be confused with Travis, blech!)
Jimmy Chamberlin is the man on drums. Haven't met him yet but wow. I don't think any drummer is better than any body else. Everybody makes their drumming their own and develops their own style. Why say "so and so is better" all drummers are good, as long as they are contributing to the music.
Not the best quality video to begin with. I do think that Jimmy in the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex murders any recent Pumpkins material. JCC rivals Gish through Mellon Collie, but JCC surpasses anything afterwards by far. I can honestly state that Jimmy taught me dynamic and technique just by listening to his recordings. Not too many drummers have that capability!
Sometimes I wonder why I seem to be good at using dynamics and technique when playing drums, then I remember that was from listening to Jimmy Chamberlin LOL
He's a world class drummer! I think that if Jimmy Chamberlin wouldn't be playing in a famous "rock/pop band" he would be up there with Dave Weckl and Terry Bozio to name a few. Obviously he's taking a lot of shit as he is way too underrated...
@motorjimizeppelin I wouldn't be so sure about that, actually. Look at Lars's drumming in his prime with Metallica--definitely an incredible drummer during the early 80's when they were slashing and thrashing away like wild lightning! In fact, the first three album are BEASTS and the drumming is remarkable. One cannot misrepresent Lars's slower drumming with the slower Metallica records. In fact, he's still quite incredible! especially to be his age and still lightning-fast.
Proper videos? That's my family dumbass, what's wrong with putting a video up of my family you fucking pussy ass retard! I bet you have zero talent...zero!
why does everyone feel the need to namedrop OTHER artists on someone's clips? does it make you feel important to think you know about artists someone else might not? why not post stuff about "so and so" on "so and so's" clips? you people are wack. lemme mention some names..... gandhi plays better flams. or have you ever seen old 80's footage of the elephant man playing triple paradiddles live in webley stadium blinfolded on fire?
YEAH! Exactly, When it said I had a new message on here I thought "I bet it's more whinging kids talking about who's the best drummer". So I agree. Everyone shut the fuck up and enjoy the solo and then go and do something else.
this guy still to THIS DAY gets drum lessons. almost everything this guy does was taught to him by charlie adams, who is probably my favorite drummer these days. if you guys want to argue about who the best drummer is, check him out to throw him into the debate.
It was from Wembley, England in 2000. This isn't filmed by me. It's from a dvd I seen of the show. Yeah, I know what you mean they are rare. I can probably count on one hand the number of Chamberlin solos I've heard. The best/most impressive stuff I seen him do was with the Complex when I seen them live. Crazy solos
do you know of any footage of other chamberlin drum solos? ive seen him do solos in long versions of gossamer, in particular on a dvd i saw of an orange peel show. but other than that, maybe some JCC solos?
yeah if u hav any more footage of a chamberlin solo or something cool that he played w/the complex, let me know. i have the dvd of the complex live @ the drum pad, and i must say that is one of the coolest musical things i've ever seen. i should try and put it up, but idk if they would take it down or not.
Jimmy's arms are about the size of my thighs its ridicolous. i met him at a pizza parlor before a show and my life was complete. =) next i just need to meet neil peart and i can die happy.
Oh awesome. Yeah, let's change this boring subject of who's better than who on drums. Anyone else met Jimmy? I met him at one of the Complex shows. He was great to talk to.
JOEY JORDISON SUCKSSSSSSSS his feet cant move that fast he uses special microphones called "triggers" that are used to trigger a track whenever he goes out of time or when he cant play that fast.
honestly though Jordison isn't a full metal drummer cause (I know you guys will bash me for saying this) if you listen closely to him in songs you can tell he isn't using the double bass constantly he is actually using a little bit of jazz but if you want to compare metal drummers I'd have to say Tim Yeung and Derek Roddy are your best bets
granted, joey jordison's still not a good drummer. but the purpose of a trigger is to make the bass sound clean. when you're going as fast as he does the bass drums get drowned out by other instruments so you use triggers to help distinguish the sound.
what a horrible comparison. jimmy is way better than joey will ever be. the double bass licks that joey does makes him sound better than he actually is.
Hmmmmm....He's the best drummer of 90's...Phil Selway comes close...
