Although the Stanley Hotel inspired the 1977 novel "The Shining" which was the basis for the 1980 movie, Stanley Kubrick wasn't permitted to film it there, so the movie was shot on a constructed soundstage at Elstree Studios in Borhamwood, England. The kitchens of the set however were designed on the Stanley's kitchens.
