I've done 1.42.168 with a 550, but I really lose time in the beginning of the first sector (after the straight line) and after the second chicane. How do you do not to lose grip after those corners when you have to reaccelerate? What kind of setup do you have for the suspension? Nice video thanks to a very smooth and clean way of driving. Keep improving mate!
I like the "slow in - fast out" approach and the smoothness of the throttle really helps on those two critical parts of this track. On the exit of the first chicane I like to have a little oversteer going on and on the second one I feel I'm picking up the throttle a bit later than other guys I saw going round Monza.
My suspension setup is pretty much standard, maybe with a little slow-speed damping tweaks, but nothing too complex.
It's a lot down to the setup, it surely helps to put the car where I want and not where "it" wants.
I've lost that setup, since I had to reinstall everything after some problems with windows, but I have a new one and I've been a little bit faster than this 1'41"646 when racing online.
how much of it comes down to the setup and car. i did a 1:45 in a lambo which i cant beat. is the 550 much quickerand do u use a certain setup. nice driving aswell.
I'd say about 50/50 between setup and car... a car that doesn't do what the driver wants is far more difficult to begin with. My PB with the Lambo is around high 1'42s, low 1'43s.
I think the F550 is a bit faster down the straights and yes, I use my own setup based on my driving style.
I have improved an awful lot by sticking to that concept of smoothness. This video is over a year old and I've been gaining lots and lots of experience by taking part in a league. 2 categories (GTR2's nGT and WTCC on RACE 07)... I'm still struggling to find myself with those little WTCC cars though, but it's good fun.
My biggest issue is setup for sector 1. I lose more time in that sector than any other. I fly through sectors 2 and 3, but that first chicane gets me bad.
i squized 1:43:973 out of monza with ferrari 550 :P i think i cant improve the time couse of my sucky steering wheel... my deadzone goes more to the right then to the left... but i am getting dfp soon!! everything will change :P
What kind of steering wheel you've got? It does affect lap times, I had a Formula Force GP and my laptimes weren't so good, then I bought a DFP and I've improved quite a lot.
I was pushing the car a little too hard, I know. I'm refining my driving style... it's less brutal, shall we say. :P
I haven't tried another flying lap 'round this track in a while, I'm too busy setting the car up for the championship that I'm in. Tight schedules, pre-qualifying, it's kinda hectic.
I think I can squeeze a low 40's, maybe high 39's now.
yeah that took some time :P i HAD formula vibration feedback piece of shit wheel... or something like that... the cheapest logi wheel. now i have DFP :D but i havent been on gtr2 since christmas!!!! i am of to play it now :D thx for reminding me of gtr2 :P
I had one of those as well before I bought my DFP. It's not the greatest wheel but it's still better than lots of other cheap-ass wheels out there. :P
true... but my wheel after 2 months started to work realy bad... to go straigh i had to turn left a little and it had like 170 degree becose if u turnet it more pc would not see it... i have a very slight issue with my dfp also. After 1 and a half month it started to make this horrbile noise when centering. its not the standart dfp sound... its just killing ur ears with cold blood... so i drive on 280 degree so it doesnt go so loud...
and i dont think i can squeze a time like that... low 42 its max i could ,last time i drove around monza in gtr. Sux T_T i need more practice. I loose the most time on parabolica... i dont know why but i find it to be the hardest corner on the circuit...
Try without aids on simulator mode.

@bassheadpl it's already on simulator mode, the only thing I had on was the auto-clutch because my previous wheel had no clutch pedal.

I am wondering how you can drive like that. Is it your setup or what? can you hand it to me?

I got a 1:40.798 in a qualifying session once at monza but that was down to a hell of a lot of slipstreaming.
Best laptimes are acheived if you don't attack the corners too hard.
One bit of advice i was taught and still stick to, is - - - "SLOW IS SMOOTH, SMOOTH IS FAST". Works for me.

My current best is in the Lambo... 1.43.112
But I am still tooling around with the setup. Lately I have been practicing with the NGT cars.. I only use monza as my practice track.
Kingonads 3 years ago
Monza used to be my practice track as well. I'm only driving ngts now because of the league I'm in.
Keep practicing! :-)
