  • I tried Moussaka at the Blue Sea Resort in Faliraki, Greece.

It's really delicious, especially with ingredients native to Greece or other parts of Eurasia.

  • I notice she says "Okay?" a lot. its so cute. XD

  • Thank you for your video. I love that Olive Oil dispenser, never seen anything like it before! Where did you get it from? I'm making this tonight for dinner!

  • @hunkhk lol indeed! xD

  • I see

  • Looks yummy!

  • It tastes better if you fry the eggplant and potatoes a little!

  • @alohablueyez This is a good tip. I always pan fry my eggplants and zucchini and especially the potatoes so they get a good brown caramelization. Yum! Also if you need to make a vegetarian version, I have substituted canned garbanzo beans for the ground beef and it was pretty good. Cheers.

  • yummy!

  • hey Eva it's really lovely that u live years in America but u still can cook like our Greek Greek grandmothers, same recipes, same taste!!! u rock Greek lady!! Love from Athens :D

  • I did not see how you added the eggs, did you stir them first or put them right in the cream?

  • This looks pretty good. I'm going to be trying moussaka later for the first time. :D

  • Hi. Enjoyed the video. Looks Great!

  • it is great recepie .i love it . i love to add shampignons in all of that.

  • Very good but there are a few things I would have done differently.

  • My wife made me this recipe for the 2nd time and I love it! Thank you for the recipe.

  • My mother fries the potatos and eggplants before putting the meat, instead of putting them in oven first. For the cream, She puts 2 cups of milk with 6 tablespoons of flour and usually omits the butter.

  • ha ha ha...i like the way u say life is not perfect....even then..great recipie..loved it..thanks!

  • she's so cute! typical granny :) thanx for recipe! I'll make Moussaka today :D

  • I'm adopting and adapting: 'Sometimes life gets a little bit lumpy'. Thanks so much, Eva! xxx

  • I really love your recipe! I tried it and it tastes amazing! I am Bulgarian and we make Moussaka too but we do not use cheese or eggplants. The difrence is that the patatos are cut in cubes, the meet is more and mixed with onions, garlic and tomato pasta( chopped into small peaces). We mix it all together at the end we put a mix on top from Yogurt, eggs some flour ,some herbs. Its mutch faster to cook and easier. And the taste, being diffrent ofcourse, is amazing.

Efharisto para poli! Hi from BG

  • Hi Eva yum yum. I love your dish and could truly eat the whole thing on my own haa haa. I am from a Jamaican background but have spent quite a while in Greece because of the food. Would you happen to have any dishes for stuffed vine leaves PLEASE

  • Hi Eva,

thank you for your great recipe its so easy to understand and follow, my partner loved it he said it was as good as his mums. I have cooked your recipe several times always a success.

I am Australian and he is Greek, loves his food, I am no cook but you have helped a great deal. Many thanks.

Do you have other recipes demonstrated ?

    Thank you again.

  • Wish we could print out the ingredients. She makes it looks so easy

  • Great recipe. It would be nice if you add a pic of the final product at the end of the video. :)

  • Great recipe. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you

  • This is amazing, I didn't know this dish had so many layers of preparation, now I know why it is incredible. Thank you for the easy to follow instructions...

  • is she greek?

  • your instructions are so simple! Thanks!(・◇・)ノ

  • nice tutorial im married to cypriot i need to learn greek food nice video i hope more video u make

  • I will try this. Will it taste much better if I fry all vegetables first?

  • I was in greece and had moussaka (as well as lamb) for the first time. No a lot of people in my spring break group liked Greek cuisine, but it was fantastic!

I've always been wanting to make moussaka for my family after the trip. Thank you! :D

  • I love eva. This woman is so greek i can smell mint and yogurt from the computer moniter :)

  • she knows what she is doing-very nicely explained. thank you!

  • 6:38 hallo!! :))

  • Man!!!!!!..where's the final product. I was waiting for it. It looks like it's a good recipe :( oh well..im gonna make it anyways..GOOD JOB :)

  • if someone want to get the original recipe for mousaka he/she can contact me on my channel and i will translate him the recipe from greek into english

  • Really annoys me when Americans call mince "Hamburger".

  • And calling aubergine 'eggplant'.

  • Eggplant is indeed their English name, as any dictionary will inform you. They are also known by their French name 'aubergine' in English as well as 'brinjals'. Interestingly, the Greeks have no native word for eggplant and call them by a corruption of their Italian name 'meledzane'.

  • @Fantic80 not all do-in fact really annoying when people generalize

  • Vre malaka! This is NOT authentic Moussaka. Tomato juice? Potatoes? Parmesan cheese??? It may taste OK, but not the real deal.

  • Comment removed

  • I am going to smile while I make this. Thank you.

  • Strangely l as well don't fry the eggplants and potato before, l do put them in the oven. This "secret" makes the dish lighter!!!

  • Thank you! this looks great I will make it later!! very well explained! Thank you again!!

  • oops.. I left and "E" out ... tast = taste

  • 1st I'd like to THANK YOU for the great recipe, I took my time to ck other videos and cooked them but I have found your recipe does tast like the real thing. I have shared this wonderful food with my friends and they have all loved me for it. I hope you will put a video for olive bread...

  • oooh! i'v been wanting to make this!!! she makes it look so easy..! i gotta try it =)

  • i really liked this healthier version of moussaka without frying the eggplant slices, it s much healthier and it makes sense and it s an intelligent decision not to burn the oil

  • ure so lovely..i really like how u explain and do ur recipies .... im coming back for more .....

congrats and best regards from california!!!

  • She is from Greece not Brazil....Jeez

Just see her name,I am from Greece and I know!I also know that I love this food.!

  • @kalamariwtissa do you speak ellinika?

  • I love parmezan cheese....×10 Haha she is cute!

  • it is amazing but she is almost done it! not so properly, for the best visit Greece

  • My mom made this dish though she had to use beef since we live in the US and Lamb isn't cheap or available in the US. We found lamb at Sam's and the lamb was a pretty expensive import from New Zealand.

  • Oh that's no problem - how was it?

  • @peachblush8199 lol,why doesnt people in your area make their own business around lamps as well? it wouldnt be that hard :/

  • its looking great. i know ppl make different variations. i always use nutmeg in the cream, i make the cream thicker too and add parmesan in it. also, i always add cumin in the mince sauce, it really gives the red sauce more flavour! my giagia used2 make this with my dad. they would prepare the potatoes, eggplants and mince the day be4, then store it in the fridge.. then spend hours on the cream the next day! lol its a lot of hard wrk bt tastes soooo good :D !

  • Can I just omit meat if i want a vegetarian one? thanks

  • Just replace the meat with mushrooms.I have made it that way before and is pretty good.

  • could i reduce the meat and add mushrooms like half and half right!!!??

what about half mushrooms half tofu???

  • Hi there, I love your accent and your clear instructions.

However this is meant to be authentic but you used ground BEEF?? When in Greece and in Greek restaurants it's always ground lamb Ive had. ? Ive never heard of beef being used before.

  • Actually, there are many different variations of moussaka. Yes, it is often made with lamb, but many do make it with ground beef. Some people choose to omit the bottom layer of potato, others will use zucchini instead of the eggplant.

  • Gosh Azura was that aimed at me? How rude... i was only asking a question. Your assumption about no husband or kids is totally wrong too.

  • No husband or kids??? LOL..this is a bizarre page. How does that calculate in to opinonated food comments? I hope your not suggesting a womans worth is simply her reproductive skills..twould be a pity in this day and time.

  • Thanks for clarifying! Keep up the vids! :)

  • Goodness Azura you got even ruder. No I dont cook slob, I dont know what itis. Ive never eaten instant oatmeal either, I dont understand your rant at all. I have nt drilled anyone. You are very abusive and Im frankly stunned., WOW.

You really need some kind of anger management... goooooozzfrabbaaaaa.

  • Who said Greeks do not use meat?? I love how other people assume what other cultures are about.

This is an amazing dish. Keep them coming ThursdayForDinner. I love all of them!!!!

  • Nobody say Greeks do not use meat.

  • @Katy

hi,i am half greek, born in Cyclades(Aegean islands).my mother and relatives used to cook this dish with beef..i guess it depends on which region of greece you 've had moussaka..i think it's very tasty, both ways, isn't?!!I miss greek food..=((...

  • thank you so much for the recipe. It's looking very good. We'll try to make it tonight.

  • Eva- Thanks so much for all of your videos. I've learned so much from watching them. You remind me so much of my yiayia.
