Can anyone help me on cod5 when i invite any of my friends to a party it never ever works i tried going back to main menu and trying again but recently it aint been working 1 month or go it was working fine but now it dont work only when i invite them to game it works never the party why? and how can i fix it?
if you don't have Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio device, try to disable your Creative sound card or any PCI sound card and only keep the integrated sound card (realtek HD for example).
and now go to Control Panel --> Sounds and Audio Devices, under speaker settings, choose Advanced , then click on performance, move the Hardware acceleration meter to the second option (decrease it) "Basic Acceleration"

i have windows xp and my pc specs are a inteldualcore e8500 3.16 ghz and my grafical card is a nvidia 9600gt i have update my directx and drivers but nothing helps =\ is there a way to get rid of this?
i have same prob too and from what i have found it is the sound card but cant seem to find the solution i have installed from very same disk to my laptop with no probs but desktop will not run due to the error message. so it is a major f.... up by activision once again. i am begining to think they suck at making games
You need a 24 bit sound card with 7.1 surround sound. I just bought one myself and it works now. Only thing is mine cost 90$ :( the cheapest was one on ebay for 20$

Nah some dude on steam wrote on the forums that he was getting a error but he told us he messes with a lot of seeting. Try a fresh install I don't know much on these things.

It appears that this problem is caused by Sound Cards, so there is a fix for it, it worked for me so I hope it'll help you :
1. go to My Computer
2. View System Info
3. Hardware
4. Device Manager
5. select Sound, Video, Game Controllers
6. DISABLE Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio device

The disk could be scratched or your video card might not be able to handle cod5

Try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it and if that's not the case it's probably the disk. So a return might work.
