well i only have an 80GB hard drive, so i made the windows OS 20 GB. However I plan to upgrade to a 500 GB drive, at which point i will make the windows partition 100GB.
the overheating problem i had too turns out its just a symptom of your fan dying and not being able to spin fast enough to keep the proccessor cool and also rember that windows is natively an intel/amd system and mac was primerialy a powerpc system the require different nessecities processing power being one of them the Mac os is easir on the intel chip because its basically not as process hogging as windows, and be ready to replace your fan when it starts grinding, i just did mine last week
Yeah I'm an idiot, I just loaded BootCamp and found an option to remove the current Windows partition. I don't have the beta but Microsoft is still offering registration keys to run it. Time to sift thru the ol' PirateBay!
I already have XP partitioned and running on my MacBook (with BootCamp) and am wondering if I can install Windows 7 over the current XP operating system without having to reformat my whole laptop? If so how is this done?
Yea you can as long as your MacBook has leopard. If it does, go to Applications>Utilities and open Bootcamp Assistant. That'll help you partition your hard drive for XP and then it'll tell you to insert the disk. Then you just follow XP's setup. After XP is finished installing, insert the Leopard disk 1 into your Macbook and install Bootcamp, restart, your done!
Well Leopard is the name for Mac OS X 10.5, which is Mac OS X Leopard. The previous versino, 10.4, was dubbed as Mac OS X Tiger. That version does not come with Bootcamp. That's why you need Leopard.
i hate the system controls and i have adobe cs4 so far and it doesnt run on an os. i use my pc more than a macbook. the macbook is required at our school and other pcs arent allowed. i kno that sux. btw, if i change the os settings to microsoft xp professional, are the controls the same? i just need to use it for taking notes and stuff
no the controls are like they would be on a regular PC. CS4 is pretty much the same on a PC, the only difference is you have to use command instead of control... which really isn't that big of a deal.
i have it on my late 2006 macbook too works perfect exept for the audio can someone help me fix

does the laptop overheat like usual on bootcamp?
hows the cpu usage and battery life? (compared to xp or something)
lbkiml 2 years ago
idk what you mean by 'like usual'. i've run 3 different OS's using boot camp and i've never had an issue with over heating.
I haven't really used it too much running on the battery, and i've never really looked at cpu usage.

i just kept reading everyones response to how bootcamp leads to overheating (around the upper left area) when running windows
some where its so hot where its untouchable
so i was just wondering if you knew any thing if win7 still has this problem
lbkiml 2 years ago
hmm.. thats strange. I never had the problem of over heating running both windows xp sp3 and windows 7.
matt452 2 years ago
wow quick response haha
well yea.. the overheating was one of the main reasons for me to stray away from bootcamp and just go with a VM
also how big is the partition you used on windows and is there a noticeable difference in speed on the mac os side?

have you already downloaded the beta? if not, its too late because microsoft isn't letting anyone else download it.
If you have, just put the disk in your macbook while running XP.
