Alright time to clear things up. Older Jeeps like cherokees and wranglers could have a NP231 commandtrac for part time 4wd when needed or NP242 selectrac which had partime and full time but you could also do 2wd. Cherokees and grands were available with 2wd only, yes there are jeeps w/o 4wd. The SRT8 Jeep comes with an ondemand 4wd system that is specially designed for the SRT8. The limited version of these (not SRT8) has all time 4wd and the QDII option gives you front and rear elsd diffs.

Switch to 2wd, reset mpg, drive the same mile and record mpg after 1 mile

MPGs = easy air in, easy burn, easy airflow out. Just like your lungs dude. Good induction, tune Mass Flow, change out fuel filter regularly, lots o air in the tires, good exhaust (easy air out) = extra MPG's

ummm no AWD is fast as shit off the line. It's funny because the Jeep is faster than all the SRT-8 vehicles to 60 mph, the Challenger, Charger and 300 C. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 is AWD too and it's faster than the Scuderia and GT2 which are both RWD. They also handle quite a bit better.

traction my friend, put a slick on a RWD jeep vs a AWD with stock tires and the slick will win

its traction thats holding it back, one less axle means alot less powertrain losses which means more power gets put down on the track but you just cant boil the tires off of it so AWD has its advantage there and only there it will barely spin unlike a RWD

RWD would be faster but is traction limited hence the AWD, but if you had traction it would win because there is much less drivetrain loss

get a diablosport , mopar intake , kooks headers , and cut out the 100lb muffler mid truck . if oyu know someone who tunes on a dyno, and can use the diablo , youll get a bout 50+ wheel HP and lbft. just tryin to help , and if you get exhaust , get the corsa , or B&B . the magnaflow is just mufflers,pipes arent better than stock( why on ebay they dont show it to you )...

you have 2 resonators in the rear of the truck , and a huge muffler under the truck literally in the middle /passenger side floor. cut that out , and put in some magnaflow mufflers, and theres your magnaflow exhaust for 1/3 the $ , leave the resonators on , makes a mellower sound . less drone. the headers is where the power is though , very noticable torque gain. but stock diablo programs , or ones online suck , get a real tune . on a dyno

You can however change the drive shaft, something that most people do if they install a turbo/supercharger. They re-bore, usually change the Merc AMG Trani and alter to RWD it makes for a little better handeling.
