You said semi-colon and you meant colon :P. Thanks for this little tutorial. Though I mainly found out my router page is full of jargon and not noob-friendly at all. The port forwarding was called port mapping under 'NAT', and it asked you to put in external and internal ports and external and internal IP addresses, totally threw me off lol.

@minecraft5525 Well, because I love being a pedantic git (but a thorough one) I checked and I'm afraid it is a colon you're meant to use and is the one he types in the video. A semi-colon look like ; actually, while a colon is : (this is just in case you are unaware).

I don't quite get what you mean, but if your computer is thinking the thing you downloaded is a file, not an executable, you should be able to either open the files properties and change it's type to .exe, or download it with a web browser other than Internet Explorer.

For anyone who is having a problem downloading the minecraft server software

You need to put .exe when saving at the end of the minecraft server so

It will say MinecraftServer just type .exe at the end and it will open correctly

Hey Ant I need help. When you type in 192.168.1.1 or something like that you go to netgear. When i type in my IPv4 Default Gateway (different than yours of course) it takes me to a site called Thomson Gateway. I don't know what to do after that! It doesnt have that Port forwarding stuff. I started up my server and portfowarded my router to port 25565.

I started the minecraft server and the files generated and all that good stuff.

Now, I went to IPchicken, copied the my external IP address, and pasted it into the minecraft multiplayer bar, followed by :25565 ,and....I keep getting the Connection refused:connect error, do you know what is wrong?
