12 people didn't encounter a T-Rex that nearly killed them, then didn't see it again for a day or so. Then the T-Rex didn't come back and save them when they were cornered by Velociraptors.
In some sense this doesn't even remind me of dinosaurs or Jurassic Park, because it has an epicness beyond labels. I think it's the most epic soundtrack of all time.
Good job!!! The last one I tried had poor sound quality, so I tried yours. Good job; I can hear it and it's good quality and sound! Keep up the good work.

@Orteil42 A few concepts seen in Avatar may have been preexisting, whether they actually have any connection to the development of the film or not (remember that Avatar was written in 1994!) but the majority are not. @jamsey700 Why does defending Avatar make me a noob? Yeah, I know I have probably been trolled more than a few times by the haters, but, whatever. I'm not going to just stand aside and let it get trashed.
They dont bother worrying about setting up the characters or storylines becasue they know they need to keep the A.D.D generations attention. After all, that is the generation that are the majority of movie goers today, so if they dont like a movie, they will tell their friends that it sucked and then people wont go to it. Well, thats my view on the problem with movies today. I dont know if thats the actual problem or not, but to me it is.
@petracryo ...plot is an empty shell. It bothers me how people seem just OK with that, and would be perfectly willing to just cut to explosions, car chases and machine gun fire (or maybe dinosaurs, or floating mountains, or dogfights in outer space?) 5 minutes into the film with absolutely no underlying substance. ADD generation indeed. I may be part of it age-wise, but I certainly don't align with it in any way.
@torukmakto4 Good to hear there are still people like you and me that dont fit the discription of this generation. For me, I consider myself right between the end of the last generation and the beginning of this one. So if I get to pick, I definately want to be considered part of the last generation. I think technically I would be considered part of this generation because of my age as well, but I sure as hell dont feel like I should be part of it.
So back to my original point, that is why movies today have been lacking in quality. The director, producers, ect. are aware that the current generation has short attention spans and dont have the patience to sit through scenes of not much action while the storyline and characters develop. So they just throw a bunch of good graphic scenes and a bunch of cool special effects to keep their attention, out of fear that they wont like the movie if there are too many so called "boring" scenes.
But all that talking and not much action scenes at the beginning allow you to understand how the dinosaurs were created, and you are introduced to important characters and you are able to find out about their personalities. Movies are much better when they are able to get you emotionally invested into the characters where you actually care about what happens to them. That is why titanic worked, because people became emotionally invested in jack, and thats why they actaully cared when he died.
@petracryo Yes, I agree with that as well. You can add Avatar to that list. Quite a few have complained about it "starting too slow" or "using too much exposition" or somesuch, when comparatively it cuts to the chase well enough. It's truly sad when people justify complaining about a director's style in this regard (which they did in the case of Avatar) over the fact that he actually sets up his plots properly (also Aliens, Titanic). Without the requisite background, the rest of the...
to sit there and let a movie set up storyline wise and character wise. What I mean is that those so called "boring" parts in movies really do serve an important purpose, because most of them allow you to understand the story and get to know the characters better. I mean, heres an example: jurassic park. It takes a while for them to actually get to the part where they go on the tour and the dinosaurs break free, and until then there is just a lot of talking and not much going on. (countinued)
@petracryo Yeah, creativity is nearly dead in this country. Most films released today do not attract my attention in the slightest. Good thing that we still have the Canadian citizen James Cameron kicking cinematic ass to make up for that.
@torukmakto4 The problem with movies today is that they rely way too much on graphics and special effects instead of worrying about a good storyline or creating good characters. I mean, a movie can have the best graphics I have ever seen, but if the story and characters are shit, I will still hate it. The movie 2012 is the best example of great graphics, but an absolutely horrendous storyline and terrible characters.
@torukmakto4 Here's where I think the problem lies. You can tell me if you agree or not, its not going to make me mad or hurt my feelings if you dont agree, so here it goes. The problem I think has to do with the current generation. I know, Im not a fan of this current generation but heres the problem. They are the A.D.D. generation. They always need to have something thats attention grabbing, something that will keep their eyes glued to the screen. They dont have the patience (countined)
Has anybody else noticed how all the good movies, songs, and tv shows were made before this current generation (2005-present). The 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and the early 00's were great. Now we have this current generation that cant think of anything original and remakes everything from he last 40 years. This current generation is a complete and udder failure.
@petracryo think of the next big thing then genius. Its been done. We've made a movie about almost everything we've discovered and lots we havent... Avatar is the most creative movie ever made, and it was done in the generation. The Jurassic park trilogy was insane, and nobodies ever going to re-make a dinosaur movie because when we see dinosaurs we think jurassic park, and we always will. Just like lots of other movies
@petracryo Yeah, like I said, those are themes. Combined, they are the definition of a genre that has existed since the dawn of storytelling, and that is for good reason. Those themes are deeply effective. Conformance with a genre does not make a work unoriginal, and even if it did, Dances with Wolves is equally, if not more, guilty of said offense than Avatar. You have confused classical influence with unoriginality.
@Orteil42 You actually believe that supposed "unoriginality" deal? Wakeup call: It's bullshit. That's what the anti-popular backlashers were ranting about before the film was even released, and there isn't a speck of truth in it. It has happened time and time again: hype and success breeds contempt. Time to think for yourself and do a little research before you speak.
@CARMAGEDON28 AGREED! JP was the milestone of the '90s. Avatar is the milestone of the '00s. Pay no attention to those two trolls' hate responses. You know, looking back at the game changers of days gone by, one thing is very clear: every single work of indisputable quality, incredible ambition and significant influence does not receive the respect it deserves until its time has passed and we can appreciate what it truly is and what it has done for us in retrospect.
@CARMAGEDON28 Star Wars changed sci-fi in the '70s. It was bashed as a spectacle film of little substance. In the '90s, Jurassic Park changed all of cinema. It was bashed as a spectacle film of little substance. In 2009, Avatar took the art of filmmaking to a whole new level in many ways, effects included, but storytelling being more significant. For that, It was bashed as a spectacle film of little substance. See the pattern?

to sit there and let a movie set up storyline wise and character wise.

Creativity is dead in this country, and the current shitty generation killed it.

@petracryo I have to agree 100% with you on every bit of that.

@CARMAGEDON28 avatar? I think you mean dances with wolves in space.
petracryo 11 months ago
@petracryo Avatar is in reality not even close to DWW beyond a few themes.
torukmakto4 11 months ago
@torukmakto4 Dude, invasion of another peoples land? One of the invaders falls in love with the natives? Sounds pretty close to me.
petracryo 11 months ago
@petracryo Yeah, like I said, those are themes. Combined, they are the definition of a genre that has existed since the dawn of storytelling, and that is for good reason. Those themes are deeply effective. Conformance with a genre does not make a work unoriginal, and even if it did, Dances with Wolves is equally, if not more, guilty of said offense than Avatar. You have confused classical influence with unoriginality.

@CARMAGEDON28 Man. Any movie is more creative than Avatar. I can't remember seeing anything new or interesting in that movie. I'm serious.
Orteil42 11 months ago
