Yep...keep the big loadings off the roads and put them on rail as that what rail tracks were originally laid down for. This was a heavy load but my guess would be a minimum of 2000 tonnes but hard to say.Locos sounded a little like GEs!
51 wagons (?) but looking at some of the beefier log bunches, and considering the total likely weight of the contents of the ZM wagons, I'd say this train is keeping some 70 odd trucks off the main street of Te Puke. If the other five daily trains from Kawerau are doing the same, and taking into account the return journey of each truck, that's 840 trucks off the road every day.

The trains that run between Murupara and Kawerau are around 1500 tons so I guess this one would be around 2000?
