@joeirl Actually he only needed help from Bulma to go Super Saiyan 4, and GT was non canon so yeah.. He achieved the ssj and ssj2 levels by himself and even if he was the most downplayed character in dbz, he actually managed to surpass frieza,androids 17&18, cell and other strong antagonists all by himself. So he deserves the title of prince of all saiyans.

Majin Vegeta is another thing, he's as strong as ssj2 goku, a lot more stronger than ssj2 gohan.
@kenshinsan12 The reason why Gohan became so weak after the Cell saga was because he stopped training for 7 years, where as Goku was training the entire time in the heavens. Gohan would have been the strongest saiyan alive. And of course, Vegeta could turn SS2 after Majin, he already transformed by then, once you transform once, you can do it again. It's just I've never seen Vegeta turn SS2 before Majin, all i saw was SS1

But Mystic Gohan beats Vegeta to death, since he's a bit stronger than ssj3 goku.

I'm sure Goku could have gone ssj3 and finished the fight, but to what end?
You need to understand that Vegeta has been keeping up with Goku all this time even though Goku has been training in other world(which according to King Kai is several thousand times more effective than training in the real world). Sure he has gravity training to help him, but he's been working extremely harder than Goku and I think that fact is evident throughout the series.
Aye, Goku had the ability to turn SSJ3, but it wouldn't have won him the fight, he would have drained all the time he had left on earth. You need to realize that Goku was only able to maintain SSJ3 because of the extra durability of the spirit body he had, a durability which was matched by vegeta here through the majin curse.
If he was able to use the SS3 form in his fight with Majin Buu he could've used it when he fought Majin Vegeta as well...with one small difference,which is that he'd have beaten Majin Vegeta in no time and go back to base form immediately afterwards,whereas with Buu he had to make a lttle effort,even if he didn't use his full power.,and stay in SS3 form for quite a while.
A couple of minutes would've been enough to beat Majin Vegeta
@Aeroooo94 When he fights Kid Buu he's SSJ2 you can tell in some of the animations. The reason it was more pronounced here was because Vegeta had the extra energy from Babidi so they made him look buffer. The reason why he didn't look that different as an SSJ2 later is due to poor animation. In the manga you can tell.

@lman318 because, he said later on that he wasnt sure if his body could handle the pressure because he never used ssj 3 in the real world yet. when he did it vs majin buu he was simply hoping to save time and the huge spiritual pressure on goku's body from ascending to ssj3 was draining the bits of time he had left to spend on earth. Thats why he couldn't maintain a whole day in the world of the living. He wasn't holding back because he wasn't sure if he could survive the pressure of ssj3.
The fight between Goku and Vegeta in Ascended Saiyan form was great,but it could've been a little more dramatic if Goku had turned Super Saiyan 3 in a certain moment.
The right point would've been when Vegeta had Goku chained to a rock with energy rings and gave him a whole speech.
After releasing himself Goku could've said something like "I'm impressed...blah blah...but haven't been using my full power,I can ascend one more level"...and then turn SS3...Vegeta would simply give up.

Sure he has gravity training to help him, but he's been working extremely harder than Goku and I think that fact is evident throughout the series.

Aye, Goku had the ability to turn SSJ3, but it wouldn't have won him the fight, he would have drained all the time he had left on earth. You need to realize that Goku was only able to maintain SSJ3 because of the extra durability of the spirit body he had, a durability which was matched by vegeta here through the majin curse.

If he was able to use the SS3 form in his fight with Majin Buu he could've used it when he fought Majin Vegeta as well...with one small difference,which is that he'd have beaten Majin Vegeta in no time and go back to base form immediately afterwards,whereas with Buu he had to make a lttle effort,even if he didn't use his full power.,and stay in SS3 form for quite a while.
A couple of minutes would've been enough to beat Majin Vegeta

@Aeroooo94 When he fights Kid Buu he's SSJ2 you can tell in some of the animations. The reason it was more pronounced here was because Vegeta had the extra energy from Babidi so they made him look buffer. The reason why he didn't look that different as an SSJ2 later is due to poor animation. In the manga you can tell.

@Gonboo It is cause of his hair and again you can see them getting spikier!!!Also he didn*t have any spare energy from Babidi he died!!!Nothing but dust stayed on his body!!!!It is just that when you reach a level you just don*t need extra energy to use it again.He went ssj2 in majin so that means he knows how to use ssj2.Also after the battle with buu/gohan and the vegetto++some other fights that were near death he might got a Zenkai boost.

@lman318 because, he said later on that he wasnt sure if his body could handle the pressure because he never used ssj 3 in the real world yet. when he did it vs majin buu he was simply hoping to save time and the huge spiritual pressure on goku's body from ascending to ssj3 was draining the bits of time he had left to spend on earth. Thats why he couldn't maintain a whole day in the world of the living. He wasn't holding back because he wasn't sure if he could survive the pressure of ssj3.

The fight between Goku and Vegeta in Ascended Saiyan form was great,but it could've been a little more dramatic if Goku had turned Super Saiyan 3 in a certain moment.
The right point would've been when Vegeta had Goku chained to a rock with energy rings and gave him a whole speech.
After releasing himself Goku could've said something like "I'm impressed...blah blah...but haven't been using my full power,I can ascend one more level"...and then turn SS3...Vegeta would simply give up.

On the other hand,Goku could get him KO in a couple of hits...and if Vegeta yelled and powered up,so could Goku. and after realising the huge gap between them Vegeta would probably give up trying to hit Goku...at least for a while.

@anxofarmesto the way i see it, Super Saiyan 3 is Goku's trump card. In addition, if Goku had gone Super Saiyan 3, Buu would have been revived a lot quicker. And don't forget, this is Goku were talking about. I'm sure the only reason he agreed to this fight is because he say no other way around it, it was either fight Vegeta or let him murder countless innocents. Goku is trying to defeat Vegeta, not destroy him.

Remember, Buu's revival was pending on the energy given off by Vegeta and Goku's fight, I think that his transformation would give off enough energy to complete the revival. It's all messed up,.because if after a little while fighting Vegeta,Goku decided to turn SS3 he'd simply beat him up.
The whole Majin Buu Saga is a little messed up,because Goku,Gotenks,Gohan and Vegitto could have killed Buu five or six times in his different forms before Goku did actually defeat him....it was way too long,way longer than the Saiyan Saga,Frieza Saga or the Androids-Cell saga.

as much as i would have loved to see it vegeta wasn't the major threat he didn't want to drain the amount of time he had left on earth he figured majin buu could have been defeated with the combine strength of the z warriors or mainly the saiyans. he thought it was unecessary and a major gamble. he could only sustain it for a limited amount of time & he had no idea what kind pressure it would put on his living body.
