NOW that the Republican Free Market House of Cards has crashed and burned. Now that our economy is about to tank out.
NOW McChange is For Regulation.
But a couple a months ago he said, "I don't think anyone who wants to increase the burden of government regulation and high taxes has any real understanding of economics," McCain said this spring, when he also declared "the fundamentals of our economy are good."
McCain is already quick to anger and if he has any deterioration in his brain, it will be very bad for him and all of us!!
"As an emergency physician, if I were taking care of a 72-year-old man with a history of melanoma who was having episodes of confusion I would be extremely concerned.
About 40-60% of patients with melanoma will have brain metastasis. Melanoma commonly metastasizes to the brain. After melanoma is detected in the brain, median survival is 3 months."
True, getting off oil would take awhile, but improving the fuel efficiency of cars could be done in a couple of years, as could improved improving public transportation, both of which would reduce our demand for oil, which would cause the price to drop.
We can also invest in renewable energies, which would further lower the demand for oil.
Investing in public transport and renewable energies would also have the beneficial side effect of creating new jobs.
Reducing the price is only one aspect - ending the massive transfer of wealth to foreign countries is another. And creating new jobs, with the susequent economic activity and the economic multipliers creating even more jobs. Obama wants us to think in a box and not think about the additional consequences of his so-called "plans."
Screw Drilling alltogether! Make new gasless automobiles! Let's face it, we don't need any more of these cheap scare tactics! This add sucks just like the owner of this channel! Vote Morons for G.Dubbya McCain 08!
popart, your emotional rant doesn't change the facts. They are not scare tactics - they are the truth. People do not drive gasless automobiles, and even if they existed to the degree they could be used to commute the same way as gasoline automobiles, people don't exactly have the cash to just dump their current cars overnight and buy new ones on a dime - you, and Obama, are out of touch with everyday Americans and reality.
Yep, Just the answer you would give! Yes, I know it isn't going to be fixed over night! Rome wasn't built in a day! I'm saying get started Now! The republicans are narrow minded thinkers and spend too much on their WARS! Notice I said their wars! Later!
Bush and Chenney are clapping McCain and Palin with Carl Robe approval, enough said. No more Republican larceny disguised as government. We don´t 4 more years of the same
McCain voted against off shore drilling when the bill was first addressed. now he supports it? wtf? and gas prices wont change for over 8 years after we start drilling off shore. about the same amount of time it would take to get rid of gasoline completely and switch to a cleaner fuel source. so how bout you conservatives open your eyes and see that more oil isnt the way to go
If it takes 8 years, then why don't we start now? >_> And the technologies to switch america completely off oil are going to take at least 20 years. How about you libs open your eyes and realize that switching completely away from oil isn't logical.
Well, the problem is that the US consumes 21 million barrels of oil a day. The most productive oil field in the world, the Shaybah, produces .5 million barrels a day. Even IF we started drilling tomorrow and IF it was the most productive oil site in the world and IF we kept it all in the US, it would still only reduce the price by 2.5% (and that's a lot of IFs).
jfrank, please deal in facts rather than emotion. Even if we dumped all gasoline cars overnight, which is a ridiculous notion, significant amounts of oil are needed to produce numerous other products - everything from asphault to incredients found in medicine pill capsules. And if we can produce more of that oil here to employ Americans and buy from Americans rather than sending it all overseas, we should do that. Stop thinking inside a box and realize the consequences of what you are saying.
"Republicans have been in power the last 8 years making the very rich richer and the rest of us poorer. McCain more of the same!!"
Speak for yourself. I went from employee to owning two businesses. If you think you had it bad under Bush, wait until your boss fires you when he has to choose between paying his taxes or keeping you on the payroll. Don't say you weren't warned.
Start up a business and then come back here and say you don't get taxed enough as is.
The same Muslims that were celebrating in the streets after the 9-11 attacks will be celebrating again when Obama is elected president. Obama bin Biden '08
We import 70% of our oil. Obama's plan is to cut oil consumption by 35% (based off pure hope) by 2030. So in 22 years, he doesn't even see us getting rid of enough oil to stop buying foreign oil. So Obama, by his own admission, has a huge problem with his energy plan. Don't even get me started that it is now unfunded due to Windfall Profits Tax going to $1,000 rebate bribes now.
So instead of telling you what you want to hear, McCain told you the real story on oil. Why limit options?

What Muslims? celebrating in what streets? lol
Al Quieda =/= all muslims
A cave in Afghanistan =/= a street
Anyways... Obama fails. He'll run us into the ground even more than McCain could possibly.

More total BS from the RNC.
More drilling is like giving more drugs to an addict - it won't solve the problem.
Its the classic Republican recipe - self-serving policies that put the COUNTRY LAST, with a sugar-coating of false patriotism for the gullible.

Because if we drill a whole bunch then it's like the last 8 years of failed leadership (and the war based on lies) just disappear.
