This game is awesome! I was watching the english dub ending because the english subtitles in the original japanese dub is not visible. OMFG! I don't like Jade's english voice though.
This great game would have been better if the following happened:
1. Van should have been dead after part II (make it so he sacrificed himself to save Sync or something).His personality was really dull and annoying, and it made the game feel redundant towards the end.
2. Incorporate Lorelei more! It would have been better if he was the final boss by trying to uphold Yulia's score in Part III.
3. More God-Generals screen time!. And Asch should have had a permanent spot in the game.
i think its luke inside aschs body. the sword is really the telling detail. its posistioned on his back like luke an its posistion for his left hand were asch is right handed. aschs story was always meant to be tragic. the anti hero turned good guy. luke is a tale of a boy who finds himself. asch will always be a part of luke.

If you ask me: much, much more masterful than a simple right or wrong answer situation. It's what makes this ending unique. It's why it's my favourite game ending of all time.

Luke's voice actor is Yuri Lowenthal who does the voice of Sasuke from Naruto, Suzaku from Code Geass, Simon from Gurren Lagann etc. I'm a fan of him for voicing Sasuke and will always be ^o^.

This ending wil and always shall be my favorite and in my opinion the BEST ending ever perfect video and music and u don't see that very often in games usually they screw up on one or the other
i know it sucks u in especially with the story that goes before it makes u want to play it over and over again (think im on playthrough 25-26 although first time playing it in abot half a year) the only other game that makes me want to play it agin and again is Ar Tonelico (the first one not the second) and i guess also Persona 4
its luke asch died before luke so i believe he gave him his fonons so that he could become whole again u have to watch some of sub events to fully understand the ending although i wish that when u beat the game the costume luke wore during the epilogue was unlocked and u could wear it during the game
Alright. I'll explain this clearly. The conclusion is, LUKE was the one who came back at the end. It was Asch's body but Luke's SOUL/Memories/Feelings --> he's the Luke that likes Tear, not Asch who likes Natalia. There's 2 evidence that it's absolutely Luke. 1) Luke's left handed, and at the end, the sword was carried towards his left. 2) Asch couldn't have fulfill Tear promise since it has nothing to do with him, so it's Luke who came back. I hope i made it clear. :D

yeah in the lyrics they mention being in a sunny spot only meant for one and then there being 2 in that spot. then becoming one. the lyrics hint a lot to asch and luke.
There is a lot of technical "fonon" science that gets mentioned in the game and during optional sidequests.
This Luke is more than likely a merger of both Asch and Luke...or, if you pay attention to dialogue in the beginning, it's Lorelei's completed soul. So, Luke in other words.
I love this game..I have never cried at a tales of: game (Come close..but not seriously shed tears) until this part..I honestly choked up and couldn't help it..so emotional this scene is, I love it along with the tales of: series, it proves that video games aren't just mindless forms of entertainment..TO series, especially this one show how great pieces of art games can be

I know that this "Luke" is probably Asch and Luke combined (though I like Brennan3775's idea- that this Luke is the real "Light of the Sacred Flame") but I really want it to be Luke....because Asch is an assface and Luke is way better than he is.
Yup, the hair cut was just a symbol to show his change. I like his new clothes towards the end though they look, for lack of a better term, pretty badass.
My theory is that huge flashy thing that Luke and Asch's corpse did in the ending, right before the credits was them merging together to form the one true Luke. That would explain the hair growth, the "I promised someone", and the change of attire.
I don't think this "Luke" is Asch or Luke, but rather the real "Light of the Sacred Flame" Luke. (I also think Lorelai might be inside of them, too.)

I highly doubt that. Plus, I almost don't want them to expand what they have. Every FMV that was redone in the anime wasn't as good as those in the game, and this scene is just too perfect to be ruined with more stuff added from the anime.
It's obvious Luke loves her too, but, like her, his feelings weren't said out loud. If you read his journal, it says that he wanted to tell Tear his feelings on the Albiore the night before they went to fight Van, but he couldn't do it.
ALRIGHT i will explain luke technically "died" at the end howevr asch gave him his fonons and so those merged with lukes to make him whole in other words they became one again if u want a more detailed explaination write me ill be more than happy to explain in detail as they do explain why this happened over the course of the game u just had to be thourough
Its luke there are several sub events that explain why its him however u do have to exit off the beaten track and work a little for them but its worth it to understand the ending fully
I have a question. If it was really 3 years that passed why does Anise look exactly the same. If it was 1 year Id buy that she didnt change much, but 3 years is a long time for the body of a 13 year old

She bursts into tears, goes to him... and Jade cracks a smile that it was Luke.

yeah in the lyrics they mention being in a sunny spot only meant for one and then there being 2 in that spot. then becoming one. the lyrics hint a lot to asch and luke.

There is a lot of technical "fonon" science that gets mentioned in the game and during optional sidequests.
This Luke is more than likely a merger of both Asch and Luke...or, if you pay attention to dialogue in the beginning, it's Lorelei's completed soul. So, Luke in other words.

I love this game..I have never cried at a tales of: game (Come close..but not seriously shed tears) until this part..I honestly choked up and couldn't help it..so emotional this scene is, I love it along with the tales of: series, it proves that video games aren't just mindless forms of entertainment..TO series, especially this one show how great pieces of art games can be

I know that this "Luke" is probably Asch and Luke combined (though I like Brennan3775's idea- that this Luke is the real "Light of the Sacred Flame") but I really want it to be Luke....because Asch is an assface and Luke is way better than he is.

My theory is that huge flashy thing that Luke and Asch's corpse did in the ending, right before the credits was them merging together to form the one true Luke. That would explain the hair growth, the "I promised someone", and the change of attire.
I don't think this "Luke" is Asch or Luke, but rather the real "Light of the Sacred Flame" Luke. (I also think Lorelai might be inside of them, too.)

I highly doubt that. Plus, I almost don't want them to expand what they have. Every FMV that was redone in the anime wasn't as good as those in the game, and this scene is just too perfect to be ruined with more stuff added from the anime.

It's obvious Luke loves her too, but, like her, his feelings weren't said out loud. If you read his journal, it says that he wanted to tell Tear his feelings on the Albiore the night before they went to fight Van, but he couldn't do it.

ALRIGHT i will explain luke technically "died" at the end howevr asch gave him his fonons and so those merged with lukes to make him whole in other words they became one again if u want a more detailed explaination write me ill be more than happy to explain in detail as they do explain why this happened over the course of the game u just had to be thourough
