This is so sad. :( The fault is really on the producers, Paula told them about this girl and how unstable she was and they didn't listen; see her expression at 3:30 it's obvious she's unhappy about it. I also think Simon was being sincere about the braces (hell, I had a lisp when I had mine on) and meant that she'd be much better once she got them off.
