What I find so funny is that, for all of the size anime eyes have and the close-ups manga is fond of, no one seems to get eyes right.

Seriously, look really closely at your own eyes in the mirror, and it almost looks like stain glass art. If there is any manga or anime that did that right, that would be my number one.

I would have to go with Near's eye design. The bags under L's eyes communicate weakness and distract from the intense blankness they share. Near's eyes have no distractions.

And regarding the realistic eyes...I don't know if that is possible to pull off in Anime or Manga, I might be wrong but looking at a Manga like Berserk or Vinland Saga, I really don't think the style allows for more. I know some US Comics that make really realistic eyes. ^^

@MrMehawk Thats great , though u must be informed that SS is a classic fighting manga/anime series kinda like Dragonball , I was talking about the relatively new anime (Lost Canvas) which kind of tells you how it all started. I prefer a lot more than the original though for many reasons (more mature I guess) and this is the "eye" series if u know what I mean hehe :P

@MrMehawk YES. DUDE. YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY WATCH SHIKI. I would call it my absolute favorite Japanimated series so far (though appearently the story is the exact same as Salem's Lot's. So yes, there is a high possibility that Shiki is a rip off of Salem's Lot. Haven't seen SL, so I can't confirm if Shiki is a rip off, but even if it is, well, it's a fucking good series. I highly recomend Shiki)

Nice list. Yeah i knew what was coming for number 1 haha. Great eyes for sure. Of course the eyes need to match the character design, as you obviously preferred L over Near in that one bit.

My current eye obsession would probably belong to Yuki Onna from the Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan series which also has a couple different color variations and suits her character well. :)
