@antizekezellers don't forget it was CBC who decided to dick around in the negotiations and let the deal lapse. If TSN hadn't stepped in who knows who would have bought it.
Now if you could get the c. 1993-94 video intro to go with this theme music, you'd have something really amazing. Unfortunately, there's no money in it.
the person who made this song demanded money for it...cbc was to fuckin cheap to dish it out to her. wanna blame anyone for fucking everything up its them.
AlbertaGamer I am with you!! The CBC is a joke. This was the ultimate theme, back in the good old days when Molson sponsored the show. I saw the theme on TSN last night, and I must say they did a good job. It felt like a hockey program, just like this used to be with the Molson theme.
This was the last game that featured this particular opening video, coupled with the original HNIC logo, and only version (in my humble opinion) of "The Hockey Theme" that's actually worth a damn -- after that, the HNIC aesthetic went completely downhill. To think, I was only 12 years old at that time. This video keeps part of my childhood nostalgia alive, and I thank you for that, theSameRetroWindsor!
This song is **NOT** going to die in my house. **I** am muting the TV at the start of every HNIC and playing this video on full blast instead. Then the TV will be allowed to speak again.
@AlbertaGamer , i know, doesnt the new theme make ya sick? all that tradition, gone, over a dollar. Soon, CBC will lose HNIC for good....over a dollar too, 2 more years worth of contract..is all... :(
@NovaBUSFan Still, I feel we should write to TSN/RDS to bring this particular version back as it was played from the early 1990s all the way to 2008; it would still perfectly suit even today.
Yeah eh, hockey is indeed #1 here. I know where I will be every Saturday afternoon and night... in front of my TV. ;) (Unless I actually go to a game, LOL)
Was Windsor CBC infamous for all of those static spots in the picture?

the should just randomly start their broadcast with this intro once in a while ;)

Hey all. at about 0:19, there's some sort of a high pitched sound, like a bird chirping.
does anyone else know what i'm talking about? What on earth is that, it's bothered me, quite literally, for about 20 years.
DandyKoufax 1 year ago
the hnic was like a magazine with summaries from all the games from one round or it was a programme with just one game broadcasted live?
hrebik 1 year ago
the new one destroys the old tune period.

this version is good as it actually sounds like a sports theme... the other versions are a bit too soft and sappy. this version has balls

Chris Cuthbert, come back to CBC.

@marshallsimon I remember Chris Cuthbert calling the stars-oilers series from 97-02. Best hockey I've ever seen and Cuthbert made it all the better.

This is the best version of the opening theme CBC ever came out with.
swcrowe 2 years ago 19
Agreed - this version is a classic!
I'm not a fan of the synthesized version that we had seen later on, nor am I a fan of the new HNIC theme.
