...right now i am working on the Tantive IV Diorama. it wont look exactly like it is in the movie cuz i like to put my own spin on the scene...making it movie accurate is boring to me...
Have you notice the majority of movies that has to do with end of the world, such as The Fifth Element, deep impact, 2012, and much more always have a black president. Now we have a Black President = Obama. The end of the world might happen verysoon!!
Obama is the antichrist!
When our Lord JESUSCHRIST returns, He (the antichrist/obama) will say that is an ALIEN INVASION
Repent and accept JESUSCHRIST as your Saviour and Lord , the WRATH OF GOD upon this stupid world is very near!!
@mattjew619 Those are Power of the Jedi Rebel Troops from 2001. Don't bother with them, though, there's a much better Rebel Fleet Trooper coming up in the Vintage Collection that should be in stores in a matter of weeks,.
do you think you could post some images (not video) without figures so I could print out flat backdrops of it for stopmotion? and any other starwars dioramas you are making, I plan to recreate the whole movie. btw your diorama is realy awesome!
have you tried using that snake apparatus with camera on the end of it, its the mini camera for looking under doors or cracks in foundations. could help you when filming "interior shots" without taking your diorama apart when filming
what is the deal with everyone having all these figures, BUILDING replica sets and NOT doing stopmotion films with them!?!?!? this is so infuriating!! i have been on youtube all day today looking for badass stop motion vids and all the ones i come across SUCK because they dont have enough figs or sets and stuff and then I come accross stuff like this and its just SHOWING people the shit??WTF!?!?! seriously wtf...
@andrewa714 This setup wasn't built to accommodate stop-motion; manipulating, posing, and moving figures and photographing them simply would not physically work with this diorama. Additionally, I and lots of others feel that good photography and screen accurate poses beat the hell out of ridiculously crappy ass stop-motion done by hacks with zero experience doing so.
@KBD3 Why is someone a hack if they have no experience doing stop motion? People gotta learn somewhere and somehow. Much harder doing a stop motion than just taking stills from a movie a recreating them with figures that you did not make or paint (yes you made the backdrops and they look awesome!).
@digitalintent I guess by hack I meant "not good" versus "good" -- you can have no experience and do great stop motion. My point is that I never set out to do stop motion at all -- just building the set took dozens of hours of my personal time -- every night for weeks. It would take a year to do stop motion in that environment that looked decent -- who has time for that?!
SHIT!! This is a great job you have done! Congratulations! This scenes are very important scenes because it was the first scenes on Star Wars back in 1977!
I was enjoying the vid and I thought this guy must be abit of a Star Wars fan - then the camera panned back to reveal his collections along the wall. wow!
awsome!this is some of the best figure shots i've ever seen and maybe you should make stop motion movies cause the detail in the background was awsome and the way you posed the figures you might be good for that sort of thing.tell me if you decide to make stop motion movies or not.
its because when C-3PO was being gold plated, (in the storyline, not in the movie production) there was no gold leg, so whoever was plating it had to make do with a chrome one.
Hahahaha!! I love the POTF rebel trooper at 0:43. He's all jacked up and sex-crazed. He's like the Barry Bonds of the Rebel Alliance. Thank god they don't make Star Wars action figures like that any more...
Hilarious that you noticed that! I just included him to round out the crew -- I put him way in the back but he ended up being kind of prominent. I guess he's the only one of those guards that is a steroid freak!
Sick....Sick.... ... Sick. Sweet, accurate choice of soundtrack, too (tho YT incorrectly tags it as the Imperial March -- wow, not even the right movie).
I think about 10 rebel troopers, and at least 12 stormtroopers of various incarnations -- I tried to use as many of the most recent ones that I could -- the brand new Luke and Han figures are actually in there. Then the astromechs (2), Darth Vader (one of many), the officer, and the Leia. So that's about 25 figures for these photos!
Hey happy birthday by the way. You are a f'ing MADMAN!! That is some incredibly epic handiwork. The hand size o.g. Star Wars action figure sound stage made from scratch! How many hours would you say you put into the corridor? Oh yeah, and I still say pound for pound you will not find a finer guitarist than KBD3
JOEL! Wow... Well, I stopped keeping track of the hours after the first week -- I could only do a few hours each evening because of well, you know, wife and two kids, work, and gigs. Seriously -- I can't say how many hours -- there's planning, buying materials, computer work, nitty gritty cutting and construction, painting, gluing, fine detailing -- then setting up the figures, taking pictures, creating the video -- and oh yeah, trolling eBay for cheap Rebel Troopers! Who the hell knows by now..
i'm a big starwars fan to and collecting a lot of action figures how much would you say that you have spend on everything, and how many action figures would you say you have?
Absolutely fantastic job!

Maybe this could be ambient lit with fibre optics or LEDs?
