  • what a GORGEOUS SOUND that instrument has; richer and deeper than the English Cittern; what is the age of this instrument? And what do you have it tuned to here?

  • Very nice work ***** . It is possible to have a tab of the first track please ? I like it many .

    J.C.

  • No tabs available, sorry. But you can work it out by ear!

  • these are cool i really liked that first one! i should learn some scottish guitar tunes!

  • i like this instrument. how is it related to other plucked early instruments (baroque lute and b. guitar)? is it a descendant of the orpharion?

    R.

  • It could be viewed as an 18th-century cittern. Some of the publications say 'for guittar or cetra' or sometimes cittra.

  • By the way, the clean-cut look works better!

  • As usual, very beautiful. Keep the videos coming please!

  • Lovely. First time I hear this particular instrument. Our group, The Strathspey & Reel Society of NH (USA), toured Scotland about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go. If I had, maybe I would have heard you in person.

  • Beautiful as usual Rob. Looks hot in Edinburgh too (nice haircut)!

  • love it ! great music, and playin! Thank you, and thank's also for the close up look at that instrument.

  • A very distinctive sound for this instrument. As always, a delight to hear hear you play. Your comment about the tuning & pitch is interesting as pitch was often as much as a tone lower than modern pitch (although there was no single standard). It sounds like your intuition has led to you finding this instrument's intended pitch. This instrument has quite an "easy" sound to it.

  • Your playing amazes me. Great tone, plenty of style and great ornamentation. Your Flowers of the Forest CD is a masterpiece. More video's please :)

  • This is very elegant , beautiful ornamentation and I like the way you do the upstrokes. It sounds like you are improvising too, great music.

  • Great Video Mr. MacKillop! Thanks for sharing the music and instrument with us!

By the way, You look great with shorter hair!
