If they wont use them which they will never use at all. then I might as well build my own longhorn like Os myself but its going to have a different name and theme and its going to somewhat look similar to longhorn but not completely. Its up to me to finish what Microsoft started with my own modification for my future os L-Core. a Linux base os.

I used Longhorn. . . Whoever said this is bloated trash, you are mistaken. . . Thing uses up 147mb of ram on idle, Windows Longhorn is based on XPs kernel, Windows Vista's kernel is based on server 2003, reason why it fails on ram usage as well as with CPU usage. . . Vista and Longhorn are 2 different OSes, any build under 4093 is Longhorn anything over that is Vista. . . Guys, do your homework. If this was to be released, Windows 7 would be a completely different monster.

Windows fucked up in this desition, either way they released Vista in '07 so why not finish Longhorn? Nooo, they had to rebuild it under server 2003, piece it toghether in 20 minutes, rename it Vista and well, fail at replacing XP

@ttMikee It is based on Windows XP's kernel. . . Doesn't mean it iwll run everything, it has a compatibility mode which does a good job at running XP apps but you'll find yourself, in many occassions having compatibility issues. . . I wouldn't reccomend Longhorn for a main OS, much less for a gaming PC (It has DX9 not DX10.1 nor 11)

If you still wish to go for it, get an untouched Windows Longhorn 4074 and apply the Longhorn '08 patch, it's a hell of a lot more stable than Reloaded. . .

This is awesome, I think it could probably run fast on my computer, plus at the least I don't know why they didn't keep the login screen stuff at the least because does it matter if it uses more cpu & video card when the computer isn't even booted yet?

Microsoft was forced to delayed the creation of the future Windows in order to focus to develop Windows XP Service Pack 2. Microsoft also further delay Vista in order to make it more secure then XP and trying to prevent the famous virus from attacking Vista.

Microsoft delayed Vista because of the viruses attack Windows XP and they needed to make it more secure. If Vista were to be released in 2003, Vista would work with the older programs. It would have been based on XP Professional. Windows XP was based on Windows 2000. The development of Vista was reset in 2005 because they lost sight on what is needed to be done.

In this video, Windows Vista should have been this if it were to be released in 2003. However, Microsoft was forced to delay the development of Vista in order to develop Windows XP SP2 because the famous famous viruses hit XP so hard. The development was reset and the Vista code was possibly based in Server 2003 or a new code. Windows Longhorn was based on XP Pro.
