+'pitch' is wrong term of music scale you r referring here. if u talking about bass,treble and pitch etc kishore has higher pitch than most of the male singers...u can say rahat do louder songs.
Rahat Sahab is possibly the greatest singer of the subcontinent during the last 10 years.Its a genuine tribute to Kishore Kumar only because he has sung in his own style.Even the video responses here are cool.Thanks to @farrukhali for the main video & @musickaustav for the video responses.Enjoying them all.

@tomyunggung Your point is well taken. Kishore is one of my favorite singers. However, Rahat's performance adds another layer/dimension of listening pleasure consisting of uncomplicated simplicity, playful delivery of linguistics, and refreshing rendering of songs. Not trying to take anything away from Kishore but to convey that Rahat's style has been a pleasant surprise for me.

Some songs, especially sung by sir Nusrat FAK, Mohd Rafi nd Kishor Kumar.. shd nt b attempted by nyone.. Rahat is great singer..but these guys wer simple superb.. no offence bt we r used to kishore (rather smeone wid "buland aawaz" singing this song) and Rahat FAK's voice does nt suit here..though he is a g8 singer otherwise..
Cant really understand all these negative and curse words comments on this. Listen to the composition delivered by Rahat saab carefully. Experience all those nuances, the voice modulation - He has made full (complete 100%) justice to the original - not a single tone or tune has been changed. There are and were far too many mimics of Kishore saab. This delivery is original because Rahat saab has not aped Kishoresaab's voice but has done it so beautifully. I respect both the great artists.
Rahat has done a wonderful job with a garnish of his own adaayeins. I for one am an ardent kishore fan but rahat too is a class of his own n I admire his talent.

Kishoreda's voice, style and expressions could effortlessly glide into the situation of any song and transport you in a different world. No singer ever came close to him

I am from Pakistan and I know that he is a very good singer but I will agree with the guy who is saying that this kind of songs doesn't suits him. He is an excellent singer but his style is more Ghazal, Qwali and high pitch songs. There is nothing to get angry about that. If Kishore would sing Nina Tag laynge, It would sound horrible. We all are children of the same mother India so lets be civil to each other and have some common sense. I think we are beyond being enemy. Come on people.

We hear different songs being remixed/remade in new albums,films.In TV shows etc. the performers sing songs originally sung by other singers. I am sure many a times we have really liked a different voice singing a song which is very much identified with its original singer. But for me, this has never happened with Kishore Kumar songs.When he sings a song, his voice connects to the heart in such a way, which no other singer singing the same song can.

Abhijeet, Adnan Sami, Hariharan, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Vinod Rathod ETC are all diffferent variety all in their own class - impossible to compare - you need to have an ear to enjoy the different voices these are the institutions within themselves - same goes for AshaJi and LataJi.

+'pitch' is wrong term of music scale you r referring here. if u talking about bass,treble and pitch etc kishore has higher pitch than most of the male singers...u can say rahat do louder songs.

Rahat Sahab is possibly the greatest singer of the subcontinent during the last 10 years.Its a genuine tribute to Kishore Kumar only because he has sung in his own style.Even the video responses here are cool.Thanks to @farrukhali for the main video & @musickaustav for the video responses.Enjoying them all.

However, Rahat's performance adds another layer/dimension of listening pleasure consisting of uncomplicated simplicity, playful delivery of linguistics, and refreshing rendering of songs. Not trying to take anything away from Kishore but to convey that Rahat's style has been a pleasant surprise for me.

ab aya oot pahar ke nche .... rahat has very strong singing in high and low nodes both so no excuse can save him for not justifing the song , a song is not about sa ni dha pa ma ga ga , its about expressing the meaning or words with true feel. kishore was and still is the best ... those who think he cant sing rahat songs ... no comments ,manna de thaught the same before singing with kishore in padosan . actualy its a shame for me to say anything about kishore and mentioning rahat .

Some songs, especially sung by sir Nusrat FAK, Mohd Rafi nd Kishor Kumar.. shd nt b attempted by nyone.. Rahat is great singer..but these guys wer simple superb.. no offence bt we r used to kishore (rather smeone wid "buland aawaz" singing this song) and Rahat FAK's voice does nt suit here..though he is a g8 singer otherwise..

Cant really understand all these negative and curse words comments on this. Listen to the composition delivered by Rahat saab carefully. Experience all those nuances, the voice modulation - He has made full (complete 100%) justice to the original - not a single tone or tune has been changed. There are and were far too many mimics of Kishore saab. This delivery is original because Rahat saab has not aped Kishoresaab's voice but has done it so beautifully. I respect both the great artists.

After 1969 Rafi saab had a comback with laila majnu ... Rishi kapoor starrrer, so where these imitator stands. Please do not compare. I do not have anything against Rahat personally. He is a good singer.

With all due respect to rahat saab>> he is great and perhaps greatest in his genre-sufi. But he is not a versatile singer, which Kishoreda was. Kishoreda's voice, style and expressions could effortlessly glide into the situation of any song and transport you in a different world. No singer ever came close to him

I am from Pakistan and I know that he is a very good singer but I will agree with the guy who is saying that this kind of songs doesn't suits him. He is an excellent singer but his style is more Ghazal, Qwali and high pitch songs. There is nothing to get angry about that. If Kishore would sing Nina Tag laynge, It would sound horrible. We all are children of the same mother India so lets be civil to each other and have some common sense. I think we are beyond being enemy. Come on people.

if he sends this as a demo tape to any studio or even a reality show contest, this will be rejected. sorry to disappoint the die hard fans of rahat. but he is limited to his high pitched qawalis and he excels in that style. his voice is not even matches the macho hero voice that is usually sought after by directors, but thanks to aggressive cross border sales strategy, rahat and asif get more chances. there are far superior singers who dont even get a chance for playback

Rahat is good on his own, sings well, I axknowledge his respect for Kishore Kumar, but, he's no match for Kishore. It's not about who sings better, but it's about personality. No one has been able to become another Kishore. & when Kishore is compared, he is a cut above even Nusrat Ji, not that Nusrat ji is any less of an icon, & world fame is not a measure of a person...there are many monkeys, cats & dogs too of world fame 7 following. So pls stop insulting people like Nusrat by citing "fame"

Kishore Kumar was a natural talent who had never received any training. U don't find any one who was his "shishya" or his student. So that is his uniqueness. @iggy7861 abe chutiya Iggy 786, bhookha sala bahin jaayega jahan khaana milega. we had singers like Rafi and kishore, maanaday Talat , Lata etc and we have now shaan, mahadevan, Udit , kumar saanu and sonu nigam and no pakistani can come even near to them, They are given chance for their sufi singing, but it will be short lived. You bet, after two three years you wont listen rahat anymore. By the way, who is nusrat, can you remind me of him with any song which is known to people.

The two songs are technically ok, but where's the soul?? Rahatsaab just managed to sing the first song, but made a complete mess of the second.
Don't know when there will be a singer who would put the soul into a song like Kishore Kumar could do :(

We hear different songs being remixed/remade in new albums,films.In TV shows etc. the performers sing songs originally sung by other singers. I am sure many a times we have really liked a different voice singing a song which is very much identified with its original singer. But for me, this has never happened with Kishore Kumar songs.When he sings a song, his voice connects to the heart in such a way, which no other singer singing the same song can.
