Excellent and unique style of playing this timeless classic; I’ve been playing this piece, since I first heard it, over forty years (yes that dates me). It took me several years before I realized the alternate tuning used by Dylan when he recorded the piece. My compliments on an excellent job.
Great effort!! Actually i was searching for study videos of hollis brown. I liked your style of playing very much. Well, i need your help.
After the stanza ' he prayed to the lord above please send you a friend' there is some music which you have played and which sounds really excellent. Can you please tell me the notes you play and also the style of playing . I think you hummer on a note. Also please tell the notes you play in the music before the last stanza and and at the end.
First you have to tune both E strings down to D. Play the Dmaj chord leaving the highest string open. Then you can play any of the open strings on the 3rd fret and it always sounds good. Everything I did was improvised and very simple.

Totally! I struggled with it for years and pretty much gave up, but then one day I tried again and it all just came together. So don't give up.
