ok so i'm not a singer but other so-called singer these days make the actual vocal performance most look really tortuous, in their facial expressions. like they are having a panic attack. one of the things ive always enjoyed about mariah is the fact that she'll push out even the most ridiculous notes with relative ease and minimum physical effort. i love that she makes singing look so easy and comfortable lol
omg now that i look in the head voice section it looks like i totally copied the first notes XDDD (in my head voice vid) but i swear i didn'tttttt did u see my tokyo dome 1998 vid btw?
@broadwaybaby2409 I know what you mean, although it's not squeaking lol, she is producing those notes from her throat and has absolute control over them they aren't unmusical screeches they are melodic, her whistle register is a phenomenon and it's part of her vocal range.
ouch..why haven't i ever seen this before? this is the best vocal range demonstration of her entire 5 octave. most of the other vids on this r repetitive but you chose different performances/ notes frm different eras. NICEE
@kelvinpyaeko Thank you very much :) I may redo this in the future in higher quality with more notes but YT took away my 15 mins+ video uploading option :(
@iiAmitx3 I don't know...Whitney never mixed so those upper belts (F5-G5) were very throat-y. Mariah had that strong upper chest/mixed voice, ands he resonating in the head a lot giving that bell quality to the notes.
@sentfromupabove ohh anyway she had amazing F#5's in that part when she was promoting, such as arsenio hall performance or Des O' Connor. so much power! that F5 was pretty awesome too lol
Guys, imagine Mariah's baby's range. Genes are normally passed on to become bigger and/or better than their parents' genes. So if Mariah has a 5 octave range, what if her baby has a 6 octave range????? NEW LEGEND ON THE WAY!!!
@mAnNyElLaTiNo33 Hahaha true and btw mariah probably had 6 octaves in her prime she never showed her highest note the G#7 here was effortless :P Her vocal coach claimed she went higher than the piano doing a C#8 (minimum)
@mAnNyElLaTiNo33 Her babies won't have a larger octave range unless they develop vocal nodules like she has, which is the only reason she can go into whistle register. Her babies will probably have crazy deep voices.
@mAnNyElLaTiNo33 Haha,it's not much like this.It mostly depends on technique and 'talent' for discoverig your vocal range and registers. It's not like this that someone has only 2 octaves and someone has over 4.You know, everyone has the same vocal chords. We can different type of voice, but everyone can learn how to use it in the same way :P But Mariah has possibly nodules on vocal chords, that's why she can hit extremely low and high notes. But I believe everyone is able to reach about 4 octaves.
Things to keep in mind: a) Mariah could've gone and has gone a couple notes lower and b) Mariah was dancing when she hit those G7's. Those G7's were effortless: imagine if she tried.
@BlackLightning20101 Mariah has gone lower in the studio so I know she can and her vocal coach claimed she went higher than the piano in the 90s so I really wouldnt be surprised if she had 6 octaves in her vocal prime. But this is her official live vocal range.
@Shazni1409 Because it shows that she can execute these notes in both registers unlike many people who skip notes and have incomplete vocal ranges. In her prime I believe she could have belted a C6 and her vocal coach says she went higher than the piano (C8+) so she could have easily have/had 6 octaves. Hope you subscribe :D
@sentfromupabove kk how come no1 has evidence of tht coz it wud be amazing 2 see and hear, but can she still go higher or lower than wot the video shows
@khmerAZNet The number of the note determines how high or low it is, the bigger the number (of the note) the higher the note e.g. a D7 is a very high note however a C3 is a low note. A note in the second octave like a B2 is a low note. An octave scales from a C to a B, B being the highest note in the particular octave e.g (low to high) C2 C#2 D2 Eb2 E2 F2 F#2 G2 G#2 A2 Bb2 B2. Hope that helped.
I am happy you gave importance also to the low register... usually people consider only the high notes, but I find her low voice so SEXY and beautiful, full of emotions :)
It`s so weird seeing videos from her past and present like this.. like one second she looks young and iconic, then the next she looks like an old diva with too much botox

khmerAZNet 1 year ago
@khmerAZNet The number of the note determines how high or low it is, the bigger the number (of the note) the higher the note e.g. a D7 is a very high note however a C3 is a low note. A note in the second octave like a B2 is a low note. An octave scales from a C to a B, B being the highest note in the particular octave e.g (low to high) C2 C#2 D2 Eb2 E2 F2 F#2 G2 G#2 A2 Bb2 B2.
