waianaeman- I have to agree with you. I don't agree with a coach being paid more than the Governor or UH president...hell he gets more than the US President (although for the crap he has done, he is way overpaid).
I sincerely scratch my head about over-paid athletes and entertainers, etc... You're also right... What a neat world this would be if the politicians had to reimburse taxpayers for un-kept promises, etc...
I know...but for professional athletes it's a little different as there are private organizations paying them. But with state college coaches, the state is paying them the crazy salary which is stupid.
BTW, I apologize again for my antics last week. I disrespected you and I am sorry for that. But out of curiosity, what CFL team did you play for? My uncle used to coach the Argonauts when Raghib Ismail was playing for them. Did you get to play with/against guys like Flutie or Moon?
I played in Calgary for only 2 years (75-77), when a pretty bad ankle injury made me re-think my career. The Rocket, Flutie and Moon were all way after me. I played with Willie Burden.
Sorry about my short fuse. You have no idea how much heat I took from friends about why I didn't respect the UH team this year. It's like, if you live in Waianae (or Hawaii for that matter) you HAVE to like UH. But I'm not going to beat an old horse...
I am the only one that sees this as so ridiculous that the State pay a person a million + to coach a "GAME". While many of our people live outdoors, because things are just so fucking expensive!!!
It boggles my mind that we have thousands of homeless people living on the beach, in parks, on the streets of Honolulu and outer islands are almost no different. Yet, the the pathetic State government can pay a football coach a million+. Where are your priorities???
norm chow got released?! why don't they still try to get him so that hawai'i doesn't lose any offensive steam?! AT LEAST as an offensive coordinator!!

Not possible...UCLA for example, has up to $400,000 available for an OC. There is no way UH can even come close to that salary range!
