  • this is absolutely brilliant. I cannot thank you enough. sub NOW

  • @MrCecilbag Thanks! If you like this you should check out the Map Tracks on my site guitarplayback(dot)com :-)

  • absolutely brilliant!!!

  • @stringmanipulator Thanks!

  • You are telling about "HOW TO USE" ... we use scale over the chords(music). So every chords used, should have beeeeen written, I think so. Thanks for the lesson.

  • @poprostudaniel Good suggestion. :-)

  • So many of us are so accustomed to the I, IV, V (or various minor or seventh substitutes) progression. What modes work with that. What modes WON'T work with that. Are there mode that will work if repositioned (like dropping the minor pentatonic 1.5 steps)?

  • @nilla003 The only mode that would really work would be the Ionian mode. However, quite often in blues, the I is replaced by a Dominant 7 chord which would mean that you should play the Mixolydian mode. The Dorian would also work because in blues, the rules are broken. I'll shoot a video on that topic soon. :-)

  • Excellent lesson!

Really, I think I'm gonna progress a lot this summer!

    Thanks so much.

  • This is really, really great. Tremendously helpful. thanks you!!!

  • Where have you been all my guitar life? Discussion of modes always left me feeling a little dazed. This gives my ear and my eye something to relate to. Thanks!

  • @TheJudplay Thanks so much! :-)

  • Hey! This is a revelation. No more getting bored and frustrated trying to work out something interesting to do with the major scale and its modes. Beets tedious repetition any day. Thanks GEZZER.

  • @IndridKoldt Glad you like it! A lot of these are available on guitarplaybackdotcom :-)

  • Man that was great. I think you should come with some pre-cut cardboard scales like that when I'm jamming so I can escape this endless pentatonic spiral I'm in ! ;-)

    Anyway,

    à bon entendeur Salut !

    Rick

PS : I'll make sure to check out your website !

  • @Wallimann oui maptrack sur les games mineures

  • This is very useful ! Isn't this actually the D minor scale starting from G ? And the C minor scale starting from F ?

  • @Me7aLfAn Yeah, you are right!

Modes are all related to each other which often brings a lot of confusion to players... :-/

The key is to remember that a scale by itself is nothing, it's the relation between the scale (mode) and chord that makes it a mode. :-)

  • Maybe i'm wrong but maybe can you show's pentatonic scales over it and what a mix of it can do ^^ . i know satriani using it often and much other people =)

  • @fenixx213 Yeah, mixing pentatonics and modes is common. Great observation!

I have a few lessons covering that topic on my channel just in case you missed them :-)

  • @Wallimann oki ty ^^

  • I just READ these and found the mode REALLY interesting!
