  • I knew there was a different girl in this group. I didn't know that they switched girls when i was younger i just thought they looked a little different. The replacement was good, she could carry a note and sing about betrayal. Sharron had soul. Touch a four leaf clover was my JAM.

  • i absolutely love this song...SiMPLY AMAZiNG !! :))

  • Beautiful......

  • This goes to show you how this industry can tear best of friends apart its all about egos and money.

  • I too saw the Unsung episode. Excellent group with absolutely beautiful music. I don't think they were underrated. I loved Sharon's voice, but the group keep finding missing pieces and moving forward. Absolutely one of the best R&B soul groups of all time in my opinion. Let's Get Closer, Circles, Am I Dreaming, When Love Calls. Wow, from one group. Excellent.

  • I just saw Unsung, the original group was the best. However, they failed to mention this song I'm glad you posted it. Another one that wasn't mentioned was the song "Silver Shadows", God I miss the 80's!

  • Just watched Atlantic Starr's UNSUNG and needed to hear more of these great Old School grooves.

  • Whose watching Unsung???

  • @kevinhagan17 Watched it today (recorded the episode). What a group! It's crazy how Barbara's accountant dude took her money! Another great episode! I LOVE that show!

  • I think that it is good that samples from movies or hip hop/ rap songs strike the curiosity of our young people and make them want to hear the original. It keeps the music alive. I'm 32-my brother is 50.I got this music from him. If it weren't for him exposing 70's & 80's music to me, I may have learned about this song from a sample. We should ENCOURAGE our young people to broaden their musical horizons- in era & genre....

  • I woke up at 5 a.m. and realized that I had to hear this.... I got it bad ya'll.....

  • Bow wow lmao

  • rainy say music

  • nate dogg lol

  • I had this song in my head all week..so romantic and sexy

  • Atlantic Starr will be featured on TV One's Unsung early 2012, i'm not sure the exact date, but keep watching for annoucements.

  • @The1baddman Good news! They deserve an episode on Unsung.

  • @The1baddman Jan. 16th!

  • This is TIMELESS stuff !

    ....A Jewel..no doubt!

  • This takes me back to middle school in San Jose, CA. :) This stuff was on the radio. i miss it.

  • Calvin Richardson, Raheem DeVaughn & Raphel Saaqid them the guys got soul in them for right now

  • three people aren't close

  • reconecho

Let me check you before one of these old heads do first. 70's music was mellow because at the time there was no rap. We didn't go around in our music calling women Bitches and Ho's such as music of today. There's a difference between sexual innuendo and just flat out saying it like your generation does. You better check your violent crime stats of the 70's and 80's to the violent crime of today. Add that to your college thesis. I'm also college educated who cares what you have!!

  • @ Oldskool1025 The 70's 80's and 90's music era was just as sexual and violent as "today's" music. sexualization of pop culture didn't come from "hip hop" although hip hop and rap makes it less obscure however 70's 80's and 90's music like "shake you down" "do it to me" were coded in sexual innuendos and more explicitly songs like "in between the sheets" put not only sex but having sex in the minds of the youth of yesterday thereby setting a trend for the youth of today.

  • @reconecho Of course you are right but the fall into downright blashemous and profane art disguised as prolific Black music was recognized by me in the early 80s (although I knew of older examples that were on the edge of depravity) It is not the same as it was back then. Stories used to be told in the lyrics of songs, but IMHO, it has evolved into simply a form of narcissistic expression. There is a big difference. It is just my opinion, as stated.

  • @2441883 You have a degree. Good. Then you know that in the past, lessons, stories, myths, and histories were passed down orally in town halls via speech, drama, and song. The written word has not always been a way for the common man to communicate. It seems to me that I can hear this in older music, but since the early 80s, more of it has been about killing people, mysogyny, and ejaculation. I am not trying to be offensive!

  • @2441883 your opinion is worth a thousand words.... these songs made me fantasize about romancing a woman not just sexing her.. i thought about falling in love forever...

  • JOE BUDDEN !!!!!

  • sampled by sleeeptalk

  • Any Dislike's to this song.. Im going to assume the thumbs down was clicked by accident!!!!

  • i never knew who sang this song till now

  • Is it bad if its the first time in my life i hear thi group?

  • this song defines the lp title...brilliance...

  • I've been looking for the original song that Nate Dogg and Warren G turned into the '90s hip-hop song "Nobody Does It Better." Good stuff!

  • It such ashamed black folks don’t seems to give recognition the extremely talented music artist in the past ….i mean not to knock other people, but Elvis is being implanted in our brains for generations because he being constantly mention. Yet artist like Atlantic starr, sos band , the bother Johnsons, isley brothers..etc

  • you know how long i was looking for this ;)

  • Someone very special usta sing this to me. He's baaaaaak and still singing.

  • I totally agree with you str8outtatexas and i'm a 45 year old full grown ass black man. THIS IS REAL MUSIC, YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW!

  • Get up in the morning and I take a bath Count my cash and Wash my ass and Think about the days when I was broke No joke Lighting up cigarate butts just to get a toke Starving marvin I need a meal Putting salt and pepper on a banana peel Use to put the s on skittles from 9 to 5 Do whatever I got to do to stay alive 30 cents away from a quater Going to the store for a forty of water Hungrier than jack Dreaming of a big mac Two all beef patties speacial sauce and all that

  • I miss these big bands...Atlantic Starr, Midnight Star, EWF, Barkays, Lakeside, and so many others......just the lyrical content alone would burn most of the artists of today....hail to the 70s & 80s.....

  • music like this came out i was young and it felt sooo dam good to be in love...i miss the 80's....al rich.....dothan alabama.....

  • WARREN G and his producers JACKED THIS WHOLE MELODY and made millions. One of the things I hate about the Rap "Producer".

  • @palmares77 people sample other artists all the time.. and if you're NOT in the "rap/hip hop world" then you will never understand the impact NATE DOGG, may he REST IN PEACE, had in OUR world when he sampled this particular song.. just saying ;)

  • it has a haunting feel to it, i love it though

  • da luniz closer than close

  • Damn, that melody is fantastic. It's LONGING, played out in a handful of notes.

  • Joe Budden sent me here

  • @opticsjbtv me too.

  • This is the essence of real music. The music nowadays are actually sampled from older classics like this. I am so sorry the real music genre is dead, Kenny P

  • Sampled in the song "NOBODY DOES IT BETTER" by Nate Dogg ...R.I.P.

  • love this song it reminds me of the one i let go :(

  • Brings back memories of my 8th grade class dance (1982). It was my first dance with a boy, and my good friend R. Wilson. :-)

  • @ced8668 Your my age!! I danced a slow dance on this song at my 8th grade class dance!! I was on cloud nine!! They jus dont make classic music like this anymore Music like this brings back special memories 4 me!!!

  • This song takes me back to a very important time in my life....it was so sweet....

  • My jam.

  • It's all over now folks. Black music used to be sooooodamn nice. This is GREAT music! The writing, vocal arrangements, the music, the lyrics, the delivery...the talent.

If you were not around in the 70's and early 80's, well you simply missed it. Please enjoy these classic tunew because now....Black music is DEAD> End of story.

  • what happened to that good ol music?!

  • I won't tell you how much I paid for this CD because I LOVE this song!!

  • I Love music like this.....I miss people my age would listen to more old school....instead of this bull crap out now!!!

  • This is my Jam!!!!!!!

  • People say Hip Hop doesn't influence behavior.... That's a lie! If can influence the way our youth dress. It can definitely influence the way of thinking. Look at the world today and see how violent it is. I grew during the 70's and i'm 47 yrs old. Our music was mellow and our era of youth were mellow. We romanced our women because of our music. The youth of today have disrespect for women and society. Why? Because music influences behavior. Our music did and we were mellow. Their music isn't.

  • NOW I CAN DIG IT......

  • @Oldskool1025

I'm French,I'm twenty Years old and I listen Funk since 10 Years now, I romance my girlfriend because of our music. Don't be so pessimistic ! I've Many Friends like me who keep the Funk alive ... with You ! ;)

  • Lol. You personify the redundant and ridiculous "old people" logic- I am 28 educated black male with a B.A in Political Science and finishing a Masters in Political Philosophy. Sorry to say but that type of analysis of today's youth is further from the truth. the 70's era was anything but "mellow" and the music reflected that. Old people tend to romanticize their youth as if that era was "normal" when measuring today's "normal" however nostalgia is a drug that allow us to alter ones past.

  • @reconecho Many of us are happy for your educational accomplisments. Unfortunately you are uneducated about music. It's about the actual music i.e. vocals, instruments, harmony, ORIGINALITY (Not Sampling from REAL Talent!) Someday you will mature and become a real man and see the light. No offencce youngster, God bless :)

  • i wanna cry for the people who will never know music that is this good :'{

  • my first slow dance was to this song...

  • Good song

and in the hip hop world

    R.I.P Nate Dogg

  • im so inlove with this song. I heard it a few times and i been trying to find out who sings it and i found out.....bonita bonita bonita!!!!!!thx

  • 80's was full of great music and great sound. One Way had a slow song that was very popular back in the early 80's. I do not remember it but it was the bomb. If you run across it please post it. Thanks!

  • @justsimplyart isn't that the truth though! wish we can have this soul music again... i want to go back the 80's and 90's when life was simple and fun. ;)

  • @justsimplyart I think the song you are thinking of is "Lady You Are" by One Way. That was & still is a great song.

  • Lord Have Mercy.....This Was The Slow Jam That As A Pre-Teen Had Me Fantasizing About Closeness & Passionate Love.....Ya'll Know What Im Talking Bout!! Lolol.........

Thanx ArchieGe For The Classic Post...........

  • Certified dopified on the smoooove love tip!

    thx for the post.

    Anthony Figgiani

  • Real Music****NICE****

  • with the exception of a few artist today, and i'm not talking about no fucking t-pain,drake,trey song ect.. this type of music is a lost art. this is considered soft or for ''gay ass nigga's'' according to the thugs of today. music went from love, having fun, dancing, celebrations, family functions ect.. to shoot outs, drive bye's,disrespecting adults, getting your dick sucked on stage, gang group sex with minors, ect.. this is why old schoolers talk bad & don't buy the shitty ass music of today.

  • @str8outtatexas1 At least your decent enough to call it music, but in reality this shit on the radio today is 100% pure WEAPONS GRADE BULLSHIT, simple as that, now Atlantic Starr, and groups in that era played music, real music.

  • @zande0001 -yeah i did'nt want too crush these clowns too bad. there's a few good one's like jaheim, raheem devaughn, and a few others, but that's it. hey boss i've heard so much dumb shit from youngsters regarding slow jams, it's pathetic. I hate too say this because i don't like to degrade or say bad things about people personally, but alot of these thugs in music and their fans are crack babies from the 80's & early 90's. my sister worked at a hospital for 20 years and said the same shit.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I totally agree with you. They just don't make music like this anymore. I sure miss the good old day, when you could sit out on the porch until 3 or 4 in the morning without being shot at. Yes we did have fights and arguments too but we would fight it out and the next day we were the best of friends again. We didn't have to kill each other to prove something. These young kids nowadays have no direction, no sense or brains.

  • @Ludwig1936 -very,very true brah.I don't even know you,but i love ya for keeping it real.all the things you said is a duplicate of my days growing up as a country boy from texas.

  • @str8outtatexas1 That says it all. I'm strictly old school and this is what you call real music and entertainment.

Something called soul music. I wonder how many remember what that is.

  • @str8outtatexas1 So what was the difference besides the 80's bands were snorting coke and getting blowjobs behind the scenes?

A few hundred thousand cellphone cams and people with internet access who blog about it?

The attitudes and antics you speak of have always been there, there's just way more accessability to these things due to modern technology that makes it seem more prevelant.

And music is whatever you make of it, whether you're painting a picture to it or doing a drive by,

  • @psychomajic666 -hey brah I'm not saying people were'nt doing drugs or having sex with groupies ect back then, my gripe comes from the type of shit they rap or sing about. the music today does not have the feeling, soul, compassion as did the music of the 60's through 90's. today it's all materialistic & beef with others which have lead to the death of some major rappers & artist. Brah it's not because i'm 44 or stuck in the past, I've seen & heard the transition from great to 80% garbage.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I feel u. Most of the shit past off as R&B today is just crap. I've found that you gotta go dig around for the good stuff, as everything on TV/radio is going to be a Rhianna or Justin Bieber.

I'm more of a J.Davey or Raheem Devaughn fan.

My main issue with much of today's modern music isn't the sexual content, rather the lack of originality or "soul" and feeling as you mentioned.

  • @psychomajic666 _I feel you brah. I'm a big Raheem Devaughn fan myself. That is what i call r&b. He's in that 20% that i mentioned above.

  • @str8outtatexas1 sooo true!

  • what makes music so nice is when u can understand each word an the cool relaxin beat behind an nice words not those u knw wht i mean music u an ur family can sit an listen without all those nasty words some of them ave.

  • DARLENE AND DEAN LOVE SONG

  • Listen radio Música para Mimos (Listen in Google)

  • I am a 30 year old woman. even though i am kind of young i feel fortunate to have been around when music was still music. i believe the generation after me lost out on so much just in music. REAL MUSIC took u places.

  • REAL MUSIC

  • Oh wow!! Take me back to HS!! LOL!!!

  • Real talk tho the music that these guys are coming out with today has no originality to it and most of it is sampled from groups of the 70's and 80's thus music is not truly allowed to grow with the times... so therefore, most of the music today is crap... I'm 35 and lucky enough to have experienced music of the 70's and 80's and beyond... the music today for the most part is a bunch of S.H.I.T and will never stand the test of time like this song and the like...

  • Okay, enough of the "music is crap today" comments. Let's just like this song for what it is - a classic.

  • @ejr1978

NOPE ! Sorry;but it HAS to be said : it IS crap (=music of today...) !!! Even though I seldom post that kind of comments; I can only agree with it, and reading such comments just makes one (like me...) aware that there are lots of others who think the same...

  • This Is Music!!! How far we've fallen in musicianship and lyrical content. I CAN'T STAND THE CRAP THEY PLAY ON THE RADIO TODAY. I feel so sorry for this generation. Technology is killing the soul and passion in music.

  • this is when the love of us, we , yall was strong, a time before, this time

  • love this song

  • love this song

  • Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!

  • @sweetnessnbk I keep tellling everyone that sister's don't slow drag to rap music they slow drag to the classical soul music, this is how couples first hooked up at the parties, slow drag, hook up, start going out, get married get pregnant, buy a house and have a family, it first starts from the first slow dance, ha, ha, lol, lol, but today's music, not, I'm 52 I know, I was there. There's no romance to rap music, Black Women are romantic's first, second and third.

  • Who is T-Pain and Trey Songs???

  • @sweetnessnbk ...You werent the only woman that get pregnant. Some a few times. Others committed adultary. Men cheated on their women and their women cheated on them...LOL

  • This song will sit with me forever. KBLX in Oakland , Ca played this on August 29, 1983 the day my adoption was final. I went to live with the most wonderful parents anyone could ask for. I wanna say about 630 pm because i remember the sun setting over the bay as we rolled down the late nimitz freeway. I am 28 now though every time i hear this i drift on back.

  • Remember when you could buy an LP and almost every song was the shit!! what went wrong??

  • Pure Nostalgic! I was born in 1985 in the same decade of years after this album came out! My mother and father (i.e. born in '52 and '58 respectively), had me growing up listening to "nothing" but this type of soul stirring music in the late 1980s-early 1990s, in the decade which I was growing up! Thanks you are AweSome!!!
