You seem worried about being "in a box" by trying to make sure it's "good enough"...but honestly, it's a great cover and good interpretation of the song...much better from a lot of those english is a first language. Most covers of the song seem fairly souless with the lyrics and chords just being strung for the sake of making music....but your cover did not seem that way. Thanks for sharing it. Hope your niece enjoyed it.

I'm not familiar with Victor Jara. Was it, perhaps, just the music that he wrote. Malvina Reynolds did write the words in '62 about a suburb outside of San Fransisco.

No, the original was made by malvina, the victor jara's one was only a version, a very good version (you can see it in wikipedia).

Thanx for the nice comment :-). I actually recorded it for my little niece (10 months) to make her discover music: When I played it front of her on the guitar, she had started boucing about !. I didn't know it was the theme of a TV show. I know this song from my father that used to listen to it when I was a kid. And I always loved it (the mmessage it carries also). Greetz. Ed
