  • can the alesis record with an electric drum set? or only guitars and mics?

  • @pillarockaHIM Do you know what? I'm not entirely sure, however, I'd imagine it should be possible, if you were to go out from the headphone jack to the guitar input I've used that method before to record a electric keyboard =]

  • @Webcam9000 ok cool thanks a bunch

  • does any one get insain static during play back or record ?

  • Thanks for the vid, I want to get this device after my midi keyboard and akg k240 headphones reach

  • can you use this for recording drums with 2 overhead mics into the audio interface and then through the usb cord into the mac? and will it work in garageband?

  • @alienman250 Yeah they should do, and they should work very similarly in Garageband. I might actually do a tutorial for the iO2 in Garageband soon...

  • @Webcam9000 please do, thanks

  • I plugged in my alesis and did everything you did but when i try to record with my mic, nothing shows up....can you help?

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this video, very clear and helpful. I want to buy Logic now, too expensive!

  • I´m using this on a Windows 7 pc, i have the asio drivers installed and aslong as im only playing sound from the pc trough the interface into speakers everythings fine, as soon as i activate the microphone however (both mic input and guitar line in), or open ableton i start getting a peeping noise, the sound quality and and latency are perfect, how do i stop the peeping?

  • if you use two tracks, the mic on the first and guitar on the second, would it record two seperate tracks?

  • @TRAILSTAR123 As long as you set up two separate tracks and made one one input and the other the other one yes =]

  • i have an Alesis iO2 Express, and i wanted to record vocals but my stereo is in the same room as my mic. I was wondering if there is a way to stop the speakers from playing at the moment of recording so it doesnt interfere with the person singing, yet the audio is still comes out of the headphones connect to the iO2

  • @captainmarc9 u can either turn down the volume of the stereo and turn it off, the headphones plug it to the audio interface to hear it while the stereo its off.

  • hi i need help as my comupter is not recognising the alesis io2 interface could you help me?? thanks

  • Hey there I just bought this and I am having trouble getting it to work with cool edit pro, do you think you could help? it only records in mono and I cant get it to sound as strong as it did when i used my power supply. Please help if you can, If i cant get any help this i will be out of a 100 bucks. Thanks for any help that you can offer.

  • Can you plug a electric guitar into an amp and then the amp into the io2 and then into the mac??

  • if i want to plug in a electric guitar, i shold select guitar or line option???? thanks!

  • Hello there. You don't know how to set it up into fruity loops (FL Studio) do you? I can't find any tut's at all =D

    Regards,

    Zigga

  • Hello I was just wondering if there is much delay or echo when recording directly into a DAW like ableton live 8. Much help would be appreciated as I looking to purchase this. (:

  • @Jesusphones999 There's pretty much no delay at all, I've had it sometimes where there is a noticeable delay between the live sound and the playback, but you just restart the software and the iO2 and I've found that things usually clear up nicely =]

  • @Webcam9000 Thanks Mate, I've decided to DEFINITELY get this. The two XLR inputs are perfect for double micing my amp :D

  • can i use this interface connecting my electric guitar and using it for practice with a software like guitar rig or ampli tube?

  • @crist01bal Yup, that works just fine =] Really handy actually =]

  • hey i was wondering if the alesis io2 will work with pro tools 8 because that is what i have and the io2 looks alot better than any m-audio interface for the same price cheers

  • @shaboobal1 I don't see any reason why it shouldn't =] Mine even works through Quicktime!

  • @Webcam9000 What if i hooked up my electric guitar through my wah-wah pedal into my amp then using the output on my amp to go into the Alesis into the computer using adobe audition? would that work?

  • Hello, I am trying to record thru an external midi device but cannot figure out how to get a sound at all! I changed the preference to "Built in Out-put". Does this Interphase allow you to connect an external midi controller to record and play on logic? any suggestion would help. thank you

  • @CabFareRemix Sorry this reply is so late, usually if you have a MIDI controller you can either set it up via the iO2 or if it has USB that way as well, you then obviously need an instrument sound for it and then if the sound won't come out of the built-in output, you might have to go through the iO2 I'm afraid =[

Sorry I can't be of more help =[

  • when connecting an electric guitar and switching the line on the mixer to 'guitar', is it exactly the same as a DI (direct injection) box do you know? or would i need to use a DI box before plugging the guitar into the mixer to get the right signal?

    Thanks

  • hey at about 2.18 you select input 1 when i go to do that a different menu pops up. what do i do?

  • @gwenslambgwen What options are you given?

  • @Webcam9000 hey its ok now. i played around with the settings and got it work. thanks for the reply.

  • hey man.. ya know thw way ya get a cd with that software on it.. i lost it.. any idea were id download it.. preferably free... :)

  • @fifielcoolio the software for the alesis io2

  • @fifielcoolio its ok i found it.. you should put this link in your vid as it has the vital software to use the io2 with cubase n shit!!

  • @fifielcoolio Or you might be able to find it on Stienbergs Website =]

  • @fifielcoolio Torrents... not that I use them or anything XD

  • hi ;-)))

first thnx for the clip...it helps me a lot.....but still....when i record.....suddenly there is a very loud zizzeling in the headphones......did you know what i make wrong???/

pc is leptop lenovo 610 windows 7...micro SE X1 please can you help me...

  • hi, thanks for the video... I would like to know if the Alesis io2 is able to record 1 guitar and 1 voice simultaneously and then to send this 2 inputs into 2 separated tracks into cubase.

    Thanks in advice!

  • Doesn't have a mic stand, yet has Logic Pro.

I stole my copy too. Nice tutorial man.

  • hey if i were to connect a acoustic guitar into the alesis...where should i plug it in and what should be the settings for garage band...please help!

  • @kylebuikema23 Depends if your guitar is electric acoustic or just plain acoustic, if it's electric, you can plug it into the guitar input via jack, if not you'll have to get a microphone and actually record it rather than DI

  • What about using an alesis io2 express for a midi keyboard? How does that work?

  • Can you plug a microphone into the guitar line input?

  • @hendie3rd If it's a jack connection then yes! =]

  • hallo

does these alesis audio interface can be connected to a keyboards/keyboard to audio interface.help me please i need to know.

    thanks

  • i have no idea whats going on with mine i cant record atall or hear anything true the mic or guitar input

  • @spudfurfy i learned that you have to have headphones or monitors plugged into the interface to get sound

  • hey, everything works but i cant see my levels and cant record, but i can hear myself in my headphones comin through the mic...any idea how to fix that?

  • @69KEDDY69 i have that same problem to dude dont know how to fix it

  • just wanna know the difference between the i02 and the i02 express.?

    please write back.

    thanks

  • @AndrewXD3 There isn't too much of a difference between the two, or not that I've noticed anyway, I think the Express may well be cheaper but lack the MIDI ports and Phono Ports on the back.

    Hope that helps =]

  • @01profit10 I do go Aye, not anymore though...

  • @01profit10 You do?... The Street? I secretly live in a box you see =D

  • hi just wonderin do u get any latency with the iO2. And also what mic are you usin there to record your guitar. cheers bud.

  • good cunt

  • thanks for the demo i'm thinking of buying this

  • Because my mac isn't that good, when im using logic and processing alot of sound, i get a 'system overload' error box coming up. If i were to buy this, would this be the primary source processing the sound therefore (as a good product) being able to cope with more data?... really need to know!

    cheers :)

  • @GeorgeCornes Essentially, Yes! This should help your problem =] and then you should be clear of any "System Overload"s =]

  • hey have any idea how to set one up in fl studio 9? please get back to me its killing me

  • @moloman001 > I AM ALSO TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT HAHA.

  • yeah, got a question; why don´t you live HERE, you little martin-spector-boy?? you could make my music sound ACCEPTABLE!!... cheers from argentina.

  • and also is there a way u can connect a electric guitar to the interface and then record like that instead of recording it threw a mic

  • wait how does this work with electric drum kits .. i have the roland td-9. nd im considering buying this interface...

  • just about to buy one of these online, but was slightly worried about setting it up wrong with logic. it looks easy now though after watching this. many thanks

  • @Slaytanic1986 You're Most Welcome =]

  • I use GarageBand and for some reason when I record there's not sound coming out. You know where the light lights up when MIDI data is going out? Mine doesn't, and the Recording Levels won't budge - they're turned all the way down so even if it did have info going outwards, it still wouldn't record anything. I feel like I've tried everything...help?

  • @wakeuptomusic I've personally never used this with Garage Band I'm afraid, and so can't really be all that much help, however, I do suggest you check your recording preferences to start with and check your audio out setting to see where the sound should be coming out from.

    I really hope this helps.

  • @vids4bigkids Have you changed the switch on your box that has "Digital" and Analogue"? Sometimes I find switching to digital for Electric Guitar works, I might actually do a follow up video explaining certain parts of the iO2 ...

  • hi!did u have any problems with this usb interface? TASCAM US-122MK2 or alesis is better??

  • @HEAVYJAZZROCK No, none, all seems to work fine for me =S Really Sorry

  • can I use this with FL Studio

  • @gatbearer576 Should be able to, but don't quote me on that =]

  • Can anyone help out? Im using cubase LE 4, on wind 7, with the Alesis io2, but Im having trouble sending out the sound, without using the headphones output. I tried to mimic what Webcam9000 did, but its just too different from one program to the other...

  • how would you compare this to the fast tracc by m-audio

  • Soooo gay this doesn't work with Windows 7. I raged sooo hard today, trying to get it to work with Nuendo 4. I don't think Alesis have even updated the driver once... sooo irritating.

  • can you record 2 guitars at the same time with this?

  • Nice Video! Can you tell me if this device is good as an audio interface for live concerts use? I'm interested in using it with Mainstage 2, with the loopback features and the other effects. So, can you assure me it will be fine to connect its line out to a guitar amplifier? thank you

  • how do i make this work with cubase? i have it set up but the latency is horrible..i play something n i hear it a second later...my firepod died on me so i just bought this thing real quck but its not working correctly

  • Hey, nice video. Very handy.

I'm still having a problem with Logic 8 where I cannot find the out put tab like you describe around 2:00.

I'm using and iMac with JBL Creature speakers from the line out. I've set the the iO2 as the input, but that's where I get stuck. Is it a Midi Setup thing?

Cheers mate, and keep up the tutorials, they're good!

  • No Problem Glad you liked it, and that it's helped!

So are you having trouble actually getting the audio to sound out of your speakers, or trouble with audio going into Logic?

The Pop-Up window, try clicking "Logic Pro" in the Menu Bar at the top, then it should be "Preferences -> Audio", Really Hope that helps!

  • @Webcam9000

Cheers for the fast reply mate. The sound going in is fine, I can see the wave forms when I play my midi keyboard and guitar, I just cannot get the audio to come through my line out.

However once I disconnect the Alesis usb the sound works again through the speakers. Confused. A lot. Sad face.

    Cheers mate

  • Right,

You need to do what I did in the video and set the Output device as "Built-in Output" OR if you can't find that option anywhere within Logic, go through the Alesis Box into your speakers, there should be a headphone port for a large jack, when Logic uses the Alesis box it sets that as the default out, if that doesn't work, I will search the darkest corners of the internet to find a solution!

And you are most Welcome :)

  • wrong program.

    what about cubase?

that program you'll get by the alesis i02.

    awnser.

  • Yeah, sorry, have mentioned somewhere that I WILL be doing a video identical to this with Cubase in the Very Near Future I promise!

  • Fantastic work mate! I'm thinking of buying this one and waitin for a pc review of yours as soon as possible. Thanks a lot my friend!
