I think that this effect is done using 2 films, one has an effect on it to only see bright lights and holds them and the other is just the rugular film of them performing it then the films are overlaid to get this
this can be easily done, even with a phone camera. the trick is removing all the dark parts of each frame and keeping the most bright parts (this can be done in aftereffects using extract keying) then blending frames over time(using time blend effect). then you will need to add it on top of the original video.
@ozaki94 That is because of the lamp he is using. When he holds it such that it shines about into the camera there are more reflections from the mirror in the lamp.
@Granjew mmm.. could be.. well, it would still be fucking nice if it was made with after effects.. of course it's much nicer that it's really made by lights.. respect for the people who worked on this!
@ozaki94 Well, I guess it _is_ made in after effects (or any other tool), but also the way I'm doing it (trying to detect which are lights) and not by simply painting the KUGA with a graphics program or so.
i think that its like acexprt said its both video and camera. the video camera beside the camera to get the motion of the people. the camera would be taking fast shutter continuously and one long exposer to get the back ground it would have to be all over laid. if you notice the people are all moving fast.
i know how to do a static "light-photo" but how was this video made? is it the edition of the video or can u capture the light with a videocamera as it is done with a reflex camera?
I found out how its done, tutorial is here: watch?v=8dkhlmrsh54&feature=related

guys. this is clearly NOT done in camera. look at 0:07 - 0:09
the line travels faster than the light!!

@TheGuyTakingPictures
i would say it's the reflection of the light on the corner

@TheGuyTakingPictures Look up bulb photography. This could be done on a camera.

@AlexBbyCakes
i know what bulb photography is, this is not it. theres no way to record/play the light live, you only get the final result

@TheGuyTakingPictures Thanks for finally putting this to rest for me! I've been wracking my brain to figure out how its done..

(According to their description on pipslab.org I was wrong -- the effect is done directly in the camera.)
Tutorial is now online: kdenlive.org/users/granjow/writing-light-graffiti-effect

No it's not you fucking retard. You take a camera and adjust it's shutter speed and you can do this.
iDamion 1 year ago
Yah you can do it with a SLR, but not as a Video.
If anyone knows how to do this let us know.
I know one way they might have done it. but it takes a hell of a lot of work...
I don't think it was done in the way i did it though. there must be a easy fast way that we just dont know about.
