Ahhh ! thanks for the ST & Data fix, great work here. I wonder what's happened to all the great up loaders of Star Trek episodes, like Morthsa Bosnian Trekker, Christian's for Christ etc? They're dropping like flies to the copyright / thought police here on youtube .... Is there anyone left to watch?? Youtube is nothing more than a BITCH to the guys with big bucks now, anyone remember how it all started? (we) made um, now they're fascists against us & freedom (personal opinion!)
@cashman156 Youtube used to be so much more light hearted. They are not so down to earth with their big heads now. TOO EVERYONE ON HERE - if the doctor tells me I am in fact going to die soon, i'll turn the comment adding to automatic instead of approval. But play nice or I'll come back and haunt you!
When I saw NEMESIS in theaters, everyone was sobbing over Data's death, and while we were slightly reassured when we saw B4, there was a huge collective gasp when B4 started to whistle Pop Goes The Weasel. A few people even yelled out, "Oh my God, DATA?!"
yes the bod in datas case is only a casing, if his program is intact, he is not lost. we are much the same i feel, our body is but a vessel which carries our immortal being. we will all know soon enough when our physicl end comes
You get so close and yet completely miss the mark. Like data our body can be killed and/or destroyed. Yet, if before our death, we can make a copy of our brain, then a new body can be created and our old brain written onto the new brain. There is no immortal part to us, but copies can be made and they would be us making us somewhat immortal.
Did you miss the point that he transferred all of his memory engrams into the other android? Soul or not, all that he was - was saved b4 he was destroyed. And if you missed the pun b4 was also the name of the transferee.
I'll take back what i said earlier "data can never return because he does not have a soul."
The correct response should be "Data was never lost, because he does not have a soul."
The ONLY thing that defines Data as an "individual" is his memory bank. If his memory was saved before he died, then logically, he was never lost in the first place!
Hence, as long as Data's memory bank exhists, he is immortal.
*The only thing that was lost, was his original android body!
Question still stands, will Star Trek use this to keep him in The Next Gen now? So for everyone who was saddened by this "loss". Are you sure he is really gone??
The whole Data to B4 transfer was a cop out on the part of Spiner, Logan, and Berman. They wanted to do something shocking and over the top, like when the Enterprise-D was wrecked in Generations, but they didn't have the guts to do it all the way.
You know Data IS NEVER coming back, not even as B4. Spiner is getting too old and that's one of the reasons they killed off Data. However, they didn't want Data to be completely dead, so they made up the memory transfer part.
Yeah, that's probably right. Still episodes like the last one in TNG show Data can age. Spiner was just tired of the role, like Ford was getting tired of playing DR. Indy Jones.
Well, Ford's 65 and Indiana Jones just found the Crystal Skull- maybe.........
Anyway, I'm glad they did this and saved Data's memory. I still think it was stupid the way they killed him- a phaser on overload could've done what he did, he should've died doing something only HE could do.
As added fun, I was trying to say William Riker (Bill) was in trouble with her for asking if Mr Data's memories had included farms. As though him and her had something kinky going at one time.
You know it may be true, but I have one question. What is a prototype? Most people would say that it is a beginning. Something to improve on. If this is true in the 24th Century, then why can a prototype sing? I think Data transferred his memories so he could destroy the Scimitar, and simply dressed up as B4, and disabled himself during the little questionnaire before the fight.
Data was singing that very song at the begining of that movie. He only new about the song folowing the download of Data's memories. It was a sign that data would return, b4 was showing that he was processing more of Data's engrams and being like Data himself.
he was braver then a thousand klingons, wiser then a million vulcans, more loyal then anyone ever could be. and in spite of his inability to feel for years had a heart bigger then a dyson sphere. a fitting end to a truely one of a kind soul. fare thee wel data..
I'm glad you liked it Brent. Its too bad I am not doing something professionally like this and getting paid for it, lol. I was extremely happy to honor you in this way :)))))
Honestly, I thought it was so who ever it is, HE BECAME MY INSPIRATION to try to do something funny and nice for Mr. Data. So thank you Mr. Spiner - who ever you are.

They won't have Data come back, but they will have some reference back to him, and some descendant.
Khan Noonien Singh...
inspired Arik Soong...
who's desendant was Noonion Soong (who was named Noonien due to his family's admiration for augments like Khan Noonien Singh)
who created Lore, Data, and B-4.
So something will tie back to this at some time.
