  • He posterized the whole Bulls' squad. The Sonice deserved game 2 in the OT.

  • How many championships do the supersonics have, I may have to check the record books, but I'm betting it's zero, dunk all you want, pip and Jordan will just take it to the bank

  • @DRRTOUR ya go check the record books we have 1 in 1979 and lost twice in the finals- once too the bullets and the other to Chicago.... go hate on Kemp somewhere else

  • He dicked right by Jordan and Posterized Pippen. He is the greatest in-game dunker of all-time.

  • damn Pippen must not have ESPN! Don't jump you damned dummy!!

  • lol i love how pippen tries to duck in midair as if hes tryin to land faster to avoid being dunked on

  • pippen is much better than u trash

  • those are some nice team jackets the sonics bench has on

  • Back when the NBA was worth a damn

  • Pippen ; how many rings? Kemp 0. he should have played for the HG's . The new HG's the OG's would have cut him

  • The good old days of the NBA

  • pippen is better than that trash

  • @KEVIN31881 You have to be kidding.

Pippen the ugly brat, tiangular headed motherfucker who rode on Jordans coat tails.

Then stabbed other players in the back.

  • MJs lil bitch ass got skooled

  • What if Kemp and Pippen switched teams in the 90s.....

  • @TheMackdaddy007 maybe kemp wouldnt have five hundred kids and weigh 340? Perhaps playing on a title winner consistently would have changed his attitude

  • It all bout MJ but shawn is good too

  • The '96 Finals was the peak of Shawn Kemp.......it was a painful decline for him and his fans in the years that followed :(

  • pippen was still a better overall player than kemp

  • Kemp and Pippen got each other in the same year. Pippen blasted Kemp with a power dunk during the regular season of '96 and Kemp got his sweet revenge in the Finals.

  • That music makes want to get in a time machine.

  • i friggin loved 90's basketball

  • I remember watching this game after school that night. Man those were the good old days.

  • Look at the bench reaction at 0:01

  • "You are watching NBA on NBC..." miss NBA in the 90s

  • Maybe Pippens championship rings got in the way....Kemp had not such problems.

  • That is a grown man dunk, Pippen a all time defender got roasted. OUCH!!!

  • the 1 dislike is scottie pippen

  • When I was a kid, I thought his name was Shawn Kempo, because everytime he dunked the announcers would say Kemp Ohhhh!

  • @TheoStarks would be a sold out arena every single time haha

  • Jesus Christ. This was the most epic finals (in my eyes). My hometown team VS. the defending champs, the bulls. It was amazing bc we had a chance at winning but also, Jordan was in town :)

I also gotta say it was a good game. Even as a sonics fan, I believed the bulls could not be beaten but my sonics gave a good fight. MAAAN, how I wish basketball was like this today.

  • OFFENSIVE FOUL ON JORDAN?

    CAN IT BE?

  • larry johnson 4 points

  • I have a green w/ yellow trim #40 Kemp Sonics jersey since middle school. Im 30 now.

  • pippen got the hell out of the way...lolll

  • He has 18 kids by 25 different women!!! I also think that, that was normal dunk, nothing special at all.

  • The real historical value of this vid is Michael Jordan getting called for a foul.

  • @EGarrett01 lolll

  • Pippen = 6'8" with 7'0" wingspan

    Kemp = 6'10" with 7'5" wingspan

  • The bench sure did enjoy that facial

  • By Jordan and Grant to shit on Scottie.

  • "Serving up a facial which is enjoyed by the Sonic bench"... Marv should direct porn movies!

  • not a posterizing dunk pippen moved out of the way

  • @billslover90 I don't think he moved out of the way..he cowered like a lil girl afraid of the boogie man. I got respect for Pippen, but he looked like a bitch on that play..

  • shawn kemp the original seattle beastmode!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:41 eric snow showing off his ups. >_<

  • I wonder if Marv Albert says "serving up a facial" when he's in bed with his wife..

  • Love the way Scottie pulled his arm back down when he realized it was too late to do anything about the dunk...as if to say "not me, I will not be a victim". But we saw it Scottie, we saw it.

  • Unblockable since the ball wasn't exposed until it was over the top of the rim. You touch it you goal tend. Just gotta give up on it.

  • marv albert the booty biting perv is talking about facials on this play

  • The dunk looked pretty similar to many dunks done by Lebron (use of large body and speed to drive the right side and throw down off of one leg). Lebron probably grew up watching Kemp, so maybe he is the inspiration for Lebron's dunks.

  • @johnnyenchilada

    dude, you're an idiot

lebron's dunks are nothing like that

    google Dr J

  • that dunk was almost as cool as john tesh's theme song.

  • Man, this is the NBA I miss....Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf all in Sonic colors. Scottie, Mike, Hodges, Armstrong on the Bulls.

  • dirty

  • Sad how Kemp's career ended..

  • Smile for the camera...lol

  • On ya ass nigga! Just nasty!

  • Marv is the best commentator in the history of basketball. He never changes his style lol

  • No one played harder in this series, on both teams, than Shawn Kemp.

  • serving up a facial!!

  • As a pure talent, Pippen couldn't carry Kemp's luggage. To have a guy that's 6'10" who can move like Kemp is unreal. Only a couple of other big guys ever had that kind of athletic ability, one of them named Olajuwon.

  • @Sierra688 You must not know much about basketball. Scottie Pippen is a 6'8" point guard who can guard 1 though 5 effectively. Scottie has the arms of a 7'er. Kill that noise.

  • @upabittoolate I wouldnt say point guard, Point forward sounds right. But ya that guy saying "Pippen couldn't carry kemp's luggage" is nonsense, im a huge Sonics fan but even i know pippen is one of the all time greats, kemp was just one of the top 10 PFs of the 90's.

  • @hbksteve2002 5apg for his career? That's a point guard to me. Hell, MJ didn't average that many assists when Coach Collins pushed MJ out to the point. And having watched many of (if not most of) the Bulls games after Pip got drafted (by Seattle ironically) & examining their scheme, I can tell you: Scottie was the Triangle's point guard. MJ was actually the low post man. BJ, Pax & Chickenman Kerr spotted up in the corners or the elbows like traditional small forwards do.

  • @upabittoolate There is no doubt Pippen initiated the offence for the bull's team. Great Hybrid player, The best in my opinion. But as far as the actual "POINT GUARD" name goes, i wouldnt put that label on him. I would label him as a Small forward able to play 4 positions and a "Point Forward" for the bulls team. Kemp was strickly a 4, Think the sonic's main problem was they were too young when they played the bulls, just when they were maturing-- Kemp starting bitching about contracts.

  • @hbksteve2002 My friend, Scottie was a pg in hs & college. His height & reach are incidental. If you ever watched the games, you'd've seen Scottie bringing it up. I'm not saying he's Stockton. But he was that offense's catalyst. You can't deny 6apg (in his prime yrs).

As for Seattle, their problem was balance. There were too many players out of position. E. Johnson, D. Ellis, H. Hawkins, S. Perkins, K. Gill, S. Kemp... tweeners. You can't run if you don't know where to obe & lack discipline.

  • @hbksteve2002 And Kemp, although he always hit the boards hard, is more like a tweener. His athleticism made it easy for him to guard small forwards. In addition, Cage, McKey & Perkins were the 4s on most of those Sonics squads. That was part of the Sonics problem (aside from the fact that they'd've never beat the Bulls) too. The Sonics had too many tweeners. That made them kinda unbalanced at times.

  • @hbksteve2002 If you had actually read what I posted, you'd see that I prefaced my comments with the qualifier "As a pure talent." Obviously Pippen had the more successful (though generally overrated) career, but athletically, Pippen was like a child compared to Kemp. Kemp was bigger, stronger, more explosive and just more gifted overall than Scottie. No shame in that, though.

  • @Sierra688 Well of course Kemp was "Bigger, Stronger & more explosive" He was a POWER FORWARD. Scottie Pippen was a Forward/Guard... I dont think ur "Qualifier" as a "pure talent" is the correct terminology-- I think "Physical tools" would be more the wording you were looking for. Cause as far as "Talent" goes I would have to go in Pippen's favor. Pippen could defend most positions fairly easily & is set the benchmark for "Versatile" wing players.

  • the 40 stands for 40 oz

  • What a great series that was... too bad my Sonics lost :-(

  • marv albert best nba commentator ever. FUCK BILL WALTON

  • one of the greatest dunkers!!!! second to michael jordan!

  • "he posterized scottie pippen!" haha love marv albert.

  • LMAO, As soon as Scottie jumped with him you could see the look on his face like "I shouldn't have done that".

  • shawn kemp has to be one of the greatest dunkers ive ever seen

  • The supersonics were tha shit back then!

  • @Manolo1013 Fo real. Kemp and Payton were a great combo.

  • pippen is gay

always in the shadow of jordan

    always behind the master

  • G.D.O.A.T

  • he moved so smooth like PG. it was always pleasure to watch him - until cavs gived him 100 mln $ . after that be became obese ;]

  • Kemp was the best game dunker! its like puting amare lebron and dwight together that how special dunker he was to me!

  • I wanted to be like Kemp when I was younger....... too bad I stopped growing at 5'8''

  • Two things

1 I really miss that NBA on NBC music.

2 Kemp rarely had to extended his arm when he dunked. He jumped so high with no effort at all. There hasn't been anyone in the NBA like Kemp. If Vince Carter was a power forward then maybe

  • @BigVilFromWestPhil

The best comparison to Kemps dunks in my opinion is Dominique Wilkins which obviously predated Kemp. Dwight Howard does a little "Kempish" dunks when he throws it down into the basket without actually pulling on the rim. Although, Kemp wasn't afraid to rock to rim and backboard. Love his play!

  • what!?!?! a offensive foul on Michael Jordan!? thats blastphemy! lmao

  • Shawn Kemp Lebron's Daddy

  • posterization

  • I can't believe the Sonics lost this series.

  • I miss watching these old games with my family back in the day, and the classic ESPN NBA theme, watching old school pepsi commercials and what not i really want to turn back the clock

  • Sigh that NBC theme bring back good memories

  • touche...i miss that era of the nba

  • Exactly-I miss that theme song.

  • come on man, was he seriously thinking about challenging a Reign-man dunk? .... damn fool

  • Man, if only Jordan didn't come back, Sonics would of won that year.

  • Shawn Kemp OOOHHH he posterized Scotty Pippen LOL XD. Kemp was an absolute beast in his prime. No one can compare to him since.

  • I can watch this over and over......... POWER

  • Now thats a mans man dunk, you could even hear the grunt he made when cramming it down over pippen!

  • @Enigmatic945 Stromile Swift used to grunt like that too.

  • Kemp was a beast

  • @1VC4U ya till the lockout happened and he ate until he looked like jerome bettis

  • Im still tryna figure out why Scottie P jumped with Shawn Kemp anybody have a explanation for this?

  • My guess would be it was the finals, you gotta try and defend but against kemp not gonna happen

  • Pippen owned lol

  • @oly681 yeah but pippen has 6 rings, lol
