  • These 2 guys are the original Buffalo Springfield ,so great to see them together like this ,,talking of older days ,love it

  • I would love to have a beer with these guys and tell what happened to Buffllo Springfield and Neil

  • Beatles= tavern party rock Neil= Country surf rock depends what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes I like listening to Bieber when I am resolving problems with constipation I mean what ever is suitable.

  • beattles beattles beattles....,Listen I love the fab four as much as anyone, but if truth be told...while alot of their songs may have been innovative...just when they reached a point of greatness that only comes from creating....they got caught up in the acid movement. And if you want to know why so much of what was created in the late 60's is rejected by younger generations, ask them ...its because of the obvious masive drug use.

  • where's the rest of the interview?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey like wow man does anyone else think of Cheech and Chong while listening to these great guys?

  • Where's David ....

Moe ain't got no place to hide, and he ain't sharing nothing again!

  • I love the Springfield but nobody was as innovative as The Beatles....how old are you?

  • @gary11350 not true at all. The 60s music shouldn't be clicked in your head as "THE BEATLES". lots of INNOVATIVE bands came out of it, and pushed aside by beatlemania.

  • @M0j0S0D0pe420 I agree with you that there were many innovative bands during the 60's. The Stones, Dylan, the who, the beach boys... the list goes on and on... But i'd have to say that of all these bands, the beatles set the bar.

  • @riseagan man not even lol. Dylan was way more popular amongst the young'ins

but im repping Grateful Dead :)

  • The Buffalo Springfield is one of the greatest groups of all time; they were as innovative as the Beatles and completely kicked down the walls of what rock 'n' roll music was "supposed" to be. Their "Broken Arrow" is one of the best psychedelic songs; light a candle, turn off the electric lights, get relaxed -- non-chemically -- close your eyes, and just l i s t e n . . . It will blow your mind naturally.

  • This amounts to a public safety warning for all those who think that chronic marijuana use is harmless.

  • @rombit123

What's the warning? That you'll be old, happy, famous, and legendary?

  • yeah way koool i was in college at the time of the kent state U.S.government killing of students on a university campus . it was REAL at that time real bummer!!!!!!! PEACE !!!

  • Two really nice guys.

  • I photographed CSN&Y 42 years ago in 1969 when they sang Down By the River on The Music Scene for ABC TV. Have a look by Googling "cacheagency" Once you link to the site, click on Photographers and Collections. Then click on Jeff Allen. Hope you enjoy exploring the over 350 rock photographs from 1968-72 I shot , I'd love your feedback! One of my Pink Floyd photos from 1970 was in last September's issue of Rolling Stone magazine for the upcoming "Wall" article they did on Roger Waters.

  • @r1bikecam Roger Waters. What a sell out. So, you completely dictate a great band to create this incredibly overrated album, and then you take advantage of how overrated it was by repeatedly touring with it for, what, four hundred and twelve times now?

  • @BrokenChair88 And that had *what* to do with photographing bands 40 years ago?

  • @r1bikecam Nothing. You just mentioned Roger Waters, so it sorta sent me into thinking about him. Sorry. I'll try to never ever respond to you in a way that isn't 100% related to exactly what you wanted people to pick up on again.

  • @r1bikecam

hope u took naked pictures of hippie chicks in 1969..now that i'd pay you for..post those..thats when sex couldn't kill ya'....and the hippie chickies were natural and earthie..not like today..all waxed and siliconed up...

    bring back the hippie 60's...

  • @ChiroQuacker I like silicone and waxed women.

  • @kazraz72

todays siloconed waxed groupies are extortionists who set you up and have your baby and hire a jew woman lawyer to publicly humiliate you and sue your balls off and portray themselves as victims...

whereas the groupie chicks of the 60's took birth control, loved to fuck and party and took care of you along the way....with honorable hippie-like intentions...

    big difference my man...big difference

  • @ChiroQuacker Yes, it's true what you say. There should be a law to stop goldigging bitches from doing the things you mention.

  • Wow. Did you actually say, "a jew woman lawyer..." ????? Really????

  • @1m00nleo

leo...google search "attorney gloria alred"....my comment speaks for itself...

now if ya wanna be politically correct...sorry not interested ...in the 60's we said it "like it is"

  • @ChiroQuacker, So which part offends and/or threatens you... Jew? Woman? Lawyer? All of the above?

You may have been around in the 60's... as was I... but apparently you didn't absorb much.

  • @1m00nleo

what sucks is that in the 60's neil could fuck loads of hot groupies who did not intend to extort money from him and destroy his reputation unlike women of today

now that statement is a fact and a reality but you are full of shit who says one thing and thinks another

unlike me who says it like it is....

  • Love these guys! Papa Neil & Cowboy Stephen. It was, just glorious!! Love'm to death, my heros.

  • what year is this interview from

  • Great, candid interview. I'm surprised because I thought that these guys didn't like each other (?)....

But maybe it's water under the bridge now -- it's nice to see them reuniting for the upcoming Buffalo Springfield tour.

  • Ohh to be in their shoes one day.

  • hihi they are lovely and happy! Enan54, ure the old one

  • way cool ! what a gift to music. Truly you guys have inspired my music. when i started playing guitar i played mostly Buffalo Springfiled and Neil Young songs. You may not have won the fight in the sixties but you have changed the world. You changed the thinking of people to what is exceptable and what is not.

    Peace!

    Howling Wolfgang

  • Great group of guys in that band for sure.

  • que pasada tío!...que buena onda

  • It was the drugs man, but they were cool before cool was invented

  • Neil Young= Jesus

  • Cooler than shit.

  • @HollywoodSoundtracks . I would like to know if you know someting. I am pretty sure these guys don't like each other. But that's just something I've kind of created in my own head from so-called stories of their relationship. Didn't the record company sort force them together for Crosby Stills Nash and "then" young?

  • @heyman29323 A lot of people haven't really gotten along that well with Steve over the years, so it's nothing exclusive to Neil, particularly. Steve's not usually trying to be a jerk, really, but he often comes on a little too strong for many people. You might say he's got "too much varrooom for the room."

  • @heyman29323 The only answer I've heard is that CS&N wanted Neil to join their group as a sideman but Neil demanded and received a full partnership. Hence the change to CSNY.

  • These two make Jr. Samples from Hee Haw look like a class act.

  • Yes I agree it was glorious.. music back then is music for now.. timeless. But, gosh did ya have to get old-er ? lol

  • @Niksgrammie And even lying about our age does no good!

  • Stephen & Neil are likely hangin' at Neil's ranch above Woodside. Notice the redwoods in the background; that's Neil's church!

  • @dmartens101 No rumor. They will play at the Bridge School Benefit! It would be great if Jim Messina joined them.

  • These guys still rock!!

  • look at my music

  • Well, they never did learn to dress any better. But music? None better.

  • We got old they didn't. They are relevant ... We connect to relevance through them.. No regrets

  • Buffalo Springfield then Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young... Great music!

  • We're still fighting the same war. But, it's so much more complicated. Doesn't seem like there's a way out. I feel so sorry for the young ones today.

  • super group

  • GOD BLESS THIS GUYS

  • I love these guys!

  • que hermoso verlos juntos!!!!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahah stephen's such a spac nowadays

  • Way cool

  • Wish this were longer! Just a tiny tidbit of what might have been a great conversation

  • yes, glorious

  • Two old warriors: it's a shame to see them get old, fascinating to hear them talk about those days.

  • Glad their still friends though they're not in springtime young.

  • Neil's supposed to be scruffy, he's the godfather of grunge afterall!

  • is neil youn still alive

  • @stereoniko23 yes

  • Yes, Neil Young is alive and well. Played at the Olympic closing ceremonies last night.

  • it must have been such a trip...

  • Stills sounds so ragged and this was over 10 years ago. It's a shame what his voice is like now because he had a great singing voice for a while. Too much coke!

  • He sounds a lot better lately, great show on latest solo tour. Don't know what he did, but it worked.

  • this is great ~ j.

  • 2 legends ,rare to see this

  • two icons that helped to define a generation, thankyou for all that you do. shooting the sh#t,interesting video

  • Tow of the greatest that helped shape rock & roll. Thanks Steven and Neil. You guys have provided countless hours of incredible music for me.

  • Thanks for the post!

  • U can't blame them for getting old. They're awesome.

  • @Enan54 Guess what we are all getting old.Rock on

  • scruffy looking old buggars

  • yeah but Brilliant scruffy lookin old buggars,

  • those sequoia sempervirens you see in the background are the only redwoods living outside of REDWOOD CITY !!

  • this little drug-home-movie looks like it was filmed at neils " broken arrow ranch " , its just south of des moines , iowa , off the interstate , neil bought up a lot of bottom land there , to plant a rope plantation , hemp rope , its the richest kind !!!

  • It's a trip to see these guys hangin' and reminiscing together like old war buddies. Love it!

  • Steve had a chance to be a Monkee but his teeth were not right.Hey I was NOT the Casting directer. But it iz the truth.

  • Then I'm very grateful for bad teeth.

  • Very cool

  • Gawd damn Hippies!

  • country hippies

  • stopjunkscience....that was amazing wording. "making money for an insane coke sniffing minority"....youve said what i havent been able to thx

  • Not saying Stills has "lost" it, but wow! Pass me another pork chop dude! Some of the greatest R&R done by these two men. Seems like Young has lived a bit more "wisely" than Stills tho.

  • We'll check back with you in 35 years with a video camera to see how you look.

  • Sorry to bust your fantasy ... I'm not gay but I do feel that I have a right to my opinion... you will offer me that right won't you.

  • no. no i wont

  • Great, then I'll let you have the last word as I know you must.

    Peace B with U Bro

    RS45

  • cheers mate

  • A lot of miles on these guys! Great talents but Stills seems kind of fried.

  • The 60's stuff should be played again...its still relevant .

See how he cant be truly honest without consequences... like...'wow I remember all those dope smoking sessions where we wrote just great material and got laid all the time...hey man, now my life sucks...'

  • U.S. soldier in Iraq shoots dead five comrades...12.05.09 Why? he suddenly realised his life was a sham and one huge lie. Soldiers are also given large doses of chemicals to zombiefy them and control them when they flip. They are variants of anti-depressants and they can cause people to want to harm themselves for sure...Tamiflu also does this with children. WakeUp soldiers you are simply the modern day gladiators (sacrificing your existence) making money for an insane coke sniffing minority.

  • Cool & rare!

  • i love david crosby wheres he atttttt.

  • this is really really REALLY cool!!

seeing friends sit together like that and just talk about the good ol' days..

  • why do you people keep on comparing which of CSNY members are better than an other

  • I always wonder about that myself - it seems to be an early childhood trait that carries over into adulthood for a lot of people ("My daddy's better than your daddy" turns into "my favorite rock star is better than your favorite rock star.")

  • neil young is one of the greats un questionably, stills is close but i wouldnt call him great.

there is no1 that i would say is a better songwriter than neil, dylan, lennon, paul simon id have on about a par but i dont think you could say any were better.

  • Listen to the last two CSNY albums, American Dream and Looking Forward. Except for Neil's songs the albums are unbearable. Neil has the most unaffected voice in rock and roll music. Not many sing with such purity--particularly the affected, tries-too-hard, Stills. And I think the same could be said about Neil's emotive guitar playing. The one thing that you can say about Stills is that he consistently overdoes it. As Neil would say "sings with too much soul."

  • Young is just a song-writer. He's done real well with it, but Stills not only wrote all CSN&Y's best songs, he also plays better and sings way better than Young.

  • Yeah, ummm good point....

  • also young is an amazing guitar player in my opinion

  • People! You all forgetting Richie Furay? He was an integral part of Buffalo Sprigfield, and Stills and Young dissed him. In fact, Neil Young was a no show when Richie was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame....he sent a FAX congratulating Richie. ( What a Dick.) Stills did show however and they both did some studio stuff on Richies latest album 'The Heartbeat of Love'.

  • Don't think you can say one is better then the other - I'd say they both had different qualities which made them both amazing musicians, also what made them sound so good together in BS and CSNY along with the other two.

Personally though I must say I prefer young ;P

  • Neil Young is a living legend. He's one of the five greatest songwriters/lyricist there has ever been and one of the most original and influential electric guitarist ever.

  • Let's just hope something terrible happens so that.. perhaps thirty or forty years from now there may be another sixties.

  • Its happening now!

  • God were we lucky to be alive in the 60's or what?

  • Those had to have been special times for both of them starting out their careers and seeing how far they have come in all these years. Just outstanding Musicians all around

  • clássico!!!

  • Man,,it's nice to see two legends remenisce.

    Long may you run guys.

  • kids today are really getting shortchanged with the crap they listen too..the best of the best of today couldnt get a fucking record deal when these two old timers were in their prime...

  • Right on - music sucks today - whose good - whose better that Hendrix, or dylan or zeppelin or the Beatles or CSN and Y today?

  • yeah. i mean there was the bubble gum and pop phenomenon then but it was still pretty organic but to me it's like the film clip has overshadowed the artist. also genre lock has occurred. take rap for example. i remember NWA, public enemy, ice t, de la soul. the last ORIGINAL sounding artist i heard was missy elliott. now it's all cookie cutter formulaic stuff like nashville's been for years (i have a friend who wrote for them...VEEEERRY strict writing style). meh the VIBE is king!!

  • hey tex you must be fucking kidding me..that nwa shit, etc about hoochies and bitches and pluggin a gap is "ignorant" minstrel show garbage for an audience that likes to be "dumb downed"....i have worked with ice t...pal he aint no neil young..lmfao....shiiiiiiit..

  • why don't you try actually reading what i was saying instead of putting some bizarre interpretation of your own on it?? it was AN EXAMPLE, NOT A COMPARISON.

    jesus...put the crack pipe down!

  • thats a dogshit comparison..boneheads like you who cried the day "biggie" died and act like he was dylan...these are dumb ignorant motherfuckers...they cant play guitar or any instrument..they cant sing..they suck...their lyrics are embarrassing ...i know women are bitches whores hoochies the same shit over and over so to compare the brilliance of say neil young to rapper minsterel show performers shows what a dumb motherfucker u are...the only crack i smoke is in your moms panties..

  • it wasn't a comparison you fucking moron. i just told you that. it was an EXAMPLE. got that yet dick for brain??? you sound like being buttfucked by your fat alcoholic dad has sent you completely mental. fuck off back to rehab so you can lick the toilet seats like you usually do you brain dead gimmer. nobody cares about your opinion, least of all me!

  • Poetry, absolute poetry!

  • It's good to see old friends shooting the breeze about days gone by, but how glorious the days are ahead. Like to see 'em ROCK the house again!

  • "Just glorious"....that's right, Steven. Thanks for all the great music.

  • nice to see two great men remanising..you guys are the best..stills great voice..young wicked guitar..

  • stills was the better guitar player, even neil would tell you that...

  • Linda booed?Doesn't surprise me.Her politics get her thumbs down.Besides she's a cow,lmao

  • Two of my favorite artists of all time. Brilliant, both of 'em. Thirty years on and I still spin the vinyls they're on...every week...

  • Linda Ronstadt got booed? It just goes to show society has no damn respect for women. Especially the men. Ronstadt is the real deal.

  • Look at those two old geezers, lol...and I say that with great affection cuz I live in Los Angeles and I used to follow Buffalo Springfield around everywhere in the mid 60's. They played small clubs, high school gymasiums, etc...I even ended up at a pary at Steve's house in Malibu one day. Neil was there too. Those were the days...

  • unfortuntly they dont get along very well

  • obliously two old time friends with so much talent and life experience

  • For some perspective on these two read

    Neil Youngs' biography "Shaky"

  • I saw Neil in Nov 1972 at the LB Arena, Linda Ronstadt opened, by the way, it is possible that Glen Frey and Don Henley were her back up band, who knew? Anyway, everyone came to hear Neil and practically booed pour Linda off the stage, who knew that she was going to be that successful, who knew?

  • Linda Ronstadt's band was the Stone Pony's or

    Ponies...

  • I saw Linda as an opener to Neil Young in 1972in New Haven, CT. They did the same thing to her there (wanted her off the stage). Don't know about Henley and Frey being part of any of this. I did see them as the Eagles around the same time in Hartford, CT. They were an openig band for, let's see.. was it "Yes"? The Stone Ponies were long gone by 1972. That was the band she sang lead for in 1968 with the hit "Different Drum" that was actually written by future Monkee Mike Nesmith.

  • I've been following these guys for over 30 years, lots of concerts, etc. and I have to say that they are/ have been magic. I think a lot of people who say they don't like Stephen Stills have a problem with his eclectic taste and talent; they're not quite / him sure what they're going to get. He is adventurous and he doesn't give up until he gets it right. So if you think Steve sux, I think you may be a tad narrow-minded because you don't say why.

  • Iwish i could has seen them all those years ago, cause i heard they were really great to see live, because of the way they combined electric and acoustic guitars, this video is the closest i'll ever get--JVS

  • I saw them way back in the day at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Young came out wearing one of those leather western jackets with the long fringe hanging off the arms. I swear the fringe was 2 feet long and everyone in the audience laughed.

  • neils so cute

  • He IS, especially in part 3 of this interview! Neil is a HOOT, and I'd love to get him REALLY drunk at a party and just sit back and listen and watch what he'd say and do, tee hee!

  • i saw David crosby on The simpsons yesterday, He looked very much like stephen stills :P

  • Great to hear some feed back from such a milestone band of that time. Thanks Steve and Neil for the footnotes. Wish I'd have seen you live back then. Marc Trainor.

  • i wish it the voices matched the mouths and actions

  • One great guitar player (Stills) and one great composer/singer (Young). They should make another record.

  • I would rate Stephen to be all three! Stephen-unlike Neil-has one of his original songs

among BOTH the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's

100 Songs That Changed/Defined The History Of Rock Music" as well as "Rolling Stone's Critic's Poll of The One 100 Most Important Songs In The History Of Rock:"For What It's Worth". Also, I never thought that Neil had much of a voice whereas I have always like the quality of Stephen's voice.

  • I love them both, but neil's voice has held up much better thane steve's, although steve did have a great voice. Both of these guy's are "all three" in my book.

  • It's because Neil never had a good singing voice to start with, so the damage isn't so noticable now that he's older. Actually, since Stephen finished up his cancer treatments and surgery his voice has regained ALOT of it's prowess. Stephen had been sick for awhile, but had continued to perform regardless(because he LOVES to), whereas when Neil was fighting cancer he absolutely didn't perform. When you're on treatment it's devastating to your voice, makes it hard to TALK much less sing!

  • Why do you need to compare them with each other? They're both fantastic musicians, why do all these intangibles matter? And who cares what 'Rolling Stone' picks as the best songs. Rolling Stone is full of over commercialized shit run by a bunch of bureaucrats.

  • Yup, these two men are TOPS in my book too! :)

  • I would have to say Neil has held up better than Stephen did. But back in the day, Stephen was the biggest, man! He
