I totally agree! I found it so mind boggling that they gave it to Gwyneth too, and the funny thing is most people who have no knowledge of who won that year assume that Cate did.
Cate is such an amazingly versatile actress, I'm sure if she had been offered the role Gwyneth played she would've done a great, if not exceptional job of it!

omg yes, Cate's oscar is way overdue, Gwen was great is Shakespeare in love, but Cate Blanchett blew minds in ELizabth, Her performance was just undescribable, she gave me goosebumps. Her portayal of he virgin queen was i think one of the best ever.

She really should have won the Oscar! Of course Gwyneth was great in Shakespeare, but not as much as Cate in Elizabeth. She totally deserved it.
