@brkuspsngs tu chutia hai. saale faltu style mat maar. faltoo bakar bakar mat kar, acchi movie hai, bakwas maat kar 'bah' 'cos' 'dis' saale english ki to maa behen kar di tune. its a good movie, i respect.
This movie is in no way a representation of Bangladeshi. Its true bangladeshi's would never act like this but its also true that people have dreams and aspire to be more than what is expected of them. I found this story covered much more then the affair, troubled home life and the racism. (I am an asian girl by the way) Chanu was my favourite his passion for life and his family was endearing!
@supezup I completely agree with you. I've just finished reading the book. I've never seen the film but judging by this trailer it's not a very faithful adaptation... pity. I especially noticed that Chanu wasn't quite as I had imagined :)
I have read the book. I plan to boycott the film. This is because the portrayal of my (i am Bangladeshi) women and whore. I don't think Monika Ali know what it is like to be a Bangladeshi woman, after all, she is half white and grew up in England.
I am just disappointed that we work so hard to bring up or reputation, and she slams it like that.
My women are empowered and i can't relate to this story in any way because of the different experience I have, of my mom, and other women in my community.
would anyone know where i can get this movie???? i just finished the book, and had done an essay on it. its a fantastic book. and i am dying to watch this movie
Just started book today and had trouble putting it down.About halfway through and anxious to finish.Happy to find out a movie has been made.Problem is to find it in Canada.Anyone having knowledge of Canadian showing please let me know.

i cant possibly agree more with you supezup. portrayal of bangladesh can not be made by the experience of a small group of people.

the movie is really good!!
but Monica ali has no idea
that a foreign Bangladeshi girl
actually would never have an affair
specially in a new country.

Having read the novel two years ago - I'm all too curious to watch this film - This FPS programme is a perfect appetizer for the film.
