First, in LA2, magic is deemed as acceptable, and academies are actually set
up for it.
In LA1, Alph and Lucia talk about a world where Witches and humans could live together. This is very much the case in LA2 until Sophia takes a certain action.
I assume that the catastrophe in LA1 influenced LA2's world.
As for Cecille ans Hugo'a appearances, I believe it's somewhat of a cameo.
Instead of have all three based on the same story each game gets it's own long story to make it more fun otherwise they could just spout one story into three parts and that would suck
Lol this one looks like it has more Ecchi than it's predecessors, I wonder how this one will tie with the others, I'm only 26% way through part 2 and still have yet to find out how the stories tie.
@mono3474 wikia says (as well as my own view) says that Cecille and Hugo (spelled Yugo in LA2) have no connection to the ones in LA1 besides the look alike as Hugo was dead and Cecilled changed into the Twilight Witch. but Venessa on the other hand...with her personality of just acting on what she wants to do...yeah i'd say this is Venessa from LA1
@dragondisaster well if u think about it, it has to take place before LA1 b/c hugo is still alive, cecille isn't in witch form yet, and alice and therese come into this from "over the rainbow".
Oh no LA2 only had vanessa in the spa dungeon this time the dungeon features every single witch X_X Aletheas fire kopins so anoying they wiped out my lvl 99 Shion and Sara Only Elulu and Raira were left to kill her >:O
I didn't expect them to make another Luminous Arc game! Atlus sure makes really great games! I'm hoping this one is as good as the other ones. I'm sure this one is probably about a group of knights teaming up with the witches to save the world, similar to the other Luminous Arc games.
Seriously? Luminoua Aec 3? Now they're just milking that they're the only ones making half-decent SRPG's on the DS... It should have stopped at 2, they had a good run and they should have ended it there, not continued to milk it.
This time it doesn't even have any interesting looking characters, and the character designs were the only thing that kept me interested in the other two.
No. Considering that differences between 1 and 2, it never looked like a planned thing and they weren't good enough for me to actually look this stuff up.
The makers of the game mentioned it in an interview (I think it was for Nintendo Power) for the first game. They said something to the effect of making the first game establish how they were going to go about the plot and the second to work out the kinks in the battle system. This one is where they are suppossedly going to combine the two. (or something like that, I'll see if I can find the issue it was in)
@CrimsonDragon24 If the series makes money why bother to end it? Clearly they must be profiting which means people are buying the games, otherwise they wouldn't bother making anymore
@dragondisaster Way to respond to a 10 month old comment. I have no idea how the series brings in money, but you know, some people like to end it on a high note instead of just going and going until they can't afford to keep doing it.
The Luminous Arc series sort of has a Final Fantasy style deal where each game takes place in its own world. The difference is that the game worlds seem to be connected, part of the same multiverse, if you will. That's why Vanessa, Alice and Therese appear in LA2 . While I did like the characters in the first game, i also like the characters in the second.
Regardless, I am looking foward to this game. I imagine Atlus will annouce it sometime soon for those of us in North America.
i played the second and i really liked it XD. i wanted to get the first, never have yet though o.o. prolly still will though. and i really want the 3rd one.
Err-How was the first game any different from the second? The gameplay was almost exactly the same except for Roland getting powers fropm the girls and Alpha never changing. Only other difference i saw was that you actually had the ability to go to a town or revisit battlefields with half-decent leveled enemies. All bonuses if you ask me.
changing gameplay means how different factors distract the element of the game, by not regaining full health after leveling up, it takes away from the uniqueness of LA, because it's the only game i know that does that, and thus making it more difficult.
Er--ALOT of SRPG's do that...It's hardly a unique factor. Plus it hardly effects gameplay. it's not a valid tactic to rely on leveling up for healing.
No not really, while battling regaining full health was one of the unique things that critics liked, in the Nintendo Power issues, they highly praised it. And yes, when you are battling, you use the elements of the game to your full advantage.
lol what? regaining health on level up is a common feature in MANY SRPG's. If you or these Nintendo Power critics haven't seen it, it just measn you're not much of an SRPG gamer.
And no, relying on level-up for HP restoring is not a valid method since you can't control exactly when you level up. All real gamers know this.
are you kidding me? i'm quite the hardcore gamer, although i might not play that many srpg's i do play countless rpgs. I also work as a game tester for nintendo.
Yes you can control when you level up, by going into short monster battles before hand, you can gain exp. and use it to your advantage during the important battles.
You just admitted you don't play SRPG's so you've been arguing an invalid point all along.
And that just sets you up to level soon after entering the battle, which isn't going to help you since you'll already have high HP. I repeat: It is NOT a valid tactic.
in the first luminous arc that was semi valid, because healing your allies gaves you ton of xp, in other words you could control the amount of mana to plan a ressurection or a healing just to recharge your mana. I had Lucia and Mel used as ressurection factories and healing support at last level and they barely lost any mana at all because they kept leveling up O_o.

In LA2 there is a connection with LA1, but only minor (parallel universe and some cameos).
And Two characters from LA 1 "come from the other side of the rainbow" to join your party in LA 2.
Story-wise, not at all.
