I preferred series 5 to 6. There were good stories in series 6 but the frustration over wait for the season arc to resolve itself became way to big and spoiled it for me. The story became bigger than the programme itself. I just want to sit down and watch a nice episode, not have to wait over 6 months to final learn what really happened right at the beginning!!! And the whole River thing... everyone was talking about it so much and it all turned out to be the most obvious answer

I just started watching series 5 on my local PBS station in Chicago. It is up to the 2nd half with Prof River Song. She was not a professor on that episode. I wonder if she ever was one though. The Doctor is actiing differenlty about her and said it was a long time ago. Maybe because he regenerated and makes him not pay attention to her and it makes him think of it as a long time ago because he is not the David Tennant Doctor. She did not say about Doona Noble this time though.
this series was better than i thought it would be the exploding tardis, all the doctors enimes returning at the end of the series and the cracks in the universe. i thought Steven moffat has done a good job. I have watched this show since its 2005 revival and have greatly enjoyed it all but when David tennent left i was gutted yes but to be onist Matt smith did a good job and i couldn't wait until series 6 starts however the show fell apart after that awful Christmas special in 2010.
@GHFsheepdogs David Tennant used a gun. So did Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Daviso, Colin Baker and Paul McGann. The Doctor adopted a no gun policy in the wake of the Time War as he had witnessed and caused enough bloodshed. But in both David and Matt's cases (as well as Paul McGann's) they didn't use the gun to kill anyone just escape a tight situation.
@1000guy1 Really? I'm really liking the second half of season 6. I hope they cut off River Song in the second season though, I feel like the lack of her character let the stories in the second half flourish considerably. Less Doctor/Companion centric stuff and more the Doctor and his companions helping other people. Which how it should be.
