Perfectissimo! Man that's tasty....thanks for sharing!! I usually grill mine outdoors year around, but I like this method~ much nicer when its raining.
I lived vicariously through this. Followed every step involving wine, and got the steakhouse burger from Carl's Junior. There is no steak in it. fail.
@Jamiesyme999 well I try to keep my wallet full so I can eat Kobe ribeyes on a regular basis, lol. I usually by them instead. I'm not the king of Spain or anything, but I like to treat myself, lol. Nothing wrong with a regular ribeye though, they are very tasty too.
@eqsmooth Care to enlighten me oh master of the truly vapid? There's no steak etiquette and even if there were it wouldn't take into consideration preference and different styles all over the world as well as cuts of steak. If you knew how to make a good steak you would never consider watching a video as such which puts you in the same boat as the rest of the people who are just trying to learn.
@7 Oh suck my my Certified Angus Cock you milk less cow. There are ways to do things and I just fired a mini $12.00 CAB filet mignon to perfection. It was a masterpiece, so fuck you, you little cunt. Most uploaders and commenters are just happy to get views and look at their counters you stupid fuck. They don't care if they are being helpful. Me. I'm an educator and i know quite a bit, so listen up and dummy up, you little bitch. Spice, rub w/a small amount of olive oil and sear, grill or broil.
@eqsmooth Oh you must be the greatest educator of all time if you talk like that. Before you try to educate anyone else with your ignorance and arrogance why don't you educate yourself on the concept of relativity and just plain good old manners? Or is it your way or the highway? If you think your technique is the be all end all then you're living on cloud nine. You dumb British fuck how the hell do you chew a steak when half your teeth are probably missing?
@7477238 Who are you calling British? They don't know how to cook. And I floss twice a day. Great set of teeth, but i don't need to chew a melt in your mouth medium rare filet.
@eqsmooth different tastes and thus different techniques... Some would say pepper burns on a hot pan, and you should put salt to start with - but depends on desired end amount of salt. If you dont pre-salt the salt will only go on the crust anyways, and I guess some like the "contrast" between crust and center. My beef (pun intended) with this video is more that he doesnt mention anything about bad ovens ruining things, and "regular" people wont buy steaks this thick so you need alot higher heat
EVERY FUCKER HAS THEIR OWN THEORIES AND TECHNIQUES. JUST BURN AND EAT NOM NOM NOM NOM. CHEMICALLY TENDERISED EL CHEAPO MEAT TASTES LIKE SHIT. I LAUGH AT POOR PEOPLE.
Rule #1: spice the steak and then seal in the spices w//olive oil. Never put oil on first or the spices, salt float on top of the meat and do not soak into the meat. Epic fail.
I'm pretty certain that a "restaurant chef secret" isn't to stab a thermometer into the steak to check for doneness. That's how someone that is new to cooking meat would do it.
If this was an American video, most of the video would have talking and eating the steak.. I like how the "money shot" is left to the imagination. This one is for grown ups ;)
NEVER USE A MEAT THERMOMETER! they let all of the juice run out of the meat they are horrible for a good steak! if you aren't confident in the cooking of your steak then you aren't familiar enough with the method you are using to try to make something perfect like this!
"Brushing" on the oil? Trying to be "fancy"? ._. Just put a few drops onto it and spread with the bare hand(washed!). At least, this is as rustic as a meal can get, so why not getting ones hands dirty? And I'm pretty sure that the salt and pepper would season the meat more if applied before the oil comes to the party. This way, they have direct contact with the meat.
And put it on a rack in the oven for a better crust.
I could go on, but theres no more space in this comment :D
This is the color natural meat should have!!! Pale (marbled) light purple/pink, with some gray oxidation spots! Nice!!! I am tired of people asking me why the meat I buy is not super red. Not organic/natural meat is fed mega doses of Vit E, anti-MRA agents, and colored with Red 40. Enjoy the wine!!!
@droga187 i'm 11 to dislike and not because i'm a veggie person, but because this is entirely wrong. if you want the best steak of your life seek out how heston blumenthal does it.

I watched a video of Gordon Ramsay making a steak and IMO he butchered it. Put so much oil directly into the pan that it may as well have been deep fried. LOL Anyway great video here and I'm sure very tasty steak.
Im hedging my bets that there is more flavor when cooked over coals-Went to peter lugers and the steaks were alot more tender but lacking flavor-no steak is worth 100 bucks when i can get a great porterhouse at my butcher for 18 dollars
NIIIIICE! OMG i just went to the LOBELS website to see about these steaks and from what i saw, you pay about $100 smacks per steak!! This person gotta be rolling in dough to afford this meal. Now, I can only wish I coud have this:(
@washme1ful more like the restaurant had to many steaks before their next shipment so sold them at a discounted price to their employees. Or he just stole them. No one buys a whole box of $100 steaks and cooks them, themselves.
@Parkinson9999 Yes and no, those were thick steaks, he cooked them longer on the pan then he needed too but he cooked the internal with the oven. You could cook them lower in the oven if you want between rare and medium rare. These were medium rare.
