  • Crispy Critter's downfall...

Telling the truth about their cereal in a commercial during a kids cartoon.

  • Comment removed

  • Vincent Price on the Chips Ahoy commercial?!

  • I remember sooooo many of these and I was 6 years old in 1988!!! I think they played a lot of these during my beloved He-Man/She-Ra power hour on my local channel!

  • Man...I was 10 in 88...I would love now, for an opportunity to see a retro Toys R Us! My fave part of the whole video right there! I can't stand the plain brick Toys R Us now a days...and you can't go to the games and pick out a slip with a price, and go to the little door to pick it up. Boooo

  • Ghostbuster toys were awesome!

  • I had to look at those horses every day of my young life.... four sisters.....

  • OMG FRED SAVAGE ON THE JOKE MACHINE ADVERTISEMENT LOL

  • Barny has my hair! :o

ow ow, nostalgia. I just wish I could relive these times again. being a kid... with no worries. waking up early on Saturday morning and watching cartoons from 7 to noon. eatin cereal. We use to camp out in the back yard in a tent. We would take a TV out there and hook up our super nintendo . watch Saturday morning cartoons in the tent. My kids will never be able to experience this. :(

  • I always wanted to win that toy give away.

  • @mattwu911 me too, matt, me too.

  • Wow the Chipsahoy commercials!!!

  • Oh crap, Giggles Cookies. I'd forgotten about those. Dayumm, those were delicious, right?

  • i was 13 in 1988....id give anything to go back and do it all over again.......great tv.........if anyone knows anyone in the tv satelite buisness...tell them to start an all 80s tv channell with nothin but sitcoms cartoons comercials movies of the 80s.

  • Commercials were so much more imaginative and fun back in 80s/90s :)

  • Fred Savage at 0:26

  • it was a BETTER world then

  • Cocoa Crispis! Before Choco Crispis Great animation! Very creative and without computers :O :D

  • I was a 90s kid and watching this I want to try Giggles Cookies. And I want the Ghostbusters toys!!

  • Knock Knock,

    Who's there?

    Cowsgo!

    Cowsgo who?

    No, cows go moo!

  • The real ghost busters where the bomb back then and still are today. I found them on, on demand and got my niece hooked. She always asks if she can watch the ghost busters. And she's 7. That tang commerical never got old lol. The chewy chips ahoy do taste like play doh now yuck not like the used to be. Fred savage was so cute back then and still is.

  • What great episode this week. Missed it on tv but caught it online at lastnightstvshows (.) com

  • Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies now taste like Play Doh.

  • & I swear they're like half the size they used to be

  • They have other flavors of Tang besides orange at a lot of Asian Grocery stores I go to.

  • I liked the part where the little blonde clown gets nailed with a pie... She so deserved that.

  • the kid from the cocoa krispie free joke machine is fred savage

  • i remember giggles cookies, they were the bestXD

  • i wonder if that captin crunch decoder deal is still good... =|

  • It expired 9-30-88...

    LOL

  • @pansyinthegarden it was a joke...

  • Did captin crunch sound like he was slurring his words and had a relatively high pitched voice? It just sounded like he ran all his words together.

Kid screaming "I won, I won!" sounds like a peacock.

The twix commercial was great, it's kinda weird seeing an old reference in an old commercial. 23 skidoo!

anybody else find it weird that the ghost football player action figure had the ghost coming out of it's butt? the kid roaring sounded like he was in pain!

    two words: Jimmy Durante!

  • Giggles Cookies XD I remember having those as a snack for recess, Back in the day, before every kid was born with deadly nut allergies, and junk food wasn't banned from schools.

  • I would really love some giggles and milk right now.

  • Wonder who won that $1,000 giveaway from Toys R' Us.

    Man, I remember these!

  • hey thats fred savage as the comedian at the beginning

  • why does a cow where a bell........ cause it's arms don't work . like anyone would laugh at that..

  • lol I don't even get it

  • I had a wicked flash back at the smile cookies

  • i miss these days

  • It seems the '90s began in 1988.

  • Y'know, what's sad is that I STILL would like to win that 1000$ Toys R Us shopping spree, and it's 21 years later. Guess you never grow out of video games. XD

  • I remember saying that I would step on those talking lips in that commercial! Instead of , "I'm gettin' orange, I'm gettin' grape - I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE!" That commercial used to bother me. LOL

  • Striped Chips Ahoy, wish they bring those back

  • Wow they just brought back chocolate rice crispies..and here i thought they were new...

  • i looove cocoa krispys there damn good even today been a long time since i had them.

    Wow, I remember these commercials.

  • holy crap its the giggles cookies!

  • I remembr giggles to.Its better than those keebler sandwich cookies

  • The tang commercial @ 3:47 drove me crazy when I was very little.

  • Ah the Toys R Us with the colored wood :) That was eye candy for me growing up lol.

  • I feel 8 again!!

  • Those Crispy Critters ad with the Jimmy Durante's voice sounds cool back then. All of these commercials came from other TV stations including WABC-TV in my area. Gotta love the "Little Clowns" bit. I missed them all.

  • Now I remember that I had two ghostbuster action figures. One was the garbage man where you put the garbage can on his head to make him a ghost. Another one I remember but forgot how she turns into a ghost. It was an old lady who turns into a ghost. I also used to own the ghostbuster's house action figure. :( Lord I wish it'd be the 1980s again.

  • BENNY MCGEE IS THE MAN!!!!!!

  • oh god.. jokes.. so.. cheesy!!

  • Was that Vincent Price doing the Chips Ahoy commercial?

  • haha fred savage...i dont remember him in commerials, just the wonder years...

Those Ghostbusters toys were so cool.

Forgot about the other tang flavors.

  • OMG, I remember those giggles cookies!

  • Me too, although I remember a different commercial featuring those cookies.

  • that twix commercial makes me want a twix

not because of the images of the candy

bc of the old men.idk y!

  • i'm 13 now and i remember when i was like 5 or 6 and i got up like 6 o clock in the morning to watch classic cartoons and those good shows on in the 90's. as i watch these commercials i realize that todays commercials are crap. i wouldve liked to grow up bck then in the 80's. *sigh*

kids today are growing up without the good shows or cartoons. it was up until like 3 years ago tht i realized that there are basically no good commercials or tv shows on anymore.

  • Ah, the days when we kids dreamed of winning Toys R Us shopping sprees...I can't recall the last time I remember an ad for those.

As well as those striped chips ahoy cookies-Mom would be okay getting those or the regular Chips Ahoy, but never the 'chewy' kind.

  • Haha I like those odds they show at the end of that commercial! Also, Christ I want those Ghostbuster toys

  • Whoa, Vincent Price in the Chips Ahoy commercial.

  • friggen walk down on memory lane!!

  • i agree

  • Am I the only one that can't help but look for website addresses at the end of each commercial?

  • was that fred savage at the end of the first commerical!?

  • yes, savage

  • OMG! I had those star sparkles fashion star ponies! whoa, I had like two of them, from what I remember.

  • Twix is one of my favorite candies! Don't remember the Tang mouths (cause I was born that year), but they were as cool as the CA raisins. :)

  • That girl at the end of the fashion star pony commercial looks very familiar. Anyone recognize her?

  • Yeah is that beyoncé?

  • I don't know but is that black girl in that star pony commercial Beyoncè Knowels?

  • OMG!!!! I fogot about Fashion Star Fillies!!!

  • I was too little to remember Snap, Krackle and Pop being the mascots for Cocoa Kripies. I do, however, remember a animated chimp being the mascot at one point.

  • Does anyone remember whether 'Joke Machine' premiums came in Alpha-Bits cereal?

I remember some kind of cereal prize involving jokes being included in Alpha-Bits cereal in the late 80s (say 1987 or '88). One of the jokes was something like: "What are the smelliest letters? P and U".

Just wondering if anyone else remembers this.

  • oh holy hell i totally remeber that joke!!! used to always say it inelementry!.. i dont remember where it came from but i do remmeber alpha bits cereal and you kno it does sound very familiar, ...

  • Those jokes from those clowns are as bland as dry toast - Yawn!

  • Isn't it interesting how commercials for boys' toys have changed a lot in the last 20 years, but girls' commercials are pretty much the same?

  • Seems H.U.M.A.N.E. is better than t.a.s.t.y., which is actually a L.E.T.H.A.L. front.

  • Eh?

  • I had completely forgotten the first commercial, but now I think I remember it, particularly the "cocoa moon" and the standup comedian boy.

  • The stand up comedian boy is Fred Savage.
