What are some of the cover songs, recordings of Woody Guthrie songs, that you think are very powerful? "Riding In My Car" was a children's song that Woody wrote, and he makes all the sounds of a door closing and the engine. To hear Bruce Springsteen make all these funny sounds is hysterical. -Woody Guthries daughter Anna Cannoni
Pete Seeger sings this Woody Guthrie's song in the Arthur Penn 's movie " Alice's Restaurant " 1969, and Peter Paul & Mary in the album " in concert " 1964
@Isismusicnow Woody Guthrie has an early recording of this song. Perhaps it's just a traditional song, or maybe Woody wrote it himself, but that's definitely why Bobby and Dave got it from. So perhaps Cornelis got it from Woody aswell, would make sense.
think i first heard this tune by pete seeger when i was a kid, i know it's a woody song, but i'm still fond of that first version i heard when i was quite small
I listened to this twice, but despite the introduction, I couldn't hear Van Ronk's voice. It sounded like Dylan and Ramblin' Jack Eliot, two masters who attempted to sound like Woodie Guthrie. Maybe Dave dit the motor sounds!
Seach 'Anna Cannoni about Woody Guthrie'..

This is great. I've loved Dave Van Ronk since I was a little kid in the early 60s and checked out one of his ablums at the library.

Ja nu vet jag var Cornelis fick Balladen om ett munspel från. Man lär sig nåt nytt varje dag :)

Birds Beasts Bugs and Bigger Fishes is a Pete Seeger album. Perhaps the Guthrie album you're thinking of is Songs to Grow On.

@Pmitsou123 I've been looking for this bootleg online for a while, but it seems to be out of online circulation. Where might I find it?

Heard about Von rock from reading the Bob Dylan Chronicles. Born in '63, this was before my time but worthy of appreciating.
